Good Night Inns Darrington Hotel

Reviewed 18 May 2014 via mobile

Booked a triple room via booking.com for the 17th May 2014, detailing that there would be 2 adults and one child.

As we was at a wedding at Kings Croft Hotel we requested early check in, however this wasn't possible and as a key member of the wedding party, we was unable to leave until late.

On arrival we found out that the children's bed hadn't been set up and the Gentleman on - Peter didn't know where they was kept, after much tooing and foeing he found the beds are pull outs from the main bed, but there was no mattress - only the base which was the only thing they could offer.

Baring in mind this was at 12:30 am with a sleepy little one, we asked for another room to be told they was fully booked. We ended up taking a refund and making the 2 hour journey home.

Definately wouldn't recommend staying here!

Stayed overnight on our way back from Fife, very warm welcome though building looked a little tired from outside. The overnight stay was much better than expected, I had read other reviews which were not altogether complimentary, however, staff could not do enough to make our stay pleasant
beds as usual ultra comfortable. relaxed friendly atmosphere.

We have stayed at several Premier Inns and was good but had a few draw backs...
Arrive early if you want to park, the hotel shares a fairly small car park with the attached pub and when we arrived (6pm) it was full, we had to wait 15 mins (with 2yr old) for a space to open up, when we left in the morning there was only a hand full of cars left on the car park.
Room was a bit small for a family room, by far the smallest we have stayed in with Premier Inns, only 4 of us!
Breakfast was average at best for Premier Inns usual good standards

Great experience, just stayed overnight on business, hotel was very easy to find near the A1 for both north bound & south bound access.
Quiet, comfortable and warm with really friendly & helpful staff.
I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

...but good staff as always - welcoming, friendly and helpful.

Apart from the staff, this Premier Inn is not up to the normal standard. It's dated and public areas are worn and grubby; the narrow stairs and doors make carting luggage upstairs very awkward and the tiny and tinny TV was hopeless. Interestingly, the stock painting was hung upside-down. The restaurant menu was also probably the least appealing we've come across, so we walked to a nearby pub for a bar supper and decent real ale.

Time for an upgrade and refurb I think - in terms of presentation, it's a long way below the average Premier Inn standard.

It's the only time we've felt that a Premier Inn didn't really provide value for money.

Nevertheless, we slept well.

This premier inn is a strange one, it does not fall into the standard cloned hotel which everyone has come to know. This premier inn is just a tired pub which has been Kitted out with some purple carpets and curtains. The room I was given was is in desperate need of refurbishment. Now onto the noise, In all my travels and stays in premier inns, the good night garuntee has always intreaged me, but I have never been given a chance to complain. This hotel however gives you many opportunities, from rowdy pub goers from the pub downstairs who are smoking and drinking outside with the old non double glazed windows unable to block them out to the sqeeky doors and floor boards every where. Definatly one to avoid unless you want a free nights stay!

Oh what a nice room. Such a big bed and a separate room for the third member of the family within the suite. I really enjoyed my stay in Room 12. The restaurant is just next door accessible from the Premier In without needing to go outside.

Room Tip: Ask for Room 12!
