“Fab Location.very clean hotel.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 October 2013

These apartments are very basic and very clean. The location is the best part of it, it's literally right next to the wonderful fig tree bay. It's also only five minutes walk to the main strip of Protaras which is buzzing with plenty of bars , restaurants and supermarkets. The food on the strip was lovely with most places offering various 3 course set menu choices which was very good value and worked out cheaper than just having a main meal. The staff are welcoming and cheerful. My only few complaints are that the pool area is not as nice as described in the photos, It's very basic and the sunbeds are very basic. Unfortunately the hotel restaurant was closed and so was the bakery but then the strip is very close by so it wasn't a major problem. Also inside the apartments, the beds are very hard so they could do with investing in some better matresses. The rooms are immaculately clean though which is very important I think. The only other annoying thing was people in the room above moving furniture around late or early in the morning, not great when your trying to sleep. Why people feel the need to 'drag furniture around' beats me but it can be pretty annoying. I like to be considerate if I know that people are below me.Overall it was a great holiday and Cyprus is a beautiful holiday destination. I would stay here again. Hopefully they will invest in some better mattresses.

Room Tip: Choose a room on a high floor to avoid people dragging furniture around when your sleeping!!!

Location was fantastic, just off the edge of the main strip of bars, shops and restaurants but also just steps away from the beautiful beach.
All areas were clean and the staff were extremely accommodating.
The apartment itself had great space and an amazing view but was in dire need of a refurb. Drab and dated upholstery, bedding and curtains, broken tiles in the bathroom, really uncomfortable sofas and beds, hand painted chocolate brown kitchen cupboards. Luckily we did not pay €40 for the air conditioning as the unit was only in the bedroom.
Come on Astreas, bring your apartments into the 21st century.

The Wife and I stayed 11 nights at Astreas in a one bedroom apartment with a side sea view.
Apartments are basic, a little bit tired and in need of a little modernisation, but very, very clean, odd tile in bathroom cracked and could do with re-grouting, but generally apartment has been decorated and was clean and bright and more than adequate.
Towels and bed linen were changed regularly, and floors swept and mopped
Staff were excellent, very helpful, polite and friendly, especially the two females on reception. Apartments and pool surrounded by well tended grounds. Apartments very quiet but literally 2 minutes walk to 'The strip' with plenty of bars and restaurants. We would recommend the Olympus restaurant at the end of the road and also the supermarket just down the road from the apartments.
Fig Tree Bay beach is beautiful with plenty of sun beds (at half the price of Spanish ones) but you need to get to them by about 10 am to guarantee getting them and at the weekends when the locals fill the beach you need to get there a lot earlier to get beds. There is a small public car park between the apartments and beach but it doesn't spoil sea views and the walk to the beach is not much more than a minute.
The bus service to the other parts of the Island were fantastic and well worth hopping on and doing some exploring. Only 3 euros for an all day pass, really good value, puts the UK to shame.
Had a really good holiday there and would recommend to anyone who wants to go to Protaras.
Only complaint, we used the beach all the time except the first half day, but you are not allowed your own food and drink around the pool area, not even a bottle of water!
I did confirm this with the apartment owner, in that heat and not your own water, hence we used the beach as I would rather pay for beds than pool drinks all day, so the owner is cutting his own throat because now we were not buying their pool food either.

Room Tip: Side sea view apartments get a view and they are cooler

Just returned after a 2 week stay and our 12th visit to Protaras. Location is perfect right on Fig Tree Bay and a minute walk away from the main strip. We booked a sea view but were on the 1st floor looking at trees. After a week we moved to the 3rd floor with a much better view. Rooms are dated, basic but clean. Beds were comfortable and sheets changed regularly, clean towels every day. No problems with hot water. Air conditioning is a rip off 6 Euros a day. Its not controlled by reception so don't pay for it on arrival as they try to get you to do. In our first floor room air con only in bedroom, put the main switch on by the side of the mirror in the bedroom, then lift the flap on the side of the aircon unit, push the black button and it works. In the third floor room just put the main switch on by the mirror in the bedroom and it works anyway. Pool area needs a refurb as well but no trouble getting a bed any time of day. They don't like you to take your own food or drink but just buy it from their shop and its ok. Wi Fi available only in reception. Nice restaurants are Promises Italian rooftop near the fountain, tried the new Italian further up Marcellos but wasn't impressed. Oscars up the top of the strip opposite Mcdonalds was very good and Anatolia at the top of the strip past Mcdonalds on the top road but can get busy and service can be slow but food is good. We love Bells Bar, very noisy but good fun and banging music!! Went to Georges Bar, a tip, keep track of what you drink and check your bill, overcharged twice and not happy when we questioned the bill!!! Windmills have very good deals on car hire. A fabulous holiday, will be booking again but going to stay nearer the top end of the strip next time.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a high floor for the best views.

After reading mixed reviews went with a very open mind. When we arrived were met by a very pleasant lady on reception and yes we did have to pay extra for air con and a safe but was prepared having read previous reviews. We were given room 222 and apart from a couple of cracked tiles in the bathroom we could not fault the room although air con in the main living room as well as in the bedroom would have been nice. Every day the room was cleaned, every other day fresh towels and every third day fresh bedding. The first week we were there we didn't have any problems getting a sun lounger round the pool but towards the end of the second week by 11 am they were all taken (nobody on them just towels!) there were a few older ones to oneside but you had to be careful how you lay on these. The lady behind the bar was very friendly and worked very hard. The hotel itself is in a perfect position overlooking Fig Tree Bay and 2 minutes walk to the start of one end of the strip with all the bars, shops and restaurants,(would recommended Georgia Steak Restaurant staff friendly, food lovely, good choice and huge portions and also The Greek evening at Romeo Taverna) . The sea is beautiful and clear and plenty of water sports to choose from. We went on the two trips provided The Red Bus (open top double decker bus) and would recommend both of these, we also went on the Sunday trip to the market and Camel Park we were very disappointed with the market and certainly would not recommend this. I travelled with my 2 daughters ages 15 and 19 and all of us loved our holiday to Protaras and would certainly return to Cyprus in the future.
