First visit to Tiroran House, even better than we could have imagined. Laurence welcomes you with open arms when you arrive, making you feel so much at home. The room was superb, beautifully finished. Laurence was always more than happy to offer suggestions for places to visit or walks to go on, although we would need to go back to attempt to get to all of the places suggested,we couldn't pick! We started with the grounds of Tiroran House, taking a stroll down to the beach within the grounds as the sun was going down. We were given a menu to select dishes for dinner that evening, could have eaten everything. The food was absolutely delightful from start to finish. It was really nice to meet for dinner with the other guests prior to dinner for canapés and drinks. We ended up chatting to everyone all night and continued after dinner which only added to the whole experience. We met such nice people and Laurence was on hand to offer his recommendations for a nip of whisky to wind down the night! Every member of staff was delightful and friendly throughout our stay. The view from the breakfast room in the morning is breathtaking as you look out over the Loch and I did not feel rushed even once. We were very much left to relax and start our day at our own pace which is what you need from a break away. From the moment we drove up to Tiroran,we felt a complete sense of escapism, and Katie and Laurence truly opened their home to us. We felt like friends rather than just guests and that added to the whole weekend. Will definitely be back and would recommend a visit to anyone, you won't be disappointed.

Superb Country House in an outstanding environment (garden, private beach, view on the Loch), nearby sea eagle watching spots. On the scenic coastal drine of the isle; less than one hour drive to reach departures for isles of Iona and Ulva (go and see the sea eagles, the puffins on the isle of Staffa and its cave, but also the abbey on Iona). Very relaxed atmosphere and outstanding cuisine. The owner is a model of hospitality and will help you with the organisation of your trips and journeys. Arriving through the ferry of Fishnish and departing from Craignure to Oban are two very nice ways to discover also the Sound of Mull.

Room Tip: We had the West room, definitely one of the largest in the main house: outstanding! The East room i...

There is no doubt Tiroran is in a wonderful location. The staff are welcoming and Lawrence and Katie, the owners, do everything possible to make one's stay memorable. Susan and her front of house staff are superb too. Dinner is expensive (£48), especially so when one considers there are only two main courses offered. Insufficient seasoning led to a lack of flavour in some of the dishes which was disappointing. We also feel that we do not necessarily wish to have three courses every evening but no alternative is offered. That said, there is a lovely atmosphere in the hotel and guests are encouraged to socialise before/after dinner. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and the room a good size. The garden is beautiful and it is possible to walk down to the lochside. There is also a very pleasant walk from the hotel along the hillside to the Fossil Tree.

Wonderful, and remote, location. About 1 hours drive from Craignure, unless you are going against the traffic flow. Single track roads, mostly. The hotel is close to the sea Eagle watch point, and you may see any wildlife from White-Tailed eagles down to siskins.

The grounds are beautiful, with view over the loch. Wonderful breakfast, and better dinner. All gather for an aperitif before dinner at a defined time, so everyone gets to meet.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights and we had a wonderful time. So friendly and welcoming. We ate here both nights and the food was really nice. We stayed in the Annex room which was comfortable but had no shower so had to use the bath. The gardens are spectacular with brilliant views over the loch. Evening can be very formal which I enjoyed. During our stay most of the guests were elderly. We loved to listen to their life experiences which was really interesting. Laurence the owner is fabulous. He is the "perfect" host" who really makes you feel so welcome. We are looking forward to returning to this hotel.

From the very first moment we felt welcome and were delighted by the accommodation available. We appreciated the help given to organise a trip with a naturalist to see some of the interesting wild life Mull has to offer and to facilitate a visit to Iona and the Abbey as well as a boat trip to Staffa. Needless to say the food was very good. I hope one day I can revisit Tiroran House.

We stayed here for 2 nights in the Rose room and ate in both nights, partly due to the remote location. The room was lovely, large king-size bed and very comfortable, wonderfully quite. We would not have know that there were so many people if we hadn't seen them for dinner. There are 'pre-dinner' drinks in the sitting rooms prior to dinner. Excellent selection of gins for a lovely gin and tonic. The meals were also nice as was the breakfast. The grounds are amazing, we walked the path down to the water and it was lovely.

Room Tip: The rose room was lovely and was very quite.
