Description: At the Black Oystercatcher Restaurant, we live by the season. We serve fresh produce that grows in our own garden as the seasons dictate. As a result, we offer a fresh dining experience, set in a relaxed country atmosphere. Here fresh food, complimenting our boutique wines, is prepared to order and enjoyed at leisure. The seasons also determine the mood at this Cape Agulhas restaurant: the refreshing sea breeze will cool you down in summer, or enjoy our cozy log fires in the winter months.

Normally go here during the summer months. Popped in for a light winter lunch. Great service great food we both had the seafood bouillabaisse which was nice and spicy, with a generous amount and variety of seafood. Pleased to report that up it it's normal high standard cannot wait to go back in summer

The restaurant is a place that we have been to and enjoyed for now at least three years. Consistently very good with imaginative menus and the finest of the vineyard's house wines.
The whole Agulhas experience is one to savour. From Bredasdorp to Elim to Agulhas itself and Arniston and the brilliance of De Mond and De Hoop. Take your time to enjoy Agulhas. It is so special.

When I want to treat myself or a friend, I visit the Black Oystercatcher. I have not met anyone that did not enjoy their visit. Owners and staff are friendly and the food is out of this world. You have a fantastic view of the mountain and fields while you sip on a crisp white wine pairing well with their well known platters. Vegetable and herb gardens with fresh produce (which are in season) will be part of your meal. Sit back, relax and enjoy the country side.

After an unformal wine tasting we decided to go for the Sunday's specials, the venison pie with beet root chutney and chips was a treat! The calamari, prawn and chorizo stew was a brave combination that proved to make a perfect match with the oaked semillon sauvignon blanc blend. What a nice earthy bistro with exquisite kitchen and wines. Reasonable pricing was also a nice surprise!

Black Oystercatcher is a small boutique wine farm situated on the Agulhas Plains with pleasant accommodation, wine tastings and a very cosy restaurant. Located a bit off the beaten track on the road to Elim between Bredasdorp and Struisbaai. The tastings consist of Triton (a red blend Cab/Sauv and Merlot) Sauvignon Blanc, White Pearl (Semillion/Sauvignon blend) and a really tasty Rose. We didn't stay overnight but we did have a wonderful meal in the restaurant washed down with the aforementioned rose. This whole area is well worth discovering as it is so different from some of the other Cape wine regions. Well worth seeing, just up the road is the historic Elim Village which is an enclave of the Maronite Church and has the oldest working water mill wheel in South Africa.
