Stayed here during a visit to see extended family. Centrally located. View from the roof restaurant is amazing, breakfast is good and so is room service. Mini bar fairly priced and many good spots to eat nearby - especially Athanasiou. Excellent service and the rooms were very nice and fairly modern. Walk down a few blocks past the port if you want to swim nearby. Many great beaches and historical sites within an hour of Pharae.

Would stay again.

Our family of 5 stayed overnight in the "Executive" suite overlooking the beach & main strip. Reception & departure went smooth, bathroom & refrigerator stocked with essentials and the king size bed was super comfortable. What topped off our stay was the breakfast buffet on the terrace overlooking Kalamata, an absolutely beautiful way to start our day! Great selection of food for breakfast & fresh coffee. Would definitely stay longer but this stay was a last minute decision to visit the area. Must also check out Kalamata's downtown core.... Very trendy, active and welcoming.

Room Tip: Corner unit allowed for more visibility of city.

I stayed at Pharae Palace for one week. First I must say that this review is a bit hard to whrite. The reason is that I really like the hotel and was going to give it 4 or even 5. But I had some serious problems with the restaurant which I will get back to.
The location was perfect for me. It´s right at the port with a lots of restaurants, bars, cafées. It´s cloose to the beach and if you just take a 5-10 minutes walk you get to very nice beach-clubs where the sunbeds are free if you buy something to drink. You have the local bus right outside the hotel that takes you to the old part of Kalamata within 10-15 minutes and just costs 1,20 Euro.
The hotel is wery clean and fresh and from the bar and the restaurant at the roof you have a spectacular view ower Kalamata, the mountains and the sea.
The rooms are very nice. Rather big and beautiful furnitured. Fresh bathroom with bathtub.
I was lucky to get a corner rooms which ment that my balcony was big and in an angle. Hade a great view ower the port, the mountains and the sea.
The beds are good and comfortable. The room was kept perfectly clean every day. The streed outside the hotel is rather buzy with traffic day and night. Can also be a bit noicy at night. But you don´t hear the noice in to you´r room, well isolaited.
I really liked the room.
The breakfast was one of the best I´ve had in Greece (and I have visited almost 25 different islands plus Athen). Different kind om bread, different cheese saussages and ham, omelette, fried and boiled eggs, fried saussages and bacon, different juices and so on. Perfect.
So far everything quite perfect.
But here´s a BIG warning. What ever you do if you choose to stay at this hotel, don´t include dinner !!!! If you choose to include dinner you ought to know that you´re not allowed to eat outside at the great terrace. You must sit inside and it feels like eating in a poor school-canteen. There is a poor buffé. Tomatosallad, olives and two hot dishes to choose from. The hot dishes were terrible. A bit tasteless and newer warm. I never eat food that is suppose to be warm but is almost cold because I don´t want to get sick. I trayed the dinner four times but it always ended up wiht that I left the food and went out to other restaurants for dinner. I spoke to the vaighters (they were all very nice and friendly except for one guy that was very rude and seemd moore interested in helping the a la carte guests outside) about the problem and they sayed they should tell the management. I also spoke to the staff at the reception and they also told me that they would informe the management. I also asked them to get the management to contact me. But the management didn´t bather. I asked them to contact me three times but never heared one single word from them. And this is why I only give the hotel 3. I´m so dissappointed at the management. Seems like they only want your money and don´t care to help their guests if there´s any problems. I´ve been travelling a lot but never met a management so careless and ignorant. The management should learn from most of their staff who always were very friendly.

Room Tip: Choose a room high up with ocean view, you want regret it.

The Pharae Palace has recently been refurbished and is so much better for it with a wonderful roof level restaurant, for breakfast and a large bar and upgraded rooms. Altogether a great find in Kalamata. Make sure you ask for softer pillows though as the standard ones are rather hard. A double room has an enormous super-king bed with comfortable mattress. The a/c was efficient. Buffet breakfast, included in our rate, was excellent - with good filter coffee which makes a big change from the norm in Greece!

Room Tip: Rooms on the 4th floor overlooking the sea have a great view and are quiet.

We use to stay here a night or two before we fly home, its just a 15 min drive to the airport in Kalamata. PP is a modern and clean hotel. We had a familyroom, which means two dubbelrooms with a door between. The rooms were big and beautifull and with a large privat terrace with a view over Kalamata. Love the bar/restaurant on the roof. The beach is just across the street, but the area feels a bit off. No problems with parking. Great place!
