“Excellent location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 October 2007

This hotel is on one of the main squares in Astorga which is a delightful town with a beautiful cathedral and a Gaudi palace. I was lucky to have a room at the back of the hotel. Many rooms overlook the square which is very busy with restaurants and bars. My room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was adequate but not as extensive as elsewhere. There is free internet access (although I had to throw the resident children off the pc desk first!) and the hotel has a bar in which you can eat. It was very busy with locals when we were there and so the service was slow but the food was fine. I would stay here again but only if they could give me a quiet room.

  • Liked — Spacious comfortable bedroom
  • Disliked — Would be noisy if you had a room at the front

Astorga is a small city west of Leon. And this small hotel is right on the main square. From our small balcony we could see all the goings-on in the town -- particularly the hikers, cyclists, etc., passing through on the Camino de Santiago. The room was large enough, and breakfast was fine -- even if a little humble. The central square is noisy -- but the balcony doors shut that all out -- even the town hall with its imposing (and loud!) clock -- and an "accompanying" church bell.

  • Liked — the view of the central square
  • Disliked — nothing -- it was excellent!

This is not in León but in the town of Astorga, 45 kms west, but a lovely place for a stopover. Newly rebuilt, spotlessly clean and centrally located, the Astur Plaza gave us a large "Junior Suite" with a double room and another room with a sofa bed where our two teenagers slept. They loved the hydromassage bath.
Staff were very friendly. Convenient for all the spots in Astorga.
The bar downstairs gave us regional cuisine at very reasonable prices. It was also full of locals as was the bustling square outside.
Get there early if you want a spot in the car park (paying extra) at busy times.

Our room overlooked the square and had a great view of the old town hall. One word of warning, for those who are light sleepers, ask for a room in the back of the hotel, since the town hall's bells do strike every 15mins until 1am and restart at 5am.

The hotel's rooms are large, well-appointed with large modern bathrooms. The staff is helpful as is the bar and breakfast staff. Its location on the square means that all of the city's sites are in easy walking distance as are most of the local restaurants.

A nice small hotel is this lovely city, a good place to stop.

New hotel and geared for international travellers ( they speak English). Lovely large rooms, very clean, cheap minibar and the poshest 3 star hotel we stayed in. Underground garage. The hotel overlooks a square with church , and more importantly a few bars and restaurants. This is not the main square in Astorga but we found it had much more life and many more local people. Breakfast was good. Free internet access in lounge area which for us was a boon.
