Seagull is brilliant. Everyone is friendly, bar opens till 2 am every day, pool is open 9-7, beach is 5 min walk where the sea is very warm and clear, very goo for snorkelling as there are some rocks. Pernera has its own little nightlife with various resturants, bars and shops. Centre of protaras is about a 25 min walk along the sea front or 5 min bus/taxi journey. Bus is 1.5 euros each way per person it will take you to protaras and aiya napa. Aiya napa ia about 20 minute journey by bus/taxi. Protaras has some amazing beaches flamingo bay, fig tree bay and kannos bay being a few of our favourites. A taxi company situated opposite our apartments called 'savvas taxi' is a friendly service run by a family they always set a price for single trip and return trips shaggy is his name. We used them everyday as there were 11 of us much cheaper than us all gettin the bus. Weather was fantastic. Aiya napa is very lively by night and quieter in the day. Food was brilliant something for everyone. Will be returning in the future no doubt.

The Seagull is a family owned apartment hotel in Pernera and is nicely positioned just up from the beach. We know this area and although there has been some development surrounding the hotel, it doesn't detract from it as I thought it might have done. If you want a sea view now though, you need to be a floor or two higher than before.
The rooms are basic, but clean and functional. There are studios and 1 bed types with extra ' put you up' beds in the lounge.. We had a 1 bed and are not sure how they differ size wise from the studios, except of course having a seperate bedroom. In the end all four of us moved beds into the bedroom to save having to pay for 2 A/C units at €28 a week each.
Cooking, if you really want it, is available in the form of a full size cooker without top rings. No microwave although a toaster and kettle are provided.
Our bathroom was a hideous green, including walls, very dated and not in the best of condition. The toilet faced right up against the wall so if you are on the large side, you will have to sit side saddle. Our friends toilet was a different layout though and was much better, but still green and dated. Shower and taps all worked well, so no complaints.
The rest of the hotel was in much better condition, the pool area being spacious and relaxed. Plenty of beds. There is a pool side snack and drinks bar. The outside seating area is nicely shady too.
No entertainment, not even for the kids, but we didn't miss it as there is plenty going on around.
Supermarket opposite, so all your drink and food items are easy to get. Not supposed to eat or drink anything bought from the supermarkets by the pool though, but most people did. After all you are self catering aren't you?
I would go there again, so consider that a recommendation.

We actually stayed at the seagull back in September 2007. I wasn't a member of Tripadvisor then so didn't submit a review. However I'd now like to share our experiences as the holiday left me never wanting to visit Cyprus ever again.
The seagull is poorly located close to loud bars.
The metal dustbins outside were emptied during the night 3 times a week during our 2 week stay.
There was a large amount of building work taking place next to the apartments with land cleared ready for more.
Staff were rude and unhelpful
The closest beach was not very nice and was rocky as you enter the sea, so be careful as it's slippery.
Food wasn't nice at the apartments and was over priced, service was also very slow.
The seagull is in Panera which is about a 40 minutes walk to Protaras.
We were originally put in a room directly above the bar area which meant we were woken by the cleaners very early in the morning smashing glass bottles into the bins. When we were asked to be moved, we were met with disgust and it was only because of another guest moving out and offering their room that we got moved - to an even nosier room. I cried and was ready to fly home (it was only our 3rd day in cyprus).
the rooms were not a bad size but don't expect a comfortable nights sleep, the beds were like rock.
The pool area was the best thing about the place, but get there early for a lounger and parasol
The resort was incomplete and there wasn't a great deal to do.
We hired a car and went to Aiya Napa which was marginally better.
Thomas Cook severly let us down and our rep was useless and only gave us a number to call when we had problems (it was when it was Sunset holidays)
The hotel didn't put corridor lights on at night so guests had to do this themselves.
I can't understand how these apartments have received 10 out of 10 (or even 5 out of 10) reviews.
The cleaners were brilliant - the 2nd best thing about the place

this was our 2nd stay at the seagull hotel, and again had a great holiday. hotel is kept very clean with good linen and towel changes, the pool is a very good size with a shallow end and a deep end, there is also a seperate toddlers pool there is always enough sun-loungers, rooms are basic with no tv and bathrooms could do with being upgraded but saying that they are clean. food in the hotel is good also. there is now a beautiful new walkway along the beach from pernera to protaras which will take you about 25 minutes to walk, or you can get a bus for 1.5 euros which only takes 4-5 minutes or a taxi for 7 euros [day] and 8 euros at [night]. for a safety deposit box and air conditioning [ which is a must ] for 2 weeks will cost approx 80 euros. ayia napa is approx 10 miles away and again you can get a bus for 1.5 euros - well worth a visit. there are some great restuarants in pernera but i must say the steak and ale, sizzlers, are my favourites, kokos cocktail bar does a large breakfast for 2.5 euros. this is a good hotel in a great resort just minutes away from protaras and not far from ayia napa, pernera is quiet compared to protaras and has only about 15 - 20 restuarants , but in 2 years i have never had a bad meal, do not be scared to book this hotel as you will have a great holiday.

All staff without exception were very friendly. The only complaint i have is there is no tv in the room,Iwould not hesitate in returning to the seagull,
There is a new walkway from pernera to protaras sea view all the way Stunning

Our 8th stay at the Seagull we have been coming here since 1997, as have many people we saw again. The hotel is basic, but clean, very friendly and helpful. Pernera is the quieter part of Protaras, but has many bars and restaurants some with cover-act entertainment shows. Nearby beaches are very close and good for snorkelling there is also an excellent diving school Tabas closeby. With grand-children, the pool was the main attraction and the Seagull is ideal as most of the pool is fairly shallow within sight of guardians. Pool bar for drinks and refreshment, breakfast, lunches and meals available all day. The room was cleaned daily and had all the basic utilities inc fridge kettle and cooker. Shower not brilliant but adequate. Superb value, highly recommended. If you are looking for 5 star though look elsewhere and pay 5 times the price.

Been back one day and we wish we could go back. I went on holiday with my 22 yr old daughter and had a wonderful time. The apartments were basic but very clean with maid service every day, the bathrooms do need refurbishment but had hot water all the time so no problems getting ready everynight. The staff, a mixture of english and locals were very helpful and friendly. The pool was great with no problems in getting a sun bed. Had breakfast in the restaurant every day as so cheap. Plenty of places to go at night time, would recommend Knights bar, mixture of old and young people, so didnt feel out of it taking my daughter there, the staff were fun and friendly and the music was great. Would definately go back to the Seagulls - not luxury accommodation but very clean and adequate - you get what you pay for.
