We booked this one week break for around £250 each to get some sunshine before winter came. We are a couple in our mid 20's. I was very hopeful for the holiday after reading all the positive reviews on here, however sadly my opinion certainly differs.

The main problem i have with the hotel is the noise at night from the hotel complex next door run by First Choice i believe. I am not a late night person, and like to be in bed for 11pm most nigths. The entertainment in the hotel next door went on until 1am+ every night. It literally made the room thud - it really was loud.

Hotel a 15 min walk away from Protaras, which i do not think Olympic holidays make very clear in their brosure. There is not alot going on in Perona where the hotel is situated. Protaras is also like Blackpool for anyone that hasnt been, which isnt for me but some people might want that.

People running the hotel seemed OK, they didnt really say alot to us (prob because of our age).

Rooms are very old and worn, however do seem clean enough.

So all in all you definetly get what you pay for here, which is fine, however it was the noise that spoilt it for me.

Have just returned from another wonderful week at Platomare. Didn't think it could possibly be as good as I remembered it , but it was even better! This small friendly hotel is the jewel of Pernera.Set on the edge of the town, just a few minutes stroll from shops and restaurants, the hotel is a haven of rest and quiet. The apartments are spacious, clean and very comfortable. The pool area is idyllic - no piped music , no one hassles you to "join in this or that" - just comfy sun loungers, good company and a chance to relax and chill out. Platomare is self catering and there is a supermarket on site, but the restaurant serves delicious food and even provides a take-away service for those self caterers who don't want to cook. The hotel staff are fabulous. They make you feel like one of the family - so much so that I and my fellow guests didn't want to leave. This was my third visit and definitely won't be my last. You MUST try Platomare. I promise you you'll love it.

The plus points are the room was quite large, and had everything you needed for very basic self catering and as far as we were concerned there was plenty of hot water for the shower, it was also very close to the sea.
Really it went down hill after that! I believe that the apartment was clean however everything was so worn out and old it felt "grubby" the sheets were grey and the towels frayed, the bathroom was retro to say the least but not in a good way, there was also a filthy extractor fan in there which we did not use but given there was no window may have been needed in the hight of the summer. The bins were emptied daily but the cleaners lost interest in any other cleaning towards the end of the week. Our main problems were that our room overlooked a tip....an old matress, discarded curtains and other random rubbish in the yard of a very run down building. We also had to contend with the constant loud music from the hotel across the way, and I am talking loud, it started 10am on the dot and went on until the early hours every day/night.
The two young Cypriot people who were somtimes on reception were very pleasent but the other staff who were mostly elderly British people could not be bothered to speak except for when they were pushing the "bingo and quiz night" which I cannot comment on as we did not go, we had one breakfast and one cocktail at the hotel and enough to say you get what you pay for and both were cheap. ( we ate quite often at the Blue Spice where the food, cocktails and staff were lovely and it was not too expensive) There were plenty of sun loungers but the pool and pool area were tired and tatty, we heard it discribed as very "eastern block" The rep was about twice a day but we did not see her, she did at the welcome party make quite an issue about the "customer satisfaction surveys" being returned but never got round to letting us have one. This is the first negative review I have ever had to write, we always use trip advisor and usually get what we expect ( we are quite lucky and get away 3-4 times a year), but this time we were very dissappointed. All I can say is if you get offered a really cheap deal (£200) and only want a base to sleep in its ok, unfortunatly we paid the best part of £500 each for a week and it just was not worth it. (however we did enjoy the sun and swimming in the lovely clear sea in late October!)

The hotel staff were brilliant, very friendly and made us feel very welcome as soon as we arrived. Although the room was basic, it was always spotless. The pool and bar areas were everything we needed.
We walked to Protaras town centre every evening, which is about 15-20 mins away but the walk along the seafront was lovely.
Our week came to an end too quickly and we are already planning going back next year.

We booked this Hotel purely for some sun + location and we have to say for what we were looking for and paid, it did the trick, weather has been fantastic, location is top draw.

This was our 3rd holiday this year, so we weren't going to pay much for it, just needed some sun.

Staff were friendly, didn't think the rooms were that clean, in fact we were shocked, but we thought, what the heck, we got all this cheaper than what we were quoted for a flight only deal, the noise from nearby Hotels was terrible, but a few bacardi and cokes before bed did the trick !!!
It was a little dissapointing though to get some of the noise from friends of the owners popping buy for a few drinks !!!

Location was perfect, near the beach, which were clean and the sea very calm so suitable for young children + the resturants close buy very good, Blue Spice we thought was good value, but thought overall drinks are expensive all over.

We rated this as very good for what we wanted, but........if this was your main holiday for 2 weeks, please look elsewhere, or take it for what it is, purely a 2* and I mean 2*

nice basic apartments, everything you need.really friendly people working there. jean, terry and catherine were great.good location only five minutes from beach. didnt have any problem from noise slept well every night.plenty of places to eat and drink in pernera, liked mojitos and the only fools and horses bar about five minutes away. had a quiz night and bingo on a monday which is a good laugh but think it should be more than once a week. have already booked for next year, there is 6 of us going as it is my mum and dads golden wedding anniversary. really enjoyed it there and would recommend it to anyone. cant wait for next september.
