“Excellent holiday!”
Reviewed 22 July 2011

We booked 2 weeks before we went ( 2 adults, 3 kids 12,13,14yrs) and got a really good deal, pretty much 2 weeks for the price of 1 so very happy. Accommodation was clean but basic. Showers could be better but apart from that we had no complaints. Air con not needed during day if you have front and back doors open as there was a good breeze all the time but very hot at night. Our air con worked when we switched it on which was a bonus -I think you're supposed to pay in advance and its quite expensive over 2 weeks. An older couple we met didn't want to pay and were quite uncomfortable at night. Also one of them slipped in the bath while having a shower which could have been nasty but the staff provided them with some carpet underlay as a bath mat!
Staff are friendly and helpful and the restaurant food is great but there are 3 or 4 other restaurants nearby so lots of choice -Spartiatis, Cape Bar and Luccia all good. Usually around 10 euros a head with drinks.
The onsite shop is a bit pricey but we took coffee, tea, noodles (for kids) jam with us. Definitely worth taking any luxuries from home if you're counting the pennies. Also t- towel, washing up liquid etc.
The beach was small but pretty (crowded at weekend) and the views from the top are amazing. The steps are fine for anyone reasonably used to walking!
Its hot, hot ,hot but its apparently one of the few places in Cyprus with a breeze which made it bearable. Ayia Napa and Protaras are worth a visit but unless you're a teenager (and they were plentiful on the flights -overexcited and noisy on the way out, coughing, sneezing , still white and asleep on the way back) once is probably enough. The Lazy day boat trip was good day out.
Would go back again-we had a great time and met some nice people!

We have just returned from a trip to Konnos Bay Apartments and would go back tomorrow! We stayed in a studio apartment so we were across the road, we could see the sea at the sides of the main block and it was lovely to sit out on the balcony for breakfast or in the evening when we returned home, when we return will probably ask for an upstairs room as I believe the view will be better. We took the air conditioning at 6 euros per night and we were really pleased we did as lowest temperature we experienced was 24 degrees and that of course was in the middle of the night during the day it was mid 30's all the time. The studio was basic and a little dated but there was no problem with it ,the maids were good and came in 5 times a week everywhere was clean and tidy, we had a broken shower which we advised reception of and the maintenance man was over to fix it within an hour, in general this was clean basic accommodation which for the price we paid provided a great base for our holiday. All of the staff that we came into contact with on the complex were friendly and helpful and it is lovely to sit in the bar/restaurant with its view of the bay which is spectacular.
This year there are many new buses in Cyprus and from the front of the hotel (or just down the road after 9.00 at night) you could get a bus into Protarus or Ayia Napa one way trips 1 euro or a day ticket so you could hop on and off as you please for 2 euros and most of the time the service was half hourly, also the local taxis will stop at the bus stops and you can barter a fare with them and if there is a group of people this can be a good option, we went into Ayia Napa one time for 6 euros for the 2 of us in the middle of the day so there is no loss in speaking to them when they stop, they leave you alone if you decline.
The bar/restaurant on the complex offered good value food we had breakfast one day and lunch another (we were self catering) both were very nice and we had drinks in the bar a few times particularily after making it up the steps from the beach (it is a tough climb in the heat of the day but it is worth it for the location and if you take breaks on the way up its okay) each time we visited we were meet with friendly service and reasonable prices so no problems at all. Locally there isn't a lot of choice of restaurants etc, the beach bar, run by the 5 star Grecian Park hotel offers really nice food and again that great view it is not cheap but the portions etc are good we had the filled pittas there at 6 euros these were really filling and tasty, there were a couple of other restaurant just down the road which we didn't personally try, also the bus service means eating out in Ayia Napa or Protaras is really easy and the buses run until 4.00am so no problems getting back. A few things we would recommend, visit Ayia Napa during the day or early evening and see the harbour, the monastery, the new broadwalk along the front etc leave by around 11.00pm and you would never know it was a clubbing town. Alternateively go late at night and have a great time if you're that age group!! Protaras has also clearly seen a big investment on improvements and walking along the front from fig tree bay to flamingo beach is lovely and the town is lively later on with a good choice for eating and drinking to cater for all tastes really we particularily enjoyed our meal at Hippo Campus a lovely restaurant which wouldn't have been out of place in a swanky city location great service and food. We also had lovely Kleftico with authentic village potatoes etc at Rocks restaurant in Pernera this was a much quiter area but a very nice meal none the less.
All in all we had a lovely time, the apartments are in a quite area so not for those who want to be in the heart of everything all the time but for a quite relaxing holiday with the option to easily get to other placesit is great, it was perfect for us we cant wait to return.

Me and my girlfriend have just come back from a weeks holiday at Konnos Bay. We went last year in September and loved it that much we had to go back this year!!
We booked through co-op travel both times but had a 24 hour flight delay last week and were obviously gutted to only have 5 full days there :(
Konnos Bay Hotel overlooks a gorgeous little beach that has crystal clear seas. The beach was quiet through the week but extremely busy at weekends. Umbrellas and floating sunbeds can be hired for €2.50 and €3.00. We would often go to the beach cafe in the shade to get out of the heat as it was unbearable at times! There was lots on the menu from salads to hot and cold sandwiches, burgers, fries and jacket potatoes. You can get to the beach from the hotel by using some steps, its quite a long way down but not as bad as some people have made out in these reviews, although its best avoided mid-day, its just too hot! Lizards are everywhere and will probably run accross the steps at some point.
The steps down to the beach also lead to cyclops cave which is another little quiet bay around the corner but the steps are much steaper and narrower. Konnos bay beach also has a variety of water sports, pedalos, jet skis, kanoes, glass bottom boats etc....
The hotel itself consists of the hotel part which has a reception with computers and the studios accross the road which was where we were. They are basic but really clean (cleaned everyday except sunday) with tv, i think all balconys have a sea view, good kitchen facilities and an ok bathroom. The rooms get really really hot at night!! There is a tennis court to the back of the studios too and a shop with just about everything to the side. The hotel has a pool area which is basic. We never spent a day there as it just didn't compare to the beach at all!! Next to the pool is a bar area that does good food all day and all staff were really nice.
Protaras was a 5 minute taxi run costing €8/9. At night you coouldnt really walk as it was too far. Gorgeous food everywhere in protaras and aiya napa was around 15 mins away. Amazing little place, would defo go again!!!!

I stayed in the self catering block with my husband 4 weeks ago, and can honestly say it was terrific value. The apartments were cleaned regularly, clean linen, ect. If there is one criticism it would be that the kitchen area needs a little updating, also the lighting is is inadequate in the bathroom. This would not stop us from booking there again. The views were lovely and there was a regular bus service.

i only spent a week but was very pleased with the location accommodation and overall experience at konnos bay.. although it is not walking distance to protaras or ayia napa buses pass by the front of the hotel every 30 minutes and is only 1 euro into either town and 1 euro back or 2 euro for a days pass to wherever.. hotel was very clean and tidy not fair from pool.. i would say the only down fall is the walking distances to the beach which isnt far but is down a lot of steps.. but when you are down the beach it is great with a variety of different water sports activities or just snorkelling with the fishes.. overall experience was fantastic and if you are considering visiting here you should go !!

Booked last minute with Thomson holidays at our Local branch in Mexborough .. The deal was with Olympic holidays, and was fantastic .. The studio we have been allocated is in a seperate block across the road from the main hotel .. This doesn't detract in any way shape or form .. The receptionist was attentive, and sorted us out straight away .. The room is clean and tidy, the pool area clean, and the food excellent and good value .. the only drawback is the trip back from the beach, its a hike, uphill, but probably worth it .. all in all a definite thumbs up from us 2

Was very pleasantly surprised when we got to our apartment. We got such a good deal so i didn't expect it to be very good but the apartments were great! Very clean, well equipt for self catering (even had a greater!) a big fridge for all of your food and a full bathroom. We also had a flat screen TV in the room with great movie channels which i was not expecting at all.

The view from the apartments is amazing! Konnos bay is very beautiful and it was the perfect time of year to go. It was still hot (29-32 degrees) and there were less people so we got space on the beach!

I cannot rate the food in Protaras. it was all aimed at tourists (so lots of flambe and Italian places….not authentic greek food) so was very disappointed by that…had to drive to Larnaca to get a decent meal! and really expensive!!
So self catering is the way to go!

The pool and bar area was lovely but we went down to the beach most days.

The cleaners were nothing but thorough….but it did get quite annoying with them knocking on the door every morning but at least we had clean sheets and towels every day!

Will visit again!

Quick tip…there are two apartment blocks…one across the road form the main building. Its actually better to get those ones…its further from the pool but it MUCH quieter at night (no noise from the bar) and you still get a view of the sea from the balcony. And ask for apartments on the first floor…you avoid mosquitos and bugs :-)

Room Tip: §Ask for the apartments on the First floor!
