“Nice Apartments”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 September 2012

First time in Cyprus and the holiday overall was great. Hotel was perfect location with a fantastic pool and plenty of sunbeds. Pool bar was excellent value and the views were the best.
We were there late July early August and the resort was very busy. We only had one night where noise was a problem due to a party in the restaurant opposite the hotel. Air con free in bedroom. Rooms cleaned regulary, towels changed every second day. Wi fi a waste of time as our apartment was too far away for a signal.Wi fi was expensive. Safe resonable price with a refundable 5 euro deposit for the key. Late checkout room was 50 euro which you have to book in advance and they let you know the day before. There was a few locals using the hotel facilities at weekends but there were still plenty of sunbeds.

First time at this hotel, excellent location pool area leads onto the beach. Rooms large and spotless. Well equiped kitchen, with mini oven, two rings, kettle, toaster. Complex has a small self service laundy, but no drying rails on balconies. Air con free in bedroom, but 6 euro charge per day for lounge air con. TV with BBC world and Eurosport only in English. Wifi available but charged 70 euro per fortnight. (you can have a drink in the Rising Sun Pub and get it free though) Complex is near the main strip(5 minutes walk) with a wide choice of restaurants, recommendations for Andama (traditonal Cypriot) Red Indian (USA diner style wide range of set menus for as little as 10 euro's) Georgia (air conditioned and good menu and prices). Staff are very friendly, and food at restaurant at lunch time is very good and a wide choice. No kids club, small indoor childrens play area with toddler toys such as wendy houses. Pool area very good for kids deepest area only being 150cm. Bed hire on beach is 2.50 euro per day. Not many British at this hotel as it is mainly Russian, Scandanavian and Cypriot families with teenage children rather than younger kids. No entertainment during the day, Rising Sun pub has a act each night ranging from Cypriot Dancing to Abba tributes. Lots of sunbeds, and space around pool area. Gym available at 4 Euros per visit. Massage available in hotel 25 euro.

Room Tip: Room 231 Corner room, large and spacious, only downside was it is opposite one of the local restaura...

Just back from spending a week in the Rising Star. The place is great. Spotlessly clean. The staff are lovely and friendly. The food [can only comment on breakfast] was lovely with a good variety of food for all tastes. The pool area is spotless with plenty of sunbeds. I cannot comment on the entertainment as we had no kids with us so didnt avail of this. We requested and paid extra for a sea view but I think no matter where your room is - you will have some view of the sea so save your self some money here. The gym isnt great and some of the equipment is not working. Its also only a bus ride [1 euro cost] to Ayia Napa and it takes about 15 minutes. Lots of bars and restaurants near by.

Room Tip: Pool view would be lovey and this also gives you a view of the sea

Yet again we had an excellent stay at the Rising Star although if you book this expecting entertainment,as advertised by Thomas Cook, you will be very disappointed as there is only the odd show every few nights,3 a week, which are more for the Russian and Scandanavian guests.
This year due to Thomas Cook trying to get all their British guests into AI hotels, and the Rising Star would do it,they have decided to use only about 30% of the rooms for British guests and the rest for Russian and Swedes/Norwegians.
We still had a ball and most of the Scandanavians are very friendly although the Russians not as much so.
The one good thing about less Brits was you didn't have to get up before 8'00am to get a sunbed as previous years.
We were B&B and the buffet breakfast was excellent.
As usual all the staff are fantastic and will look after you

Having stayed in various hotels in Protaras the Rising Star is by far the best. The rooms, pool area and location are all great. Not forgetting the staff at the hotel either, they were amazing!
Don't usually go back to the same hotel twice, but will definitley be going back next year.
