We traveled with our friends and neighbors to tour the Villages of Tuscany and stayed here for a week. Alberto and Camilla were excellent hosts. Camilla who works as a tour guide, provided a tour of her beloved Siena where she was born. We also reserved dinner on the terrace on three occasions and the homemade Tuscan cooking was five star. The farm is on many acres of vineyards and olive groves. Alberto produces his own wine and olive oil. The house wine was wonderful a true Chianti Classico right from the vines. We watched the sun rise and sun set over a panoramic landscape. "Belle Italia" It was a truly a unique experience.

My entire family congregated at this beautiful villa in early July 2013 for a reunion and a return to our heritage. We were 9 adults (mostly couples) and two children spanning three generations. My wife and I loved it here. Upon our arrival we were greeted by Alberto and Camilla the owners and proprietors of this working vinyard and olive grove. Their warmth and attention to our needs throughout the week could not have been better. Alberto is a nationally known sculptor whose works adorn the entire property and Camilla is a vibrant, tri-lingual professional Sienese tour guide. They opened their home and hearts to us. They have created a jewel twenty mins from Siena near Vagliagli - a rustic town with a excellent restaurants. Alberto has applied his artistic talents in the design of an indoor stone-lined spa with jacuzzi, Steam and sauna and massage and relaxation rooms as well as a very large sculptured spa adjacent to a large outdoor pool which directly overlooks the vinyard and valley. We rented the entire house which really consists of a number of fully-equipped apartments which can be privatized or allowed to flow freely from one to the other. Breakfast and dinner is taken at a large table on a deck overlooking the entire valley - truly magnificent views! We chose to have breakfast and dinners there on selected days - the food was great! And the wine! Almost all ingredients eaten or drank are from the property and personally prepared. I sat on one of the verandas for lunch one day and realized that my senses were alive - the view of the valley, the sounds of the birds, the flavor of the food, the smell of the flowers surrounding me and the gentle breeze. This is a country home as it should be - wild yet cultivated, very comfortable but not overly luxurious, close to the city but far enough to be away from it all. My wife and I stayed in the cottage (queen bed in one room and two singles in the other with kitchen, living room and bath). Very private and comfortable - we slept with the windows open as it is comfortably cool at night. There is no AC- quite frankly, it isn't needed even in July as the property is hundreds of meters above sea level. You can stay here and come and go as you please or, as we did, get to know Camilla and Alberto and make them part of your experience. We enjoyed their company and hospitality immensely. We have stayed at over forty hotels and villas in Italy over the years - this place felt like our own W.C.

We had a wonderful time. It was much more than we had even hoped for.

Our accommodation was much more spacious than we had imagined: the photos don't do it justice in that sense. Italian friends came to visit and said the view from our balcony must be one of the best in Tuscany. We sat out there every night.

Camilla and Alberto were wonderful hosts. We booked Camilla for a tour of Sienna a couple of days before the Palio: the atmosphere in the city was electric and Camilla's enthusiasm was infectious. Alberto was unfailingly friendly and kinder than we could possibly have anticipated.

We enjoyed buying eggs, vegetables, wine and olive oil from Alberto & Camilla and our final night we had a pizza party where Alberto cooked fantastic pizza in a wood fire oven.

The local area is a joy to explore, and Siena is handy enough.

Highly recommended to soak up the Tuscan way of life.

It can be hot in the bedrooms if it is the heat of summer, but there were shutters to shade the windows during the day, and provided you don't have the lights on when the bedroom windows are open, mosquitos in the bedrooms were no issue for us. You do need repellant/coils if you want to sit outside late into the evening without the odd bite.

Finding it: you will drive up a hill through Vagliagli as you follow the website instructions/your sat nav./the location on Google Maps. Stay on that road (keep the faith) and you will pass through 'Cignano' (there is a sign), come over the crest of a hill and the ? second driveway to the right has a stone Obelisk (like the ones they carried around in Asterix & Obelix). Take that driveway, its not the first house to the left but instead you continue down the gravel drive and you will find it at the end.

My wife and I had the privilege of spending 11 days at Piaggione of Serravalle thanks to our good friend turning 60! The accomodations, grounds and location in the heart of Tuscany couldn’t have been better. It was like coming home after a day of touring, sampling exquisit wines and indulging in true Tuscan meals. Thanks to Alberto especially for making our time special and treating us like life-long friends. If you’re looking for a home away from home while visiting Italy, look no further.

Camilla and Alberto are fantastic hosts. Friendly, energetic, interesting and accommodating. They made us feel at home. We enjoyed chatting with them and learning more about their home, Tuscany, Siena, Alberto's work, etc. Camilla speaks perfect English and was a pleasure to chat with. Alberto may not speak English (and we don't speak Italian), but we managed to have some great conversations in spite of the language barrier.

The property is just gorgeous. Rustic and beautiful with sweeping vistas. Alberto has many of his sculptures throughout the property. We loved it. We stayed in the La Grande portion of the villa which includes 3 bedrooms a large living room, large dining room and a beautiful deck.

We visited with our three kids (17, 9 and 6) and we had a great time. The younger ones enjoyed exploring the farm and visiting the animals.

In addition to a few restaurants within a 5 minute drive, Camilla and Alberto also offer some meal options. They made us a delicious dinner the night we arrived and we had a pizza party the last night. Both meals were excellent!

It is also very convenient to travel to Siena (15-20 min), Florence (45 min) and many Tuscan hill towns.

We really enjoyed our time and highly recommend their beautiful property. We look forward to going back someday. Thank you Camilla and Alberto!

If you have been to Tuscany before, then you are doubtless used to steep gravel driveways. That's exactly what you get at Piaggione - and it's no problem unless you are a nervous driver.
From the beginning - this is not a well signposted place (in fact it isn't signed at all from the road - so make 110% sure you print out the map AND take Camilla's mobile phone number) - you really do have to guess, follow a gravel driveway past two other properties, and then when you see the "Private road" sign, look into the vines and you will see a worn sign for Paggione Agroturismo. Amazing that we found the place, but we did, and actually without a problem. We arrived around lunchtime, well before check-in time, but were warmly welcomed by Alberto. He doesn't speak English, we don't speak Italian, but smiles and a few gestures and remarkably all was absolutely fine. Camilla speaks perfect English, and was around later to fill in the gaps.
The house is one of three on the property (we stayed at Il Nostre). It is large, with 3 spacious bedrooms, 2 with double beds, one with two singles. There are two fully equipped bathrooms with shower and bath in each. A huge lounge area and massive dining area, and a small perfectly adequate kitchen area complete the inside. One worry - there are no mesh screens on the windows - so in warmer weather mosquitoes will visit in droves if windows are left open. Otherwise, the interior of the house is excellent. The WiFi works and works well - no problem to work from here if you need to stay in touch with the office. But that isn't the part that counts in my opinion. Outside the living room and kitchen, with direct access doors is the balcony/terrace area - private to Il Nostre. To say that it is fabulous with the most superb views would be an understatement. This was our 4th year in Italy (8th property we have stayed at) and the outside space here was the best. Views down the valley stretch for ever. The pool area is superb, with a hot tub (no ordinary hot tub!) and large swimming pool, flanked by a beautiful balcony. The gardens are like something from Avatar - an explosion of colour, interrupted by butterflies, bird song and the sound of barking deer. And sculptures! Alberto is a renowned artist, and his work is prominently displayed around the town of Castellina.
The nearest village is Vagliagli, a small place with little to offer, BUT there is a pizzaria and two restaurants (see separate review for the Taverna). Much better is the fact that Castellina in Chianti is a leisurely 15 minute drive away down a dirt track, with several good restaurants. Fonterutoli also has an excellent Osteria well worth a visit, along the same road.
Sienna is a 20 minute drive with all the wonderful sights there.
So in summary, spacious, well equipped, fantastic outside space, views to die for, great pool, friendly hosts. Mesh screens on one window in each room would give it an "excellent" rating.

My stay was a celebration for my 60th birthday with family and friends for three wonderful weeks staying in La Nostra, Piaggione Di Serravalle. It was more than I could of imagined. The beauty of the home, surrounding scenery, to get up and be overwhelmed by all the sites and sounds were incredible. The hosts, Camilla and Alberto made my celebration one that will never be forgotten. They went way beyond making us comfortable and helped us enjoyed our time there. This is a great location because it serves well a home base for day trips throughout the Tuscany region.

They are very passionate, creative, generous people who love comfort and beauty. They have been restoring the property for the past 5 years and are turning it into a very fine yet rustic boutique spa retreat. The wellness room hosts a 4 seater Jacuzzi and an infrared sauna in the panoramic loggia which is completely glassed and kept to calidarium temperatures (25-32°).
