Spent 4 days exploring and hiking on Fogo Island. Had two dinners at Nicole's and they were wonderful. A delightful staff, warm and friendly, yummy crispy squid, and fresh salad. Main courses of chicken, pasta, and cod. All were fresh and delicious. Then the wonderful desserts, like carrot cake or ice cream from Growlers. Best on the island! Great meals, and great value. Feels like home! Thanks Nicole.

Despite it's high reputation I food the food here to be quite uninspired. Disappointing.
However the ice cream at their Growlers Cafe is DELICIOUS! Don't miss it.

This is the hot spot in Joe Batt's for lunch and supper. We had our first Fogo Island meal here and it was so good we made reservations for the following evening. Started with a salad with mixed greens, toasted walnuts, goat cheese and a partridgeberry sauce. Tasty ale to wash down the cod, which was excellent, however, the fries were lacking (kinda McDonald's like - ouch).
We came back the following night for dinner. Started with the same salad. Roast chicken and garlic potatoes and pan fried cod with rhubarb chutney (excellent) and big chunks of carrots. Really good. Best of all was the desert. Had to get two. Partridgeberry pie slice and a brownie, both with Growlers vanilla bean ice cream. Possibly the best ice cream we've ever eaten. Anywhere. Period.
We tried to get the secret to the partridgeberry salad dressing but the waitresses told us that the kitchen wouldn't even tell them!

Had the strip lion steak, the steak was great it had mushrooms and onion on it. The onion on the steak were deep fried which I do not care for. It was also served with kicky sauce which I can not eat which the waitress knew no or option available. The steak was also served with potato, I was surprised to see the potato was French fries, the cost $30.00. If you a good steak with only fries this place is for you I'll pass.
