We come to Maldives quite often, usually seeking for nature, privacy, comfort. And if you are frequent traveller there, you usually note every new opening of luxury resort, know difference between corals and fauna in various atolls and know exactly what you want to get/feel/see on your next trip.
After visiting Noonu atoll several times (from Viceroy), snorkeling on every second reef and tilla in the area, and realizing that it is the best place for snorkeling in Maldives we definitely wanted to return. It took us a year waiting since we first saw a construction site and in the end of January 2014 we returned.
Luckily it was not our first visit to recently opened hotel (Grand opening took place on November 2013) and we were ready for some "irregularities", which usually dissapear in a while. And of course there were some. But in general except for some "natural cases" you could never guess that this hotel was finished only two months before and didn't even have any palm tree six months ago. Amazing villas, great food, the best staff ever which provides the best service. As became normal for Maldives all the best employees from all over archipelago come to try better life in new luxury resort. If it happens to coincide with professional and motivated management - result may exceed any reasonable expectations. And so happened here.

It starts from arrival to Male. New luxury lounge in the airport to wait for the seaplane, which looks like mini private jet and takes only hotel guests. That makes local flight expectation time much shorter and far more comfortable.

Location. After 40 minutes flight you arrive at the hotel which occupies in reality 5 islands in the middle of turquoise lagoon. 3 of them interconnected and 4 of them artificial. Actually Rooms stand on three connected islands while one more is SPA and another is for "owners villa" (owners villa was still not finished so construction site might also be considered as a minor "irregularity"). Main island is natural and accommodates restaurants, bars, boutique (with some nice branded souvenirs), lobby and diving center (on the jetty).

Accommodation. This hotel has the best decorated, equipped and most comfortable rooms in Maldives! All of them are similar with difference in location and some of them have second building for large families. Every villa is divided into three areas: living room, bedroom and bathroom, with high ceilings, huge windows and enormous swimming pool with deck for sun beds. Even water villas have a 10 m. long pool. Room facilities are the most modern and comfortable I saw in Maldives. You can manage everything from lighting and TV to window shades and door lock from Ipad.
Three interconnected islands together make something like crescent and here come difficulties. Unfortunately nature doesn't distinguish brands, so this resort's crescent became simply an artificial obstacle for currents and winds. So when in December wind changed, southern (outer) side of crescent became open for nature. Some beach damage, some palms fallen down, some rubbish brought up... Usual for new hotels in Maldives. In a while waves will bring more sand from lagoon and the islands will become settled. In May wind will change and there will be no problems at all, because Northern side of hotel is protected by lagoon, but in January it brought some difficulties with allocation, because living in some of the rooms was impossible. But front desk and management was acting fast and helpful so we didn't really noticed that weather disadvantages. Every day people were working on the problems so I'm pretty much sure that it will become memories from the past by next winter season.

Service. It is really outstanding. Never seen before in Maldives. And, surprise, it is everywhere. You have a majordomo (best who is a chief of cleaning team. He or she learns your preferences, habits, routine and you always have what you want or need in proper manner and in time. Add to this perfect communication skills. Same for restaurants, reception, boutique... You really feel yourself special guest here. Same for General Manager. Renato is Fantastic person himself and you really see his achievements in leading and motivating the staff and managing the resort. Aisha and Yusuf - our majordomos became like part of family for us and Natalia from front-desk did great job satisfying our needs (three rooms including aged parents and lots of special requests:). Hotel team is one of the best memories we have from our stay in CB.

Food. There are four restaurants in the hotel. Food is great everywhere, even in room service menu. Fresh fish (as well as all the rest) cooked by really descent chiefs. And what is my favorite - if you know what you like - just ask, no mater if it is on menu. "1947" is haut cousin and works only week-end. You need advance reservation (I tried once, but was 9th on the waiting list). "Diptyque" is a food show. Half Japanese, half Spanish. Joint table in each half (tastes differ, not actually my type of place). "White" bar and restaurant - main facility. Really great. Good food, nice lounge atmosphere at the pool site, amazing architecture. "Deelani" - the best in my opinion. Located on the main jetty close to diving center (just like Fish in W). With mostly seafood and asiatic menu. Here you can really feel like dining in the open sea :)

Snorkeling. This is not the strong point in this hotel. Cheval Blanc doesn't have any house reef (at least accessible from the beach). So if you like exploring sea-life by island-hopping like us, you need to rent a boat. But the thing is at the time of our stay there were no boats on the island... Not quite true, they had two dhoni's which brought guests to SPA and one diving dhoni. But all privately booked snorkeling speedboat trips around were done by 27 seats water taxi from neighboring islands (not always clean and working)... Diving center management lived own life on another not so customer oriented planet... (unfortunately it became usual for luxury hotel in Maldives). Although boat crew was fantastic. So we had some funny stories there.
A HUGE thanks to Renato (GM), who couldn't change the situation (Luxury Cheval Blanc boats and yachts were simply late to arrive, one of them appeared on final day of our stay and the rest were following), but after being involved managed to make it all look reasonable and made us feel comfort.
By the way. If you like snorkeling I recommend taking a speed-boat and exploring Noonu atoll. It's unforgettable. Lots of turtles, eagle rays, mantas in a fish "soup" over coral gardens. My favorite places: Felivaru, Kedhivaru, Huivani, Raafushi (unusual corals and great caves for diving as well) and Karinmavattaru (loots of dolphins, although they come even to hotel lagoon for mating!).

To sum up, it was our best Maldives vacations so far. Even parents, who are quite picky and demanding due to age were totally happy for the first time. I wish all the best to the resort and its team, especially in settling the rest of "irregularities" and sure that we will return there soon.

Room Tip: Every room is great, no mater beach, garden or water villa. If you come with friends or large family...

Cher Monsieur,

Allow me to first thank you for your detailed review! Such comprehensive comments are always very valuable for us and I can assure you that we are already working on the areas of improvement you have highlighted.

We are happy to read that despite some minor adjustments that still needed to be done, you and your family truly enjoyed your stay with us. We are really proud of our spacious and inspired Villas but most of all, we are blessed with a passionate team of Ambassadeurs who help us make our guests’ stays unforgettable!

Most of the “irregularities” you unfortunately experienced have already been fixed - we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of our new dive and excursion Dhonis and of course our 100 foot azimuth yacht , making the exploration of nearby underwater marvels and surrounding islands easier for our guests. Likewise, the climate challenges you mention are settling and the island is recovering its original beautiful beaches.

Construction of the private island Owner’s Villa is going smoothly and we hope to finish all the exterior work soonest and then continue to work on the interior design; we are hoping to make this stunning 4-bedroom villa available to larger parties travelling together as of Fall 2014.

Aisha, Yusuf and Natalia join me in thanking you for your very kind words that touch us all – they too hold fond memories of you and your family!

We thank you once again for having taken the time to write such detailed review and are truly looking forward to welcoming you all again for a stay filled with lasting underwater and terrestrial memories!

With warm regards,

Just got back from stunning Cheval Blanc and recommend it highly to anyone.
Service is impeccable. The hotel facilities are wonderful and the food offerings are simply the best.
Chef Laurent and his team are doing an incredible job to suit everyone’s pallet at each of their restaurant tables.
Renato the General Manager ensured nothing was too much trouble during our stay and made us feel at home from the moment he greeted us on the island.
Our room was simply perfect and set with everything one could only wish for.

Again, Kudos to the Cheval Blanc team and thank you again for a memorable experience.

Regards
Laurent

I am sorry it took so much time but it is difficult to put in order all of my impressions in just a few lines! Well let me try…

My boyfriend and I have been to the Maldives over 10 times (O&O, Taj Exotica, Jumairah Vittaveli and other leading names). A year ago we learned of the forthcoming opening of Cheval Blanc Randheli and we looked forward to its start.
In the middle of December 2013 we visited the so discussed and modern island. After the long trip to Male, from the airport they took us to the comfortable CBR lounge where we were greeted with freshly squeezed juices while we were waiting for the private hydroplane… It is more expensive but the moment you board you understand why you have spent your money.
The plane – brand new with regulating, leather seats, couch, pillows and carpet branded with the logo of the hotel. There was nothing in common with the old, dirty and worn out planes we have flown with before! I have always been scared flying with them – I have no confidence in them! When I boarded the CBR hydroplane the trip took a whole new light – comfort security and convenience!
The greeting on the island was fitting for royalty! On the way to our new home I was impressed with the vegetation…. Striking like I was in a jungle… From the photos we had seen we had really liked our house but in reality – Oh My God! Far bigger, spacious and luxurious! The best we had ever gotten! A kitchen, living room, wardrobe, two toilets and a bathroom… In front – a huge pool with a spacious terrace and a stunning view of the ocean! On our table was a bottle of VC and sweet temptations waiting for us… When we saw that everything can be controlled via the iPad we were shocked. We are not people with big knowledge in the world of technology. Our smiling and devoted butler was nice enough to show us how it is done. The room was supplied with everything you can ever want, even more! You could pick even the materials of the household linen! There are 6 restaurants and bar by the pool where you can have lunch…A lot of choices for every taste. The food everywher
e was wonderful which made it really hard for us because we try to stay in shape… The result – we couldn’t stop indulging ourselves!
In result we had to devote more time to sports. Just let me mention that there is even a golf simulator and two tennis courts! The diving was amazing. A great way to forget about everything and transfer yourself in wonderland!
The SPA center was on another island which was just a minute away with a boat… Professionals work there which ever massage you pick you won’t make a mistake… For ten days I tried all of them! The products they use are from the well-known company Guerlain … In every locker room there is a dressing table needed with everything that is needed for a woman’s makeup which is supplied by the same company.
We knew the resort was new and we were prepared for imperfections but there were none we were charmed! The design was pretty impressive. Nice, helpful personnel, punctual and ready to do everything to please all of our caprices. I don’t think that the prices are high. Probably are around 5% higher than the other leading resorts. And what you get can’t be measured with anything else!
If you are a person who wishes the best for himself and can afford it this is the best place and only place!
Thank you CBR for making our ten days wonderful…
Thank you for making us feel special during every moment of our stay!
We left our hearts with you, expect us soon!

Chère Madame,

Thank you for having taken the time to write these passionate lines about us! Having visited The Maldives over 10 times you certainly have a very critical and knowledgeable eye and we are therefore even more thrilled to learn that you and your partner enjoyed your stay with us and that we were able to go beyond your expectations!

We are always sincerely happy to learn that our guests appreciate all the little things we do to try to make their stays memorable - from the Gourmandises offered by our Majordomes to the tailor-made experiences concocted by our Alchemists… and are pleased that so many of them made it to your heart!

Be sure that all our Ambassadeurs are looking forward to having the pleasure to welcome you again soon, and make your future stay, either here in Randheli or at our sister Maison in Courchevel, as memorable as this one!

Thank you once again for all your kind words, and à bientôt!

For our 11th trip to the Maldives, which also happened to be our honeymoon, and while previous stays included One&Only Reethi Rah (twice), Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru, Taj Exotica, Constance Halaveli, Jumeirah Vittaveli, and The Residence, we did not know what to decide, in the perspective of year after of skyrocketing rates. We thought that our absolute favorites (O&O or FS) were just not worth the value, and we thought that the best value around was The Residence. So either that, or splurging on a once-in-a-lifetime vacation, as Cheval Blanc Randheli seemed to be.
This is just what we did. We are just back from a 10-night vacation. Broke, but with stars in our eyes. The know-how that has been deployed on that property is simply stunning in all respects: architecture, design, style, building quality, services, food and beverage, attention to details. Nothing was too small to consider. Nothing was left out. While this is still a very new resort (despite 5 years of works before actually opening), everything advertised is on offer: lounges, restaurants, spa, … We did not notice any teething problem, which is quite an achievement already. Some wrinkles service-wise, although minor, will be ironed shortly, as they are reported. However, and this should be noted as extraordinary : whatever you see on the website is there, down to the smallest detail. Whatever is displayed in the designer’s pictures, you find them. What is promised is delivered.

WELCOME IN MALE AIRPORT : we were among the first out of the terminal, to find the Cheval Blanc greeter, absolutely the most gracious and efficient we ever encountered there in such function. He took care of the luggage check-in, whisked us in a Volvo SW for the 5-minute ride to the sea-plane terminal. We were greeted with freshly squeezed juices into the very sleak lounge. We did not have to wait more than 20 minutes to board the exclusive sea plane.

SEAPLANE TRANSFER: epitome of travelling in style ! The plush inside looks like a private Falcon jet. We were offered a branded pouch with a writing pad, tissues, ear plugs. We were airborne probably 45 minutes after deplaning from Emirates. Although we felt special, we originally felt that the 1450 euros return fare per person was nothing short of extortionate. We requested to fly the standard seaplanes, but that did not prove to be an available option. Paying 60% of the value of a business return flight from Charles de Gaulle, seemed and still seems over-the-top, but we had to comply. I hear that this is going to change, and that they will also offer the standard transfer. Although to be honest, the big bonus is keeping the wait, and therefore the waste of time at the bare minimum. But for that kind of money, a glass of champagne would have been nice …

WELCOME on the island by senior management, right on the jetty. This is a “Maison”; so unlike an ordinary hotel, there is no lobby. We rode a buggy straight to villa #2, where our majordome Fazeel was introduced to us. He did the check-in, working the passport and the paramount credit card.

The STYLE & DESIGN of the resort is really special. At last, something goes away from the all-around balinese / thai / Maldivian kind. Lavish use of dyed concrete in the walls, either straight or curved, along with glass or open air. Outdoor space is often shaded by an artifact (sorry, don’t know the word) often used in southern California in the 1960s, providing some relief but not all from the sun. In some public areas, shutters inside the windows provide a clear Florida feel. The overall feel is one a light and comfort. Fantastic work here.

We had the “basic” ISLAND VILLA. Villa is a vast understatement. The villa actually qualifies as a mansion, bordering palatial in all respects. We were stunned. The lay-out is fantastic. Wherever you are (lounge, dining pergola, bedroom, lying in bed, bathroom, shower, except the dressing room and toilets), you enjoy your own millionaire’s view over the turquoise lagoon. The twin 3-fold windows can be pushed in wall pockets of the lounge, so that the inside genuinely feels outside. The furniture are fantastic looking, and awesome quality. The bed is out this world, but I was too lazy to check the brand (not crazy about the dark sheets myself, we prefer whites). The roof (vaulting, really) of bamboo, hand-assembled and woven should be regarded as piece of art in its own right. Probably towering over 8 meters high. Two sets of revolving doors can separate the lounge from the bed room, and the bed room from the bathroom. Easy to work out. Each and every window has a set of electric operated dimmer and/or black-out drapes. Really neat. The lights, aircon, sound systems can be operated vie an iPad, or through wall switches. We never got 100% comfortable with any of the solutions. The wall switches are too small, with barely readable icons; the choice was absolutely design over function. No huge deal. Extremely efficient aircon, if a little too humid. Two Loewe TV sets, including a pop-up one in the bedroom, are combined with a Bose surround sound system, fully efficient only if windows are closed (good point).
Bathroom includes his and her washbasin, a stand-alone tub, and a 2-person shower stall with 3 walls of glass, draining perfectly well, and looking out onto the garden. Beautiful details include huge mirrors with full “galuchat” (shark skin) frames, also used as accents on some cabinets. Everything you may want to use in a bathroom is here : shampoo and shower gel in the shower stall (dispensing bottles, odd at that level), conditioner, body scrub, hand cream, body lotion, dry body oil, soaps, all using the Island Chic fragrance, exclusively created by the Dior perfume designer, and totally appropriate. The supply of those is never short. It should be noted that the floors anywhere inside ou even outside are totally safe to walk with bare wet feet; we never felt we might even start to slide. No idea what kind of stone it might be
Dressing room offers huge storage space, totally adequate for those flying private, that is not constrained with commercial airline luggage policy … And great, specifically designed and branded hangers.
Outdoor space consists in a dining pergola at the back, large seating space with incredibly comfortable sofas and armchairs, the 12.50 meters grey granite infinity pool, 1.3 meter deep, chaises lounges with umbrella, and out on the beach a set a Unopiu loungers. Those are a design statement, comfortable also. Problem lying down into, or getting out of them! Seating options are therefore plentiful, depending on the time of the day, your choice of shade or sun.

HOUSEKEEPING is made by a team of 2 attendants twice daily. The villa is kept pristine at all times. They do a great job. Very minor glitches would be not replenishing some items: envelopes, lights, or tiny bottles of Island Chic pillow sprays. Just ask for them, and you get them.

FOOD is good. Really good. Breakfast is available al fresco at WHITE. Limited buffet options are available in an airconed room include a selection of fruits, cereals, homemade jams, breads and pastries, probably the best we have ever had in the Maldives, all fresh and crispy. On top of that, a wide menu is available for all egg dishes, cold cuts, cheese, smoked fishes, eggs, Asian fares and from specialties from the griddle. This is an excellent way to do it, since they are all made on order. It makes for the best possible quality, with no waste. You may order as many as you wish.
Considered the limited number of villas, 45 only, the choice of dining outlets is vast. Deelani sits on the main jetty, and features mostly simple fares, including pasta and pizza, grilled fish. Quality is excellent. White features more elaborate fares, both fish or meat. Dyptique is a 2-side restaurant for dinner, both with a 9-course set menu ($230), one Japanese and one Spanish (manned by Chef Javier, who ended cooking a 15-course dinner for us, leaving us stuffed to the rim and begging for no more). Finally 1947 is also a set menu ($350), but we did not try it (too complicated for our taste there). I understand thet the set menu policy is ound to change shortly, for a more traditional menu. Additionally, Table de Partage is a variation around 1947, available for one party of guests only. And then Carte Blanche is available, which is the local name of room service, based on White’s menu. Prices are steep, beyond anything we experienced before. Do not expect to spend anything lower than $250 for 2, outside of wine. Caesar salad with prawns sets you back $38, Wagyu burgers $80, but Angus burgers $40 only, grilled lobster tails $130 (3 pieces), grilled tuna steak $80. It should be noted that, because it is the Maldives, all meats are halal, that would be a waste of money for my taste. And I do not see the reasons there, as pork is available is all kinds and shapes. On the only night when Dyptique and 1947, a barbecue buffet is available at White, reasonably prices at $250, with an outstanding starter buffet, followed by all you can eat lobster, tiger prawns, tenderloin, chicken barbecue buffet, grilled to order.
Carte Blanche works very good, either for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It is served in the privacy of your villa, either in the dining pergola, the inside day bed or by your pool. You only have to plan it with your majordome, who sets it up and gets you started. No charge for that service.
We did not use the White bar, set by the main pool. It is apparently very quiet. We only heard it: I do not understand the point of live entertainment in such a small and quiet resort. Especially when the woman singer is not good, scorchingly out of tune when failing to reach the trebles of any international standards.

The SPA is located on its own island. Not cheap (around $4.5 per minute), but expertly, efficiently done. There is no accent on theater or rituals or moods. It is straight to the point: amazing professional therapists, providing the best of massages along with Guerlain products. And no attempt to hard selling afterwards.

Great DIVING center, manned by quintessentially British Natalie. We had the best of times with her. As often in other high end resorts, we were the only 2 divers on the boat at any time. She would be most accommodating on what we would like to see, how we would like to do, departure time. She is extremely knowledgeable on the area and on the wild life. The service provided is second to none. They also have underwater video on offer, and it is well worth it, the guy is a great professional. Although we were expecting the worse price wise, the actual price were twice what we have experienced anywhere else. A single dive sets you back around $260. Even if quality is there, this is really wild, but that’s not Natalie’s fault.

PATRONS are a mixed crowd of several nationalities : West Europe, America, Australia, Russia and East Europe, and China. Despite being the start of Chinese New Year, we did not feel overbeared, and it is company policy to keep any single country under number control.

SERVICE is up to standards. First of all, senior management is visible at all times, and always enquires if everything is right. To start with GM Renato, followed by Front office manager Elsa. They do a fantastic job at making any guest (I suppose) and certainly us special and valued guests. You get to interact most with your majordome. Fazeel would make anything happen for us. Whatever you ask him, he gets it for you. Dinner reservation, lost charger, more towels, TV issues, whatever. Speaking excellent English, he never gets anything wrong, and straightens anything up for you in minutes. Rely on your majordome, you will not be disappointed. Presada in food outlets also make a great job, and Lulu the greeter is extra sunshine in an already beautiful wether. Servers everywhere are up to Maldivian standards: smiling, looking like they enjoy their jobs. Sometimes a little too present when enquiring about the details of your day, but whatever ! Nice details, anyone you come across in the resort will greet you in French, as this is a French operated resort. Attention to details, down to the bicycles customized with our initials …

Cheval Blanc is a LVMH resort, one out of only two. We liked the fact that absolutely no cross marketing is made at any time, except for the Guerlain spa, and the wine list mostly carrying LVMH brands, but not only those. Even the concept store does not carry any LVMH brand, or only Hublot watches. The only hint at LVMH parenthood are 2 art books in the villa. This is smart.

Now, about MONEY. Well. Or rather, ouch. We are by no mean wealthy people, and we knew we would be splurging. God, did we splurge ! Although they are repricing the food outlets down, and not marginally, the price tags are massive. But we did not feel resentful about it. We finally thought it was fine, and we enjoyed every minute of it. Value is delivered, and consistently. And they spend back on guests, on little and big things.
Let me just list a few things : bottle of Moet & Chandon champagne was waiting for us on day 1 ;
welcome jet lag massage at the spa ;
my husband’s birthday was widely acknowledged by all, culminating in a stunning room arrangement at night, replete with a cake and Dom Perignon bottle,
diving video was a gift, bottle of wine for our last dinner,
massage at the spa to make up for some noise that occurred during our previous treatments at the spa,
complimentary in-villa mini bar replenished twice daily with soft drink, premium juices and munches,
Cheval Blanc custom gifts coming with the bill the last evening, free use of the villa until check-out at 5.00 pm.
This is way more than we ever got anywhere else, and a very smart way of doing business.

ANY GLITCHES ? Only two, and minor really.
The biggest from a guy I will not name, at one restaurant, who went bragging on how he had travelled the world, and how lucky we were to be at Cheval Blanc, since it was designed for the owner’s acquaintances only, and that was the occasion for us to rub shoulders with princes and princesses and company owners. I am quoting this. This was embarrassing, mostly for the guy.
The second one from “MC”, a mean, obnoxious, loud woman, alleged etiquette and protocol specialist, visiting with her brother (!),making sure we could hear her from 10 meters at breakfast, commenting to their faces how this server would do this the wrong way, this other person doing that the wrong way. In my books, you do not make comments to the staff in front of guests.

CONCLUSION : thumbs up ! Cheval Blanc Randheli genuinely sets new, stellar standards in the Maldives. We were in awe at all moments. We had huge expectations, and they delivered right up to them or beyond. And we can get picky … A team of outstanding professionals makes an outstanding job in a jaw dropping environment. We probably won’t be able to afford it again anytime soon, but who knows, we would be back in a heartbeat.

Thanks to all for making our honeymoon so special.

Chers Messieurs,

My team joins me in thanking you for your detailed and comprehensive feedback.

We are so pleased that your honeymoon stay with us lived up to your high expectations and that the overall experience comforted your decision to "splash" on this special occasion!

We have duly noted the few shortcomings you have mentioned and have reviewed them with our teams in order to ensure they do not occurr again - we could not agree more with you that all training needs to be done seamlessly to our guests and fully respecting our highly motivated Ambassadors.

To answer your question, the floors in the villas are made of engineered compressed stone, which makes for this non-slippery and comfortable surface to walk on. As for the shampoo & gel dispenser in the showers, we opted for this format for eco-friendly reasons as it reduces plastic waste.

As you have mentionned, our pricing scheme has and is being reviewed to ensure that we offer a wider range of choices and are perfectly aligned with what is customary in other high standing resorts in the Maldives where appropriate. You may have noticed that we were initially quoting our prices inclusive of taxes, contrary to what is customary in the Maldives, which had the convenience of showing the final price to guests, but the inconvenience of making our prices appear higher than that of other resorts.

If and when you wish to indulge again, I would be personally delighted to assist you with reservations here at Randheli, or at our sister Maison in Courchevel

With my best personal regards,

As with everything LVMH touches, luxury is taken to a completely new level. I’ve frequented numerous luxury properties worldwide but nothing has compared with our experience at Cheval Blanc Randheli. No expense has been spared and the attention to detail is beyond exceptional. They’ve thought of everything… touches such as your initials on the back on your own private bicycle. …the stunning architecture and interiors by Jean- Michel Gathy that ooze individuality, grace and the understated elegance of LVMH throughout…the lush fabrics, cathedral-high ceilings, a series of one tonne bamboo doors that discretely separate living room from the bedroom, generous and thoughtful in-room amenities, espadrilles in your own size waiting for you upon arrival. There are facilities for all ages including tennis, a diving centre and golf (children definitely not forgotten), dynamic dining concepts… not to forget a blissful spa island purely for body and soul …the list goes on. How can they even perfect the croissant in one of the Maldives’ most remote Atolls? The answer lies in the wonderful team of professionals Cheval Blanc have sourced from around the globe and locally who deliver unsurpassed levels of service and provide an island experience that transports you. It’s pure bliss and you won’t be disappointed (except for when it’s d-day and you have to return home).

Chère Madame,

How wonderful to read that you enjoyed your first Cheval Blanc Randheli experience so much!

We are always thrilled to hear from our guests that they have taken pleasure in the little things we try to do that will make a difference... they are the fun part of our job too! We are very proud to have been able to attract a team of Ambassadeurs (that's what we like to call our colleagues) that are all highly motivated and excited to be part of such a great adventure!

We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you back in the future, be it here in Randheli or in Courchevel, at our sister Maison in the French Alps

Thanking you once again for your passionate review,

Kind regards,
Renato W. Chizzola

Being regular visitors to the Maldives and having stayed over the years in some of the leading resorts my wife and I looked forward to trying out the newly opened Cheval Blanc Resort. Having previously stayed at their other property Cheval Blanc Courchevel in France we expected. of course, a similar level of comfort, service, ambience and hospitality and we were not disappointed. We wanted to get away from the usual European Christmas Festivities to enjoy a more quiet and relaxed holiday, and that was exactly what we found.
Starting with the elegant and soothing airport lounge to the customized private seaplane transfer, the arrival was an experience by itself. We were greeted by the Manager and whisked by golf buggy to our most amazing water villa where our personal butler Samantha awaited us and showed us graciously and efficiently all amenities and surprising features all easily controlled by a simple Ipad. The superbly designed villa was pure opulence, indulgently luxurious and the attention to detail was matched by the privacy and seclusion. The view across our infinity pool to the lagoon was gorgeous and reemphasized a typical Maldivian feel.
Food quality was top class with extensive diverse menus and superb preparation by the Michelin-star trained chef and team. We took advantage of the multi dinning location options with choices running from Spanish to Japanese, Maldivian and French fine dining in the “ Restaurant 1947” an experience without doubt the best where service, style and atmosphere are classic. ( which unfortunately opened only 3 days a week alternating with the Spanish/Japanese Dyptique) Food prices were a bit steep even for a resort of this caliber and I can confirm another tripadvisor’s comment that a Wagyu Burger really sells for US$ 80 – but there is also a Black Angus Burger on the menu for US$ 40.- You get what you pay for!
The multi cultural staff were friendly and extremely attentive without being overbearing, always with a cheerful ‘bon jour, bon soir, bon nuit’. Some of the staff were a little ‘green’ and service was on occasions sometimes slow, which can be expected at a new resort, however, everyone was extremely trying and hospitable.
The island itself is lush and tropical green, with the water villas and the large Spa on newly created islands all with beautiful beaches and a shallow lagoon ideal for swimming and water sports. The sea, unfortunately, was a little choppy due to high winds, a fact we were told, that was to be expected during this time of the year.
Overall, we both enjoyed very much our 8-days holiday; it was an impeccable stay and surely will not be our last visit.

Room Tip: Depends on one's preference - either Beach Villa, or Garden Water Villa or Water Villa

Frequently I have stayed in The Madives at numerous high end resorts over the past decade and decided to stay at The Cheval Blanc Randheli on my most recent visit to paradise due to a fine year and an anniversary.

An evolution in hospitality has occurred in The Maldives over the years and I must say that Cheval Blanc Rhandeli is the peak of this evolution without peer.

I do not "blog" as such about my travels however on this occasion I had to share my fine experience due to the freshness of the resort in The Maldives and the fact that a company so well branded in hospitality, yet so new, requires acclaim from a past client to be heard.

So to summarise in no particular order:

Arrival and Departure
Swift and efficient. The walk from the private lounge to the branded custom made sea plane was 20 metres. Everything else went along and culminated in a brief in residence check in followed by welcoming massages.

Environment.
The vegetation on the island was naturally fine, the paths and beaches were clean and natural, the villa surrounds were attended to regularly and kept fine.We even rode bikes around which were supplied to us personally with ease.

The Maison / Residence.
WOW! Experiencing would be the only way to realize the magnitude of this dwelling, that is completed by several outdoor areas and an infinity pool about 10 meters in length which is placed between you and your private vegetation nestled beach area. We stayed on land of course but also were fortunate enough to see the over water Island Maisons which are parallel in class and quality yet situated right on the calm ocean.
Everything was there amenity wise, technology is that offered in the city,
The entertainment systems and lighting were outstanding.
Without going into further detail it is a true design feat that works well.
Unbelievable to know that this is basically in one of the most isolated places on our planet.

Housekeeping.
The finest I have experienced, top class in all areas including laundry, daily service and cleanliness with detail.

Butler Service.
Unobtrusive, thorough, easily accessible, anticipated our needs and fulfilled all of our requests.

Food and Beverage.
The standard and variety on offer meant that we were never lost for options nor choices nor experiences of differentiation. The best thing I can say is that you need to experience all of it if you can. 1947 is grand yet real and a true Gourmet journey; not leaving out the cellar or Grand Piano which sets the scene magnificently.
Private dinners were an experience also worthy of mention.

Activities,
On the island the activity area was always friendly and accomodating. Only regret is we did not have time to experience all on offer.
Off the island dolphin sunsets, fishing, turtle watching and reef snorkeling were all safe and great and thoroughly enjoyed and our requests, needs and timings were all organised with no trouble whatsoever.

Service.
The blend of Maldivian, Asian and European service staff were all on the same page, which is surprising. The service was always thorough and attentive and friendly without being flowery complementing our experiences.

Management Style.
Professional. On hand and present if required and giving thorough support and direction.

Ambiance.
WOW WOW WOW. Quite simply the property oozed class experiencing an array of works and
and decor only befitting of the product.
All of the furnishing were comfortable nd the feeling of all of the "hardware" areas was superb.

The Noonu Atoll.
I truly feel that a journey to The Maldives is very much environmental experience also. The Noonu Atoll which the Randheli Island is part of has everything to the highest point offered in Maldives. Clean waters, dolphins, fish, other marine life including turtles and reef which could quite easily be the best of hard corals that I have viewed - which is saying something. A true plus for any resort let alone The Greatest.

Spa.
On its own separate island (larger than some resorts I have been to in The Maldives) less than a 2 minute journey from Randheli is the Spa.
I shall not write forever about this only to say that it is a magnificent product with peaceful stand alone dwellings that all meet the ocean, a separate bar with a 30 meter infinity pool, large private jacuzzi with staff and treatments to meet the Hardware.
The experience of the spa was above any we have experienced.

In closing my "blog" I would like to say that if you can get to Cheval Blanc Randheli and experience the ultimate in al facets of resort hospitality.
