I was only talking to friends recently saying how it's a shame that not enough pubs do traditional pub grub well. Some try and get fancy with the menus, others get it so very wrong when cooking and then a lot are overpriced. But the Glenn in Gilstead have got it just right. A good selection of food, that is cooked well, tastes great and delivers on value. As well as the standard menu they also have a good specials board and the deserts are a perfect way to finish off any meal. I have eaten there a number of times and can highly recommend the homemade burger. The kids menu is also really good.
The only downside can be the service. This can be slow to the table but also getting served at the bar can take time. An additional till would be a good idea.

Visited the Glen with family and friends recently. Attentive staff, good value and excellent food. The fish and chips was perfect, with freshly made tartare sauce. The kids portions were really good too. We'll definitely be back!

Service was fantastic but food was only ok. My daughter described the chips as too greasy and she never complains! The triple pork was fine, but with no veg it looked like a heart attack pn a plate.

Called in for lunch for a first visit since its refurbishment, very impressed. We sat in the conservatory with a glass of Saltaire Blonde each enjoying the winter sunshine. The friendly and efficient waitress, Hannah, was soon with us to offer the menus. We didn't take long to make our choices, Gammon for me and Steak & Ale pie for my wife. The meals were not long in coming and looked just the job, and they certainly tasted as good as they looked!
We'll definitely be returning before too long!

We booked the Glen for 23 people for a family celebration, the end of the conservatory was partitioned off for us. We had ordered a huge steak pie, lasagne, chips, peas & sandwiches & chicken goujons for the kids to help ourselves. The steak pie was amazing packed full of tender steak & delicious topping. Many of our family had seconds as they said it was the best pie they had ever had. The lasagne was lovely and the ham sandwiches had quality thick ham in, well done to the chef & his staff. The service was good not intrusive but quick when extra plates etc were needed. Can't recommend highly enough.
