Well, Cherrapunji is heaven on earth (for atleast 5-7 months in a year). You see everything u ever dreamt of, walking of clouds, big waterfalls (though from a far off distance, great enjoyable sight ), excellent weather, beautiful people, less tourists, open empty roads, amazing rivers (where u can sit and have a tea) what else could u ask for ........

    Pros
Location next to a very big waterfall
    Good beds
    Fine Bathroom
    Good Breakfast

    Cons
    Naive ppl at reception, service
Restaurant that offers a great view but average or below average food , Menu heavily limited
    Irreasonable prices
I think half of the rooms are tooooo small for a couple, a bed and dressing table finishes the space
Nothing else ......... not even a small garden .............not a place for children to play....... not even a chair in the open to sit......... or a covered walking area where u can enjoy the rains (for which cherra is famous).....
A lot of space is actually is wasted and not used ...........Hotel it seems is only looking for ppl who can come and stay for a night or two nothing more than that.

The hotel has potential but is probably not thinking enough to innovate
Still................ coz it is located in CHERRAPUNJI, it is enjoyable couple destination......... I dont know about any other property in cherrapunji.

Cherrapunji is different from Shillong coz it is not as commercial and still has beautiful undiscovered spots (avoid going to touristy place....... Just Walk anywhere...... it is great!!!!!!)

We didn't stay at this place, but it looked very good. Must stay in this place if we go there next time. Neat and very clean. We ate at the restaurant. It was very nice. The scenery from the hotel is great. Ambience of the place is good.

I think Polo Orchid is the only choice in cherapunjee if you are looking for a comfortable stay. I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights on Dec 26 & Dec 27 with my family and hotel extended all their warmth and hospitality to make it a memorable holiday for us. Food quality was also good. They even upgraded our room to a cottage which was bigger and comfortable. Thank You so much Polo Orchid for everything. - Naveen Goyal

Polo Orchid is a beautiful resort in Cherrapunji; arguably the best in the area. It is situated at the Seven Sisters waterfall viewpoint, which otherwise costs around Rs.25 to visit. The view from our room was breathtaking once the clouds cleared. The rooms are clean, adequately spacious and have clean linen, hot water and big washrooms attached. The garden of the hotel has spaced out benches where you can sit with your partner/friends and unwind for as long as you like.. Living at Cherrapunji is advisable if you want to cover the Living Root Bridges, which makes a good morning hike from the hotel. The hotel arranges for transport (at extra cost) to the start of the hiking trail or to the bus stop/Shillong.

About the food - you will be limited to dining at the in-house restaurant due to the lack of options (also, it is dark and cold outside). While you can manage tea and some snacks at the local shops outside, you would have to return to the hotel for your meals. The breakfast in the morning is all right with limited continental (cereal, juices, toast ) and Indian options. Oh, and yes, do mention it to the waiter taking your order if you do not like your food spicy. The default preference of the hills is hot!

Overall, the hotel is good, but the hotel is slightly overpriced in my opinion. Makes a good option for people with relaxed budget who are seeking a silent and serene getaway from the busy life in the city! Backpackers can check other options out.
