“Platomare hotel and day trips”
Reviewed 27 June 2013

This year we stayed in the platomare hotel it is family run and also family friendly offers good food although the Rooms are a little dated they are very clean towels changed daily but its only a base
it is 2 minutes walk to pernera beach which has a few coves in that area also 15 minute walk into protaras this hotel is perfectly situated quiet location where as protaras can get busy and loud also pernera centre can get busy too.
For all you returning travellers to Cyprus who thought you had seen everything Cyprus had to offer think again MR JOHN was a young boy of 15 when the invasion took place in 1974 this man does a 5 hour trip to the north worth every penny 20 euro for adults 10 for children it is a very moving experience and glad we did the trip it makes you thankful for what you have. The red bus trip is open top but I preferred the 18 seater air conditioned mini bus with door to door service.
The north like the euro so beware take plenty of small euro coins and 5 euro notes ask to pay in euro the bill will be in Turkish lira if it is 32 lira that is 16 euro approx just half it but they may give you change in euro notes but small change in lira coins check your money.
Another trip is to the Lefkara village if you hire a car visit the quaint little village there are lace shops on the way up to the village and the shop keepers will see a car coming up and run out into the road to slow you down invite you in ply you with lemonade and if your not careful flog you goods at an extortionate price they tell you that this is lefkara but it isn't go up the hills when it starts to level off look for the coffee shop cafe on the right turn right then first left then right pull in at he municipal car park it's partly under cover walk to the left up he cobbled lane you see a post office on the other end is Harry's bar take a look inside beautiful lefkara lace I always buy here the lady called Georgina raouna is off English cypriot parents and you are not obliged to purchase however do take a look at the village but beware of other shop owners they almost drag you in and follow you around the shop and there you feel obliged to buy to shut them up lovely little restaraunts up there too.
In my opinion Cypriots have been stuffed by their government the bail out to Greece crippled cyprus where it was only a short time ago a wealthy country.
I have seen a big difference in the prices from last year you can blow a grand in no time so places I would recommend to eat is the platomare if you stay there value for money, The super s, mojito, and Anatolia restaraunts the mojito is near the platomare the other 2 are in protaras it is a lovely walk.
Russians and Chinese are buying and living in Cyprus the Russians will think nothing of barging you out of the way trying to intimidate so just beware for young lads and lasses going to party in napa take care young cypriot lads riding round in vans chasing british lads and looking for trouble especially if there are only 2 of you they will be in 3's and 4's this came from 2 lads who had to run so they would not get smacked about napa can be loud at night young Cypriots riding around the streets on motor bikes dependent on where you stay you may not get much sleep I would always recommend protaras instead of napa.
For fish and chip lovers go down agincourt road to the bottom restaraunts there is value for money it overlooks the sea you need a car to get about see Tina at doros car hire we hire from here in one week we travelled over 1600 km so much to see.

Room Tip: The rooms with sea view are excellent the rooms on the side near the road get the 4pm breeze it is v...

Stayed in Cyprus in August 2012 for 2 weeks with my family and had a brilliant time!!! The hotel was always kept clean and the staff were very friendly, our room was cleaned daily and was spacious. I had a bed in the living area of the apartment and even though this was a sofa style bed it was very comfortable. The pool area was kept very tidy and the pool cleaned daily by staff. The beach at Pernera were more so little coves dotted along the coastline which was lovely as it meant you could sit on different beaches, the sea was quite shallow which is ideal for small children too. Plenty of supermarkets, shops, tavernas and bars along the boardwalk which lead into a busier part of the town. Loved my holiday in Cyprus, so much so that we will be returning.

Visited the PlatoMare Hotel and apartments from 29/05/2013 to 5/06/2103. We had a great week with fabulous weather. Got a bargain break through Olympic Holidays and we were delighted withe the accommodation. The hotel/apartments are in the quieter area of Pernera and we had very little noise. It was so peaceful in the evenings apart from music from a hotel nearby on one night.Lifts to all floors was a bonus. Roomy apartment with all the essentials and cleaners were thorough. Bedroom gave plenty of room and beds were comfy. Paid for air conditioning, which was very reasonable and much needed. This is a family run hotel and the atmosphere was very friendly and welcoming.Thea and Katherine were really great company. The staff were all so friendly and obliging, they could not do enough for you. The meals were great too! Lamb kleftiko was mouthwatering - YUM YUM!! Breakfast outstanding value and quality. Cheapest in Pernera! ! Bar prices very good and Happy hour from 4pm until 9pm. What more do you want?
The grounds were immaculate and tended daily and the swimming pool area was cleaned daily.
All in all a great holiday and we would recommend to anyone.
Thank you from Alan (Happy) and Ann (LEEDS)

The platomare apartments are a fantastic place to base your holiday in cyprus, we have been going to cyprus for 16 years and i can truly say what a wonderful time we had, the family and all the staff are great nothing is to much, yes the appartments a little dated but who goes on holiday to stay in there room, the rooms are cleaned every day towels and bedding changed every few days, the food was spot on and not over priced, we loved it here wish we d stayed here before but make no mistake we will be back thanks platomare for a great holiday.

The apartments are ideally situated on the edge of Penera, close to the boardwalk that leads straight into Protaris, so best of both worlds the quiet of Penera, with the Prot bright lights a 20 min stroll away.
The apartments are very clean, of a decent size- but dated. Very friendly family run.
The best testament is to say we are returning again this year!

Perfect location and very helpful staff that do make you feel welcome. Apartments are a little dated but are very clean. Cooking facilities are sparse only two rings and a kettle. Beds are comfortable and linen is changed regularly. Views from balcony was very attractive, we loved it. Our only disappointment was the absence of a TV as we have a 9 year old and early in the morning and just before bed time a TV would have been appreciated by all. We fell in love with the apartments and will book again for next year June 2014

Room Tip: We were in room B26 Block B this over looked the pool area which included a sea view.
