We stayed in Almoholla 51 for a couple of nights in late April, following a strong recommendation from a friend who had been there and thought it 'a bit special'. Spot on - it is small (only 5 bedrooms) but perfectly formed, with attention to detail and imaginative design two of its defining characteristics. 'Characterful' is another one, with every room given its own personality (room 3 where we slept - timber beamed ceilings with a small staircase linking the bathroom to the bedroom upstairs - is to die for). Likewise the discrete sections in the tiered garden behind the house. We spent our second afternoon there by the dipping pool on the upper tier, gazing at the views of Archidona and the sierra overlooking the town. Heavenly.

David and Myles were perfect hosts, giving us a very warm greeting, laying on 5-star breakfasts and offering good advice on what to do and where to go in the town (the valley walk they suggested is a great way to build up your appetite for lunch!). They managed the difficult feat of being largely invisible in a very small space and appearing to materialize out of nowhere when we wanted to speak with them.

Utterly charmed by the place, we wholeheartedly recommend Almoholla 51 and think it is well worth going out of one's way to stay there.

Tom

A gorgeous small hotel located in a tranquil spanish town. The owners are incredibly accommodating and were very helpful. Breakfast was gorgeous and would love to return one day! Fantastic attention to deal and cleanliness.

We stayed here in 2013 & decided to return again in April 2014 as we had such a wonderful experience the first time round.

This is a beautiful property with wonderful hosts in Myles & David.

The attention to detail in this property is remarkable -
Stylish bedrooms with timber beams, poerful showers, delicious hearty breakfasts, relaxing upper pool area & lots of space to unwind - Almohalla 51 has it all!

Myles & David are so helpful & informative without being in any way intrusive (Over breakfast I happened to mention the Semana Santa posters I had spotted around town & that evening David had left one in my room - lovely gesture!).

Myles & David were also most helpful at arranging transfers etc as we do not like driving on the continent.

Archidona is a quiet Spanish town with beautiful narrow streets & make sure you do a walk up to the Sanctuary of the Virgen de Gracia - a stunning hilltop church that overlooks the town.
The views here are amazing (see pictures on this review).

Lots of good dining options in Archidona as well - our favourite was Bar Central - beautiful Spanish food at reasonable prices, just 5 minute walk from Almohalla 51 (see our seperate Tripadvisor review of Bar Central with food pictures).

We are already planning Trip number 3!

Thank you Myles & David...

We stumbled into Almohalla 51 while on a cross andalucia bike trip and were so pleasantly surprised by the quality of this place. What a find! Myles welcomed us into a stylish entry and restored us with beer and the best olives we had in Spain. We received excellent tips on places to see in town and further along on our trip. The place and rooms were clean and so hip and stylish. I had not expected anything this nice and everything was a pleasant surprise. I recommend this place to anyone who even thinks about going to Spain.

The B&B is all lovely - comfy rooms, great breakfasts and a sun-trap with a plunge pool for relaxing upstairs - but what really sets it apart is the feeling of being so well looked after. With information about the practicalities and curiosities of various different activities and locations always on hand from David and Myles, everything was made so easy. Help was on hand before we asked for anything, but was never intrusive - we've never felt so well looked after.

Archidona is an attractive town, but it's small and there isn't much to do. If you're going for more than a couple of days, a car would be essential for exploring all the parts of Andalusia that are within easy reach. We loved Cordoba, and could have spent a couple of days walking around the old and new town and the museums.

Almohalla 51 has everything you want from a place to stay: comfortable, stylish rooms, cozy communal areas, delicious breakfasts and super-friendly and helpful hosts in Myles and David. Nothing's too much trouble and they're both experts on what to do in the area. Archidona itself is a really elegant and authentically Spanish town, you won't hear anyone speaking English and it feels a million miles from the Costa del Sol - even though it's actually just a 40-minute drive. And brilliant road connections mean you can get to Granada in an hour, too. Brilliant all round!

Can't recommend this place enough. We had a great three nights here in March. The rooms are really beautiful and there are lots of places in the rest of the house to relax. We particularly loved the log fire in the evenings. Every detail is attended to and it is beautifully furnished. Breakfasts were amazing and Myles was brilliantly helpful on where to go. We loved the peace and quiet - thr town is ideal for anyone wanting to stay off the tourist track but there is still lots of things to do nearby. We will be back in the warmer weather to try out the pool!

Room Tip: We loved room 3
