Start at 1pm and finish at 4pm delighted with great food and and the house wine which is better than many known labels.

The menu is not ordinary and deserves to be explored in more than one occasion. The portions are generous so you definitely need review ore than once to try it all.

Appetizers, first and second course. Vino Della Casa for 26 euro each is simply too good to be true. The owners are super friendly and provide you all the info you need to buy local products in the area. If you are planning to go to Tuscany do not miss this Osteria which is uncommon in a very positive way

After 3 hours of dining, an overall great experience, service, food & atmosphere combined..........when we were leaving, we were at the front door the
owner insisted we stay & have a complimentary glass of his home made lemoncello
with his secret ingredient, infused with basil leaves, well not so secret anymore!!
If you are in Tuscany, make the time to go there.

25 mins north of Acquapendente The Cassia (SS 2) you will find a turn-off to the small Tuscan village of Bagni San Filippo. At the foot of Mt Amiata, this village has some very interesting and inexpensive (indeed free if you like) thermal baths. It also has what is probably my favorite osteria in Italy! Enter Osteria Lo Spugnone and you could be in the Italy I remember from my very first visit 35 years ago. 'Quaint' does not do it justice. From the village, to the venue, to the menu, this place is old-style country Italian! The fare is local - Rabbit cooked in milk, snails stewed for five hours in tomato, pork jowl and fresh sage, home-made blood pudding -- this place is unique! Top it off with a shot of hot espresso over fresh ricotta cheese for dessert and some local grappa. We were tipped off to this wonderful place by a gourmand chef in Montepulciano who said, "If you want something really unique in southern Tuscany, this is the place to go!" He was right! This is Italy as it once was! Take your swimsuits and spend a half day at the baths while you are there. The outdoor public baths are free and (and quite beautiful) and the private baths cost less than 15 euros for a locker w/lock, deck chair, umbrella and hot showers.
