Description: In our newly opened restaurant and take away, it is all about great tasting natural kitchen that feels like home. We prepare soups and sauces for your pasta, risotto, lots of raw and cooked vegetables, homemade breads with natural yeast and young flours but also meat or fish dishes and sweet breads or schiacciate served with cold cuts and cheese. Everything is homemade on the premises with fresh and seasonal ingredients. We choose our products from local, often organic, producers. It is also a place for vegetarians, raw foodists and vegans and for those who can't eat gluten and are affected by coeliac disease. We use all sorts of beans, chickpeas, lentils and lots of vegetables to prepare special gluten-free meals and we have fresh smoothies or fruit and vegetable juiceson our menu. On saturdays and sundays we serve an amazing english breakfast... You can come and choose what you like from our selection and take it home or eat it here. A complete lunch or dinner menu is available on demand, and we also offer cooking classes! Come and see us soon!

“Tuscany at it best”
Reviewed 12 May 2014

We visited in May. Our group of five wanted to eat but wasn't looking for the full five courses on offer at most restaurants. We stumbled on Cuncinar Cantando and it was simply perfect. The menu is a short list of local specialities, cooked from very local ingredients and prepared right in front of you. You can even order it to take away.

Everything is very informal and designed to make you feel completely at home. For example, if like me you can't choose which of the three different types of anchovies you''d like then they'll give you a plate of all of them. If you want to see your sage pesto being prepared then just hover round the kitchen.

I don't want to go on about it being excellent value for money but it is. Dishes are typically 5 to 6 euro with wine at 6 euro a bottle. What matters is that it is really good. And it is a great way to taste the produce from the area you're in. And if you like something so much that you like the recipe then all you have to do is ask.

Just for the record this is more of a neighborhood kitchen than a restaurant so if you want linen, silver service and a long wine list then this place is not right for you. Otherwise then just make yourself at home.

Dear Guest,
thankyou for writing about us.
Very often guests walk out of the place because they don't like the fact that there is no table service.
For us is very important not to be a restaurant and to make people feel at home. We cook fresh everyday and use only local farms, because we believe in small local economy.
Thankyou again for appreciating and..
come back, for more anchovies

“Delightful!”
Reviewed 17 October 2013

We are Americans who live in Siena and periodically go to Colle Val d'Elsa to shop (some great women's fashion stores), buy local produce and cheese, and sit on the lovely Piazza Arnolfo for a glass of wine.

Cucinarcantando opened in late summer and has become a go-to place for us for great home-made food that can be taken out or eaten in in the small cafe or little outdoor terrace. Everything is fresh, organic and, above all, tasty, tasty, tasty. We are not vegetarians but we will head for the vegetarian lasagna whenever it is on offer. Fabulous whole-grained bread made everyday...great prices, too.

“Very special and original”
Reviewed 29 August 2013

I went here yesterday with 3 friends we wanted to sit out on the patio but unfortunately once we ordered it started to rain! I tried the vegetable lasagna and roasted potatoes for a combined price of 7.50 euro very cheap. The water is free, gas or natural, there is no coperto (service fee) which means you have to do the work for yourself which is no problem. It is quick, delicious and delightful. The only advice I may give is possibly expand the menu a little bit with more choice, I saw the kitchen you have it is grand! I really want to see this place strive!

I almost forgot for those who do not want to sit and eat they do take away as well which is really convenient! BRAVO
