Description: El Caballo blanco restaurant is situated in the historic White Horse building in the centre of Bingley. The Old White Horse Inn in Bingley, West Yorkshire is one of the oldest buildings still in use in the town. It was originally constructed as a coaching inn in the mid-seventeenth century and is an English Grade II listed building. Stone lanterns on the front of the building denote the former owners as the Order of Knights of St John of Jerusalem, it is also famous for its location on the original part of the street. There is one main bar which serves the pub, traditional in style with low ceilings and beautiful stone floors. The fantastic courtyard overlooks the River Aire and is very popular with locals during the warmer months. Here at El Caballo Blanco we think fine dining has a place, but why be regimented to a three course traditional meal. We think you should shake off the shackles of traditional dining and pick and pick again. Select a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Then go back and do it again. So our menu presents a wide selection of tapas which sees old favourites like Patatas Bravas and Calamares alongside some more conventional dishes that explore our interest in fusion - Albondigas (meatballs) served in a sauce (chef's choice). Whatever your likes or dislikes and regardless of how adventurous you are, we at El Caballo Blanco are confident that we can give you a really memorable informal dining experience.

“¡Qué delicia!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 April 2014

I am always apprehensive when eating tapas outside of Spain, as more often than not I am served over-powering dishes, saturated with oil and practically inedible. I am happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised when dining at El Caballo Blanco in Bingley. The service was great, a perfect balance between attentiveness and friendliness from our hostess for the evening. A drinks order was taken first which allowed us to peruse the extensive menu - we opted for the quintessential Estrella Damm, the perfect beverage to accompany tapas. The hostess explained that the tapas experience lends itself to sharing the dishes - which was perfect for us as we had intended to do so. We ordered 5 dishes, one short of the recommended 3 each, but this caused no problem. The dishes arrived two at a time, again, great as this allowed us to sample each one without feeling over faced. The best dish by far was the Artichoke Gratin (Alcachofas Gratinados).

I would definitely come again, and perhaps this time I will manage to get dessert!

¡Muchas gracias! Una verdadera delicia...

“Lovely grub”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2014

I have visited several times now, on different evenings and times of the day. The service makes this place special as we were always made to feel our needs were reasonable and important. The food was great and brilliant value. Local people can pop in for a tapas and a glass of whatever at the bar. I'm really looking forward to sitting In the beer garden supping sherry and eating calamari.

Hi Claire
Thank you for your review, and we are glad to hear you have visited us on a number of occasions. We are glad you referenced that customers can also call and drink at the bar while eating a tapa.

We too are looking forward to opening the beer garden in the summer and serving our lunchtime menu in our courtyard (patio) café.

“Great tapas in Bingley”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 March 2014

Visited last Saturday for tapas - first time of trying and I would highly recommend it. Really great food served exactly as they do in Spain - not rushed, great portion sizes and reasonabe prices. All the staff were well informed about the dishes and were very professional and polite. Drinks also reasonably priced with a good selection. Great to see the place open again and busy. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

Hi Helen
thank your for taking time to review our restaurant. We work hard to ensure the service and food is as good as it can be. The chef's, front of house strive to get it right.
I am really glad you mentioned the price and portion sizes, because we want customers to experience the type of meal that once could only be found in Spain right here in Bingley.

“Great tapas right on our doorstep!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 March 2014

It was a real (nice) surprise to find such a fab restaurant so close to home! We loved the way the food came out in small batches, it ensured that all the food was hot and we had chance to enjoy every dish. The staff were really helpful so don't worry about getting it wrong if you haven't experienced a tapas meal before. The atmosphere was nice, Spanish music would have added to the overall feel of the place, but the music that was played was pleasant and unobtrusive. We will definitely be going again.

Thank you for taking the time to review our restaurant. We are happy that your experience was as we would want it. We select our food from authentic Spanish suppliers who travel fortnightly to Spain.

We have a really wide range of spanish music, but I am guessing the wrong playlist was selected. Please ask for the spanish/english selection on your next visit and relax listening to Mambo, cuban influenced music, and traditional flamenco, then you just need to sit back close your eyes and drift away to El mar, el Vino, y el sol
Gracias

“Authentic Spanish tapas, with real Spanish chef!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 March 2014

I visited this pub/tapas bar about a month ago. We went without booking and the place was fully booked. Nevertheless we were offered a place on a sofa, with a coffee table, which was absolutely fine, as tapas are about informal eating and we didn't need a table as such. The food came quickly , most of the dishes were piping hot, which I appreciate, one or two were less than piping, perhaps had been hanging around in the kitchen for too long? but the food was really tasty. The menu is authentically Spanish, with a hint of Basque. We were quite close to the kitchen and the doors never stopped swinging all evening, waiters in and out.The waitresses were really pleasant and the whole experience was good, The whitebait were delicious, and the aubergine dish was scrumptious. Having lived in northern Spain, some of the tastes were really reminiscent. We plan to go back!

Hi Jane
thank you for taking the time to review El Caballo Blanco, the whole team work hard to ensure that each and every customer has a great experience. Alex our head chef takes great pride in his food, continually trying to make his food as authentic as if you were sat outside a taverna in Sevilla
