We visited the restaurant for a lazy lunch midway through a skiing holiday at the end of March. The restaurant came and picked us up at our chalet in Saint Martin de Belleville and afterwards we walked back.

The service was friendly and efficient but the first time we have been greeted by the question 'do you want us to talk in French English or Russian during your meal' at a restaurant, a taste of the future.

We chose the four course tasting menu which with the extras resulted in an effective eight course meal. The food is classic French but with plenty of modernising twists and was pretty much faultless, which you would expect at €391 ex tip for a two star restaurant.

... and fortunately not "Le Pire". We had dinner last week at La Bouitte and it has been fantastic from beginning to end. We took the discovery menu with 5 surprises. We were asked to choose between 3, 4, 5 or 8 surprises and also asked what we did not like and it will then apply to the whole table. Unfortunately my sister in law mentioned she did like sweet bread (Riz de Veau). So, we had: smoke trout, snails, asparagus, beef and a desert called "Le Lait dans tous ses etats" which I would translate in "Milk in various form, shape or taste". We also asked the Somelier to choose the wines on our behalf so it would match best with our surprise dinner... he did a wonderful job and this is an experience I would strongly recommend. We will be back..... without my sister in law and this time I'll have sweat bread.

After a recommendation from friends we attended this restaurant as a special treat. While the food was good, I have to say that the service was shocking. Surely a Michelin Star should be for the overall experience, not just the food. When we arrived, we were handed coat hangers and almost asked to hang up our own coats. We were then seated in the small lounge and not offered a drink until we asked. We then had to ask for the menu's and finally after a couple of times of asking they brought the impressive wine list. 20 minutes later without further communication and empty glasses, we asked for another drink and for someone to take our order! Once at the table the food was excellent, but again the service was poor and we ended up serving our own wine! Finally, despite asking to have our coffee at the table they kept trying to move us through to the all too small lounge. At 1,000 euro's for 4 people, I expected the service to match the food and it clearly didn't.

We came on the 31st of Dec together with our nephews and our Family and had such a wonderful and memorable experience that I can consider it one of the top 5 meal experiences we have had.

The setting, the level of detail of attention and the quality of the food well deserves its 2 stars.

Wine pairing was good though could have been better.

Over all we very much enjoyed our last lunch of 2013.
