“Worth than the worst”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2014

We have visited polo orchid resort during may 2014. We were staying in a polo cottage. The room was spacious but the bathroom was conjusted. No electricity was there. We decided to play badminton in the badminton court in the resort itself. There were clothes drying on the net.So we decided to move to its restaurant for snacks. We ordered cheese chilli. Cheese was having a fowl smell
Then we decided to surf the internet but no wifi was available. Then at night we ordered an extra bed for rs 750.The folding was broken and the matress was dirty and it had holes. It seems that all the rejected objects from hotel polo towers is transferred to hotel polo orchid. In breakfast theg have provided us bread juice and aloo paratha. I think this much is sufficient yo decide whether to stay there or not.

During my visit to Meghalaya, we visited Cherrapunjee and stayed here overnight. Location is very good, and gives a breathtaking view of the mountains. A delight for the tourists. Service is just about ok.

Room Tip: Valley Facing are good choice

I think the title says it all. Definitely not worth the charges. Rooms are cramped. Cottages are okay but are way too expensive. Buffet Breakfast served has limited choices. Overall, in my opinion, one may get better options in Cherraunjee at far lesser cost. The only attraction is the view of the Seven Sisters Fall from the Resort. Other than that......

Room Tip: Cottages provide privacy but are expensive.

One of those hotels that is best avoided. The only thing going for it is the great view of the hills and valleys around Cherrpunji and the game attempt at service by hapless staff with no direction or resources to satisfy the guest. - No internet to check reservations or use credit card, limited supply in the kitchen, a front desk with not even the rudimentary understanding of checking in or dealing with the guest. The rooms have no heat, but they will roll in a space heater on request, You will either cook if turned on or freeze if your turn it off. Windows that don't shut do not help when it is nearly freezing outside. No place to hang your clothes either. As the only two guests in the hotel we seemed to have overwhelmed the staff of 8 or 10. What a terrible experience. At least the guys in the kithcen can make a mean omlette.

Well, Cherrapunji is heaven on earth (for atleast 5-7 months in a year). You see everything u ever dreamt of, walking of clouds, big waterfalls (though from a far off distance, great enjoyable sight ), excellent weather, beautiful people, less tourists, open empty roads, amazing rivers (where u can sit and have a tea) what else could u ask for ........

Pros
Location next to a very big waterfall
Good beds
Fine Bathroom
Good Breakfast

Cons
Naive ppl at reception, service
Restaurant that offers a great view but average or below average food , Menu heavily limited
Irreasonable prices
I think half of the rooms are tooooo small for a couple, a bed and dressing table finishes the space
Nothing else ......... not even a small garden .............not a place for children to play....... not even a chair in the open to sit......... or a covered walking area where u can enjoy the rains (for which cherra is famous).....
A lot of space is actually is wasted and not used ...........Hotel it seems is only looking for ppl who can come and stay for a night or two nothing more than that.

The hotel has potential but is probably not thinking enough to innovate
Still................ coz it is located in CHERRAPUNJI, it is enjoyable couple destination......... I dont know about any other property in cherrapunji.

Cherrapunji is different from Shillong coz it is not as commercial and still has beautiful undiscovered spots (avoid going to touristy place....... Just Walk anywhere...... it is great!!!!!!)

We didn't stay at this place, but it looked very good. Must stay in this place if we go there next time. Neat and very clean. We ate at the restaurant. It was very nice. The scenery from the hotel is great. Ambience of the place is good.

I think Polo Orchid is the only choice in cherapunjee if you are looking for a comfortable stay. I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights on Dec 26 & Dec 27 with my family and hotel extended all their warmth and hospitality to make it a memorable holiday for us. Food quality was also good. They even upgraded our room to a cottage which was bigger and comfortable. Thank You so much Polo Orchid for everything. - Naveen Goyal
