3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 June 2012

of all the clubmed i have done, this was the worst on a level of service.
the location is great, the rooms are nice, the food is medium (not much variety), the sports are excellent (waterski included!)

i was here for business but i have talked to customers and they thought the same.

I wasn't expecting much when I went to this resort. I knew that the place was old and that the rooms were not very comfortable, so when I got there I was not frustrated. Overall I enjoyed my stay there. The only major problem was that the weather was bad the whole time (4 days), but this is nobody's fault. There are many activities to be done, but the nicest ones - water ski, kayaking, tennis and pool were kind of hard to do in the rain. The food is very good. Everyday we had various and tasty dishes available at the buffet. The room we were was in the last building of the village - Badejo, which was very, very far from the leisure area. There isn't a restaurant or a snack bar around it, so if we wanted anything we would have to walk all the way to the main building. The rooms were recently painted, but they are still pretty basic and old. The view from the room was amazing. I've been to other resorts were the entretainment people were better.

Room Tip: Get a deluxe one, they are closer to the main building

Many people think that Club Med is a luxury resort due to its high price. The resort is ok, settled in a beautiful area and has many activities options (Water Skiing, Kayaking, Archery, Tennis, Pool).
Food is good, but not great. After a couple of days you start getting over it and wishing something different.
Rooms are very basic, with a big bed, but not comfortable mattress. Pillows are regular foam and far from the best I had.
Good activities and monitors for kids. My 2 daughters (5 and 7) loved it.
Overall it's a good place to rest and spend some days with family and friends. Just don't expect any luxury.

It is hardly fair for me to review this resort as a tourist might. I was there for a business meeting. I was there for three and a half days and only had one free afternoon. I never got past the pool. But the pool is big and deep in the lap lanes. Much of my free time was spent with a group of colleagues at a table by the pool drinking far too many mohitos. What I can fairly review are the sleeping rooms, mine was refurbished, and was excellent. Very comfortable bed, nice bathroom amenities, and I had a great view of the ocean and the grounds. I was in the Palmaria room block on the third floor. The food was buffet for every meal. There was lots of variety, but the quality was acceptable, not great. The grounds were very nicely kept. I wish I had more time to explore. I did go to one night show. I don't enjoy pandering EmCees, or lip-synching acting. Most people seemed to really enjoy the show. I thought it was painful to watch. Maybe if I understood the language it might have been better, but I think my objections are not due to my lack of language, rather the lack of talent. The meeting room was okay. Most of the staff were very helpful. In all, I think it would be best not to mix business with what Club Meds are for, recreating! And that is not a fault of the resort. Would I go there for a vacation. All in all, I think I could easily find many places that I would rather go to instead of this Club Med.

This is the second time I have visited a Club Med that has received terrible reviews on Trip Advisor. Overall, there was little to complain about with this resort. Here are a few of my observations:

Food: variation daily, and regionally specific. We never got sick and enjoyed trying the dishes of Brazil

Rooms: ours was renovated, and clean. Not 5 star, but more than adequate. The bed was comfy, rian shower with a separate commode. Flat screen TV, channels with subtitles. No screen on the windows, which opened widely to the ocean.

Pool: Lots of action, cocktails were abundant and many places to lay. Great vista to the mountains and the ocean.

Fitness: Husband played tennis daily and in a tournament which he thought was fantastic. i worked out in the gym, was disappointed there was no yoga or spinning.

Staff: friendly and helpful all around. Few spoke English but they sure tried!

Overall a beautiful location and a great holiday. I do recommend this Club Med, in Rio das Pedras.

Far from being a high standard hotel. Given the price, you would expect great food, great service and a place well maintained. None of these happenned. Food is only available in short periods during the day, limited choices and average quality. Rooms are old and very small. The place needs maintenance. There are many other places which are better in the zone.

First time at a Club Med and the expectations were high despite other reviews here at Tripadvisor. After all, it´s an Club Med. At the end the experience was good, but I understand some critics. Here are my observations:

- Staff: Very professional, vivacious and attentive. They create a good mood from the arrival until the departure. For the first time I saw an General Resort Manager so involved in all aspects of the resort life. Congrats to the versatility of Mathias for being present at the animation activities, sports, meals, shows, etc. It was really interesting seeing him performing all nights with the animation team (GO´s). One extra point for the cocktail served for the european clients.

- Facilities: The complex is big sorrounded by Mata Atlantica and the sea. Gardens and common areas very well mainteined, clean beach and pools, good gym and superb sports (beach volley, football, tennis, jetski, volleyball, aerobics, etc) facilities. It´s ideal for sports lovers!

- Meals and bars: All inclusive at it´s best! The bars serves fantastic drinks and cocktails. True brazilian Caipirinha not to miss. The food was very good and has lots of diversity. Tematic dinners are made through the nights. Options of snacks available during the day.

- Rooms: Here´s the reason why I cannot give the maximum rate to this hotel. The rooms are outdated (despite the flat TV) and they tried to cover the years making a fake restauration. The rooms are recently painted but who made it forgot to clean the ink spots at the floor and to take off the cement from the WC, air con, chair, etc. The bed is adequate but not fantastic and the space in the room is acceptable. If like me you don´t spend much time at the room it will not be a problem, but I can understand other reviews when referring the rooms. When you pay so much, you expect better. I have the oportunity to say that to the management team and they´re conscious of it and want to improve. Let´s hope so in a near future!

As previously said, I love it our stay at Club Med Rio das Pedras and recommend for those who are sports lovers and don´t care that much with standard (very standard) rooms. If you find a good deal even better!
