This hotel offers the real deal if you're looking for an authentic French experience -- and I mean that in the best possible sense. The owners are sweet, and they'll offer you enthusiastic guidance about all the local attractions (tons of them in the heart of Provence!). If you're into food and wine (not as much my thing, but my sister is a real wine expert), they'll recommend local wineries and restaurants, and they keep a stock of their favorite regional wines on-hand, to re-sell to interested guests. When I say "local" (attractions, wineries, etc.), I'm talking about places within a 2-3-hour drive - there are so many amazing small towns, hiking trails, and so much more in the area.
The hotel itself is set on a lovely property, with a huge garden area in the back, and, if you get a garden-facing room, patios overlooking the garden. All the rooms have patios with small tables for eating in, and that's nice for those who want to eat in occasionally, taking advantage of the basic (but small) kitchen features in the rooms. There's also a beautiful pool in the back, complete with parasols to protect you from the deceptively strong sun. (Weather is a lovely type of dry heat, with cool breezes in the mornings and evenings.)
The rooms are simple but homey -- hand-designed / painted with all sorts of features that are anything but institutional. This is definitely NOT your standard boring-box hotel. The bathrooms and showers are great by French standards, and they've all been upgraded in the past few years. (We've been visiting this property when going to the area annually for almost a decade now.) King beds (two twins which can be separated if need be) have duvet covers, and everything is clean and fresh. The hallways have fresh carpeting.
There's a lovely salon that feels like a room in old-school French film or something, where you can have breakfast if you like. (We prefer to grab something in our rooms, but I can say that their coffee is great, and it looks like they have a big spread of the traditional cheeses, meats, rolls/bread, etc. I CAN vouch for the homemade jam -- I look forward to it every year!
Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a charming home-away-from-home that doesn't feel boring and American and you want to check out a French region rich with attractions.
