“Fall Colours Cruise”
Reviewed 27 October 2013

The Fall Colours cruise is so popular that very little advertising is needed to fill this boat cruise. And with good reason. At the end of each sailing season, the Chi Cheemaun ferry boat must move from Tobermory to Owen Sound where it docks for the winter. For the past few years, tickets have been sold for this "positioning cruise" with great success. And with good reason. Your ticket includes bus transportation from Owen Sound to Tobermory, a walk-on ticket for the 5 hour trip from Tobermory back to Owen Sound and, if you pre-purchase it (optional), a hot lunch in the cafeteria. The cruise down the east side of the Bruce Peninsula is very scenic and because the waters are so deep, the boat can get very close to shore along the National Park shoreline. Many of the points of interest are announced to passengers so you can get photos of them. There is live entertainment in the lounge and the food is excellent. Tickets are numbered and passengers are called to lunch by ticket number so there is no mad dash for a seat in the dining room. For those who have taken the boat to Manitoulin Island, imagine 5 glorious hours watching amazing scenery go by, an exceptional hot lunch (it has been cold and rainy the last 2 years), live entertainers and the tugboats at Owen Sound and the pedestrians all waving and honking to welcome the boat "home" for the winter. The boat also does a spring positioning cruise to get back to Tobermory for the summer sailing season (plus bus transportation back to your car). If you want a ticket on the spring boat, you may want to call now (October) to reserve. For the fall boat, call and reserve no later than August to ensure you get a ticket. Will I be on the boat next year? You bet - probably both trips. Join me. You will love it.

“Fun way to travel”
Reviewed 12 October 2013 via mobile

We took the ferry to see more of Ontario on our way to Sault Ste. Marie. It was great! It was easy to book, left right on time and had a safe area for the cars. I worry about my car but it did not have another car on either side and there was a lot of room. We had breakfast, which was decent. Free coffee refills. It was slightly wavy so you had trouble walking straight but it was fine. It was raining so we didn't sit outside but it looked like there was a nice sitting area on the deck.

“A bit wavy”
Reviewed 2 October 2013

What a great cruise, the day we sailed was very windy so of course there was wave action out in the middle of the lake. The ship is very clean and the staff are excellent, scenery is beautiful going through the islands. Would definitely do it again, but this time sail from south baymouth to tobermory.

“Average food”
Reviewed 25 September 2013

Visited with friends and had hoped to book for the Sunset cruise so that we could have our meal served to us but it was fully booked so We decided to go as walk on passengers and have the self serve meal. There was one lady serving the meals for a long line of passengers and when she dished up our meal it wasn't exactly what we had ordered. We accepted it rather than have another wait, but because there were five of us in our party, the first few were already sat down and had eaten half of their meal before the last of us got served. It wasn't quite the nice relaxing dining we had planned on but the meal was fine although nothing special. The view of the sunset from on board though more than made up for it. It was stunning
