“Wonderful Stay at Casa Los Dos”
Reviewed 26 February 2013

The first thing you notice when you arrive at Los Dos is the beautiful garden, and the amazing perfume of orange blossoms! My family stayed at Los Dos for two nights, on our way to and from the monarch butterfly sanctuary in Michoacan. We had a lovely time, and only wish we had stayed longer to relax and enjoy the place, rather than just stopping to sleep and breakfast there on a busy road trip with lots of driving. Our room was clean and comfortable, with wonderful art on the walls, a TV, and wifi internet available. There was also a lovely bowl of fruit, and purified water provided. Phyllis allowed us to bring our two puppies, and they had a great time playing on the grounds with her sweet dogs. Breakfast on the terrace was amazing - delicious food (scrambled eggs one day, chilaquiles the other), fruit, yogurt, granola, fresh bread, tea and coffee, all with a view of Lake Chapala and her beautiful garden and pool. We wish we'd had time for a swim. Phyllis is a gracious hostess. We definitely recommend Los Dos!

Awesome place, peaceful, romantic and surrounded by this boheme and artistic atmosphere. A great place to relax, to sit on a balcony to enjoy the view of Chapala lake, zipping a cup of coffee or drinking a glass of wine. Mornings are great, breakfast is served in front of the most spectacular view, mixed with the sound of nature or with a nice conversation. A must!

Hello,

We stayed at los dos B&B just for one night (we went to a wedding near by) and we had a very nice welcoming, I will definitely recommend this place for people that want a relax time in the country and also having the option for bigger town amenities like Ajijic or Chapala. The pool is lots of fun and the rooms were clean and very cute. I wished we could've stayed longer :(.

Thanks Los dos B&B

We just returned from spending a wonderful week at Los Dos, a quaint B&B on the mountainside just outside Jocotepec. We arrived late in the evening after a long trip and were cheerfully greeted at the gate by Phyllis, owner of Los Dos. We were too late to find a restaurant in town, so Phyllis graciously fed us soup with cheese & crackers. How wonderful and thoughtful!
Our casita unit was comfortably furnished and decorated with paintings by Georg Rauch as well as local native artifacts. The kitchen was complete and we had no problems with cooking our freshly bought produce - there was even a juicer for fresh squeezed orange juice. I was also impressed with Los Dos as they compost kitchen scraps - something I've not seen in other establishments. We also had a great view of the mountains and the lake from our room.
We thoroughly enjoyed our breakfasts on the upper patio among hummingbirds and with excellent views of Lake Chapala as well as the Sierra Madres. Phyllis' local friends ate with us on occasion and we got a lot of good quality ideas of where to explore and where to dine.
The well attended gardens and solar heated pool were welcome serene places to wind down after a busy day. The staff at Los Dos were wonderful people - friendly and patient with my terrible Spanish.
We truly enjoyed out stay at Los Dos and hope to be back soon!

I loved your curiosity, enthusiasm, and adventurous spirits and I especially enjoyed our night out at Viva Mexico restaurant. I know you won't forget thoses chiles enogadas anytime soon. Looking forward to your return, Phyllis

I really loved staying here. Phyllis is a very nice and very interesting lady with a great story to tell. For me, Los Dos B & B is a hidden treasure that more people should know about. The surrounding hills are so pretty and the garden was lovely too. It was relaxing just to sit outside with other family members or get in the heated pool. I am really looking forward to my next visit.

Los Dos is a wonderful, not your typical, b and b. From the beautiful grounds and solar heated pool, to the relaxed ambiance of our casita, everything exceeded our expectations. If you are looking for a place to just BE in Mexico you can't beat this wonderful hide away. Guadalajara and all the numerous attractions of Lake Chapala are nearby. When and if you go out for a day of sightseeing, you'll be thrilled to return to this tranquil oasis.

Los Dos B and B was a wonderful, relaxing, secure, artistic setting. It sits uphill from the small, friendly town of Jocotepec and has four apartments with kitchenettes, all of which are beautiful, with arced alcoves, lovely tile work, wonderful colors and the art work of Georg Rauch, an internationally recognized painter. His widow, Phyllis, maintains the property and is an extremely gracious, friendly, genuine and informative host. She was always available to advise us on travel and dining. We had delicious breakfasts out on her porch, with a great view of the things below us--the solar heated swimming pool, which was large enough for lap swimming and a favored activity while we were there, the many fruit trees on the property, and Lake Chapala and the mountains on the other side. We also really liked the people who worked on the property and helped make the atmosphere so friendly. It was a rich and relaxing stay.
