Silvio and Ferdinando were fabulous. We arrived on a hot June day, after a long drive. It was like a breath of fresh air as we sat down to check in. Imagine my surprise when I learned that we have a mutual friend in Northern Italy. He even had been to my family's village (Falcade).

We spent 4 nights here and loved it. We had several dinners on site and others nearby. The food was wonderful, as was the wine. Of course there are many hotels in Italy with great service and great food. What set this apart? It comes down to location. The best of southern Tuscany is a short drive away. Again, there are many hotels that offer the same. This hotel offered seclusion, yet was walking distance to the essentials. The beautiful village of Bagni Vinoni is a short 5 - 10 minute walk. In addition to the hot springs, you can find a cafe and several restaurants. There are a few shops as well. The ceramics store was our favorite. This all leads me to the best reason to stay at this hotel if you like to walk; it is located on the historical Via Francigena. The day hikes were wonderful.

This is the part of Tuscany in the coffee table picture books, not the tour bus crazy part of Tuscany.

We look forward to returning next year.

Stayed in July 2014 as a stop on our honeymoon, had a fabulous time. This hotel had all the charm and character you would expect from a dream Tuscan retreat. The rooms were basic but very comfortable and full of character. The building itself was welcoming and spacious, with grounds overlooking pretty countryside, though not the best we'd experienced in Tuscany. The garden area was very large and well kept and pool was standard but fine to spend a morning relaxing there. The best part were the hosts, they were simply so amazingly friendly. They made our stay very worthwhile and never stopped! The food was equally amazing, offering a slightly different experience from the menus we'd been looking at for the 2 weeks before. Quintessential Tuscan homemade recipes, combined with amazing service and a touch of finesse. We were shown the local area by the hosts and spent a few days driving round the local area which was stunning, easily the best drive we'd even done throughout the "crete" Tuscan sweeping hills. Would definitely recommend this hotel, no real faults, only lots of positives to mention. Andy Liverpool :)

We had a lovely 5-day stay in this beautiful countryside hotel. The location is perfect for exploring the nearby small villages of the Val D'Orcia, such as Montalcino, Pienza and Montepulciano, as well as its many wine farms. The hotel has an excellent restaurant in which we ended up dining every night - everything is prepared fresh by their chefs, bread and pasta included! The swimming pool is just what you need after a whole day touring the surrounding countryside. Excellent breakfast buffet with home made cakes and local charcuterie. On request you can book a massage to enjoy in the beautiful garden that belongs to the property. You can also walk to the nearby village of Bagno Vignoni with its thermal waters and lovely 'osteria' eateries in under 10 minutes.

We had a great time here. The location is exceptional, within motoring distance of many famous tuscan towns. The staff at the hotel were friendly and professional. The food was excellent and we loved the fact that we could walk to the extremely picturesque village of Bagno Vignoni have dinner or a drink there and were encouraged to do so. We would highly recommend this Osteria.

This hotel is a former 16century post office and whilst one is unable to buy stamps one is able to enjoy the stunning surroundings, fabulous garden and pool. Osteria dell'Orcia is a welcoming place Silvano and his co host Ferdinando provide a warm friendly welcome both of whom speak a dazzling array of languages including excellent English. Silvano's wife Eilana is the main chef and her pasta is to die for! Whilst the Menu is not extensive the range of pasta, soups, lamb, beef and fish is fine. The restaurant is not cheap €18 for a main course, the wine list is extensive and expertly selected. Rooms are comfortable if not on the smaller side. There are only approx 16 rooms some in the main house others in an annex. Breakfast is good. If you want a quiet location with Bagno Vignoni close and Pienza only 20 minutes away, then this hotel is a good location. I stayed here on my own for 6 nights and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. I have been travelling to Italy for nearly 20 years and I really enjoyed the ambiance of this hotel. I shall return!

Room Tip: I stayed in rm 26 but try 25 or 32 which overlooks the back of the hotel. All have aircon.

This hotel sits in the most beautiful valley! Owner was very helpful and kind. (Something we didn't always experience on our trip.) He even suggested we walk to a nearby hamlet for dinner...instead of trying to sell the hotel food. Room was nice and spacious. Service was exceptional!
