“Great holiday once again.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 October 2009

This was our second stay at the Domniki and great holiday once again. Superb location.everyone is so freindly and it seems that all the guests come back year after year. We didnt have a sea view room this time as we were at the back of the hotel (Room 306)but this didnt bother us as it was quiet and very pleasent in the evening sitting on our balcony watching the sun set with a ice cold Keo. Keith, Penny and Jane do a great job. As do Sonia and all her family make you feel really welcome. We will defiently be back next year thats if we can get in. Olympic are not the main holiday company now apparently Thomas Cook (Manos) are taking over the bookings.

We got this holiday very cheaply and were therefore prepared for the worst. Very very pleasantly surprised - hotel was spotless and location fantastic. Olympic rep (sammi) was very very good - always wanting to know whether there was anything she could help with. The beach is great and right on your doorstep. Prices in the hotel a bit higher than in the town but you've got everything you need on your doorstep. Would go again tomorrow - lots of people we spoke to had been going to the same hotel for years.

We just got back from Domniki in Pernera/Protarus.
Probably one of the best self-catering appartments we've had.
Clean, big, spacious 1 bed appartments with 3 pin 240V UK plugs, too.

The appartments were clean and modern with shower and bath. The staff were friendly and helpful, even though Shaun the chef wouldn't give me his secret receipe for the stuff he sprinkles on the Chips (I got as far as Paprika, black pepper, garlic salt and sea salt, but there is a further missing ingredient!!!).

The beer at the bar was the cheapest we found at 2 Euros a pint, others charge up to 3.50 in the resort. The food was also at the top end of what you could expect and the head barman always remembered our orders, despite the recent arrival of his 2 week old son and consequent lack of sleep (good luck mate).

There is a large contingent of English staff, making communication easy, and the Cypriot owner family were also very friendly, especially with our 4 year old.

The Pool area was clean and pleasant the pool itself warm and clean, although it can get rather crowded at weekends as locals are allowed to use the facilties too, but not too intrusive during our stay.

I managed to get free internet access on the balcony from the neighbouring hotel in the evenings. The nearest supermarket was just over the road and not unreasonable by the standards of the resort, but the standard resort prices are very high, partly due to the high Euro value. If you're used to Turkish prices, double your daily budget at least (not the hotel's fault!).

You will not be dissapointed with the Domniki Appartments.

My suggestions for relatively cheap improvements would be a childrens play area, free wireless access (this is the 21st century) and coffee mugs (not those poxy tea cups) in the rooms as with nearly all hotels for some reason I still don't understand(!!), but this is nit-picking and it's very clean, friendly and well run small hotel.

There is little entertainment provided at night (1 karoake and 1 quiz night a week), which is a shame as this is the case all over town (there is always nearby Protarus, but this seems to be getting a bit too commercialised and busy now). There was a decent selection of pre-used magazines and books in the reception area.

As far as the resort in general is small but with enough variety of restaurants for a 2 week stay. The only one we heard more than 1 bad report about was the Windmill Hotel restaurant. All our meals were at least good and many very good.

Everything is now getting expensive in Cyprus, from Taxis to beer to crisps in the supermarket and Sunbeds on the beach, and unless this changes, we will look elsewhere next year. Blame the Euro and declining tourist numbers (everyone seemed to agree). Whilst not bank busting, it nearly all costs a good percentage more than you'd pay in the UK.

Don't let his put you off the Domniki, which is great, clean, friendly well run, with good Pool area, very close to the beach, some very decent food and the cheapest beer in town.

One more note - AirCon costs around 60 Euro extra for a fortnight and a fan 3 Euro a night. You will need it (at least in mid June).

Thanks guys.

Stayed at this hotel last august, there were 10 of us staying in 3 rooms, when we arrived we were shown to our rooms, thats where the problems started we opened our balcony curtains to a view of a building site, all 3 rooms were the same, the building site was about 20 mts away, very dusty and very noisy,we went down to complain and asked if we could swap rooms but were told the hotel was full. The next problem was the air con,we were staying in a 1 bedroom apt, the aircon unit was in the bedroom, it just about cooled the bedroom down but the living room where the other 2 people in our room were sleeping was like a sauna there was no way you could sleep in there it was boiling. At night the aircon was not good enough to cool both rooms we ended up all four of us crashing in the 1 bedroom it was crazy, complained to the olympic rep but they were'nt interested, she was a waste of time,we were very very disappointed.
On the plus side the views over the bays were lovely and the beach was very close and very nice. The food in the hotel was very nice but a bit pricey as was everything in cyprus, the bar area and pool area was lovely and clean, staff were friendly in the bar.

Brilliant family run hotel. Excellent location and staff a credit to the hotel itself.

Quiet in the vening which suited us with young children and only to be expected at end of season.

We ate breakfast and snacks in the hotel and they were very good.

We had an excellent holiday and would definitely return.

Thanks to all at the Domniki - We hope to see you all again soon !!

I've been to the Domniki 3 years running and can't believe some of the recent bad comments. Overall the property is kept very clean with a lovely pool/sun terrace area, this then leads down pretty much onto a beautiful horse-shoe bay. The apartments are basic but very clean , all you would need for a 14 night stay. What makes this property unique is the family and staff, who year after year make you feel that you've come home. If you're looking for a good standard of apartment , the cleanest swimming pool you've ever seen, the friendliest staff on the island and a position that even a 5 star hotel would be proud of , go to the Domniki.
