Wonderful place full of ancient charm! Real escape from modern hotels. Surrounded by beautiful nature, but very close to Siena. We took it as our base for our Tuscany trip, its location is perfect to visit the whole province. The host Francesco is very nice and very helpful, the places and villages to visit and restaurants to taste he recommended to us, were all perfect.
We went there 3 years ago and it is still a place we remember often and would like to visit again!

Room Tip: Tower room is charming with beautiful view, but private bathroom outside of the room. We didn't...

We visited Villa Astreo 4 years ago, stayed in the pink room, and this is one of the experiences that makes me want to go back to Italy over and over again.. Beautiful scenery, awesome villa and great owners.. One down side is after watching past palio videos and drinking grapa with the owner, I now have to have grapa after every big meal.. Definitely would reccomend!! Worth driving the dirt roads to get there!!

Room Tip: I had to give 5 stars for all options even though they don't have room service or fitness servic...

A unique and a charmiing villa with amazing views and a tremendous amount of history. Hosts Francesco, sister Chiana and mother Rosana Bonelli are very warm, helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was below average compared to the other places we stayed. rooms are clean. Our stay and experience was marred by the room we were allocated. We booked for three nights & were given the smallest Verde bedroom while the one nighters were given the larger better rooms.
overall the rates we paid were excessive for the bedroom we were allocated.

Room Tip: Please ensure you get the better rooms for a longer stay.

Villa Astreo was not only amazing and beautiful, its had really interestinig history behind it and the hosts were so friendly!!! we were made to feel at home and also so welcome!!!! they were very helpful! we actually extended our stay here for an extra night as it was so good! we hired a car on the second day and drove through feilds of sunflowers and cypress trees to visit the towns of perugia, cortona, florence and (these towns are a must see). This Villa B&B has an artistic vibe and each room is decorated differently (we had the tower room which was awesome) we had a seperate bathroom that was outside of our room but we had no issues with this. We loved the fact that we could walk 6 mins down the road and go to the local Vagliagli restaurants!! delicious! If you are keen to check out the Chianti region you must stop through Vagliagli Villa Astreo as the place is perfect tuscan spot!!

Room Tip: Just check out the rooms on the website to choose the one best suited to you.

We arrived as the sun set over Tuscany and were greeted warmly by Chiana (daughter) and Rosana (mother) Bonelli. After unloading in the tower bedroom and admiring the view of the lights from Siena and San Giminagno from the bedroom window, we were walked by Chiana into the tiny hill town to point out one of its two restaurants. Expecting nothing more than a bar or a brasserie, we find a packed elegant restaurant (“La Taberna”) patio filled with guests from Siena and Florence, enjoying the cool night breezes (after a scorcher day). Our three course meal is one of the best of the entire visit to Europe topped off with the waiter-recommended locally-grown Chianti and braised ribs of lamb w/ rosemary. Next morning, I wander the forest-and-vineyard covered hill by the villa looking for birds. After a lovely breakfast of sausages, yoghurt, cheese, and excellent coffee, Francesco (who speaks English) and Rosana give us a tour of the house with family pictures and history. Rosana’s father was a famous playwright and film personality, her mother a lawyer from Siena, and her husband a general in the Italian cavalry; her husband’s father was a professor of Italian literature who once served as interim director of the Sorbonne. Rosanna’s own story is chronicled in her autobiography (We now have an autographed copy and a picture of her signing it). Amazingly, when she was 18, her equestrian father wrote a musical, Rompicollo (“Break Neck”), about a fictional first woman to ride in the Palio. In 1957, three years after he died, at age 23, Rosana (a talented equestrian since age 6) managed to wheedle her way into riding as a stuntwoman in the film of the play of the same name (after the original stuntwoman quit, complaining of the danger). This led to her cajoling her way into actually riding in the real horse race itself (though many advise against, including her own family). Though she crashed in the race and fell off the horse—thereby starting a typical Palio brawl—she subsequently became quite famous for this and many other adventures. And now she is a warm, 77-year-old, charming hostess of this B&B. What an amazing and interesting family, who make you feel like you are part of the family!

Room Tip: The tower room has the best view. All are quiet.

We had a great stay at Villa Astreo in Vagliagli, Tuscany! The villa's owners are very special people and will make you feel very much at home!

The only thing that could have improved was the weather during our stay, which was on and off drizzling.

The villa itself is in a charming little town called Vagliagli in the Chianti region. The evening that we first arrived, the villa's friendly staff/owners recommended that we check our that grape festival that was taking place in town. We had a blast eating Fiorentine steaks, hearing great music and sipping amazing local wine as we mixed with the locals.

But, I digress. The villa itself sits atop a hill which provides it with grand, sweeping views of the beautiful mountains and valleys beyond and below. The breakfast room has a table that really lets you take in beautiful Tuscan panoramas beyond on a clear day. The property's well-maintained yet rustic gardens are enchanting in and of themselves.

The room we stayed in was the pink/rose room. The bathroom was roomy and nice. The bed was pretty comfortable though a bit on the firm side for my personal taste. However, I nonetheless slept soundly comfortably.
