Nice little cottage. The water was VERY shallow. Would be nice to be able to get to better water. Did not realize just how shallow it was. Hard to get kayaks and peddle boat out without getting stuck. The kids enjoyed looking for tiny fish, frogs, snakes, etc. Spent a lot of time at other beaches- check out Lion's Head and Dunks Bay. Make sure to visit the grotto and Flower Pot Island.
The cottage itself was nice. Needs a good overall scrub down, and new carpet. Basement is musty.. I think it's the carpet.
Had to do some cleaning when we got there. Loved having a washer and drier!!
Lots of nature- we left peanuts out for the squirrel and chipmunk every day.
The sunsets are beautiful and we enjoyed having a bonfire every night. Bring your own wood. It is very expensive to buy up there.
Overall, we had a nice (much needed) relaxing vacation!
Tobermory and the entire northern Bruce peninsula are beautiful. I'd highly recommend a visit. However, given the award and pictures posted, I feel obligated to write an honest review about this property. Man, if I knew then what I know now...I never would have stayed here. When we initially pulled in to the driveway, I backed up just to make sure it was the right place. Why? Wish I could post a picture to show the overall effect: the old neglected detached shed in front with the tattered tarp door swaying in the breeze, the two large boats that appear to have been parked for a long time - one in the drive and one in the lawn - conspire with the trash under the boat trailers, building materials strewn about, and massively overgrown weeds and trees to provide, well, not a welcoming first impression. This trend continues in the back. We used neither the grill nor the oven as they both appeared to be long overdue for cleaning. The sitting deck/dock in the back is nice but let me caution you about the water you see in the pics. It was all of about ankle deep in early August when we visited. To the left it gets a bit deeper (couple feet) but then shallow again. It doesn't (or didn't when I was there) connect directly to the actual bay (which looks very pretty). We tried to look on the bright side and stayed for a portion of our intended stay but ultimately became so turned off we left early. More could be said. I'll leave it there. Best wishes on your vacation.
its great cottage and close to all spots.Cottage is really good with all facilities with 3 bedroom and lot of things to do in cottage.cycling lots of cycle, boating facilities, other sports stuff we would like to come again. Only thing washroom tissue role only 3 and paddle boat dosent work other wise every thing is fine.when any body visit those areas bring some lotion for mosqitoes out side you will find big mosqitoes.
The cottage is set in a beautiful location, it has everything there that you could want and you can tell a lot of care and thoughts gone into this place. You will be expected to clean after you leave and wash the bedding. The cottage was utterly filthy the hygiene in the bathroom was well below standard, hair all over and dirty. We contacted the owner to let them know with no response. For the cost of this accommodation the cleanliness was so bad it ruined the visit.
The location is very close to Bruce Peninsula National Park and Tobermory. The sunset view from the deck is great. Also, the night sky is amazing, there are so many stars visible. The cottage was ready when we arrived, pots, plates and cups are available. The bedding are clean. The dock with peddle boat and kayak are ready, but it was too cold to use. Nancy is very responsive with communication and check in instructions are very clear. We really enjoyed our stay.
We enjoyed our stay its suitable for kids and there was always something to do for the family. The back deck was great for our family and the sunsets are beautiful.
