We stayed here for two nights when we climbed Adam's Peak, but it seems that many people only stay one night then head off again.

The manager/owner was a nice guy and very helpful. There is free wifi. The rooms were large with a balcony, and clean. The breakfast is awful…very undercooked fried eggs and 'toast' that is made in a toasted sandwich maker…INVEST IN A TOASTER AND LEARN HOW TO FRY AN EGG! Dinner was a buffet, and was very tasty. The restaurant area itself is dull and dark. They have beer.

Its about 8-10 minute walk to the start of the climb, but that's the least of your worries if you are planning to do it.

We arrived late at the railway station in Hatton and the hotel was so kind to send us a taxi. Poor guy had to wait for 1 1/2 hours because our train was late but he already awaited us when we jumped out of the train. When we arrived in Dalhousie we found out that the room was given to someone else and we got transfered to the guesthouse next door which was really nice.
The room was huge and had a nice balcony with a great view. It was clean but the bed wasn't that great (pillow felt slightly damp). Dinner was rice with different dishes and had a good taste. The breakfast though wasn't great and our fried egg was still a little raw.
As it is just a few walking minutes away from the entrance to Adam's Peak, it's okay for staying one night. ($52 for half-board).

This place makes a good base for climbing Adams Peak. We paid for a triple room, and the price included breakfast. We were starving after climbing the peak early in the morning. Breakfast consisted of; juice (it had been watered down, and tasted too foul to drink, possibly rotten?), toast (I think they must have held it under a light-bulb to toast it), lousy coffee, marmalade, and ONE egg (just fried, no choice was offered, we sent it back because the egg white was still runny). We asked for salt and pepper and they just said 'no'.

In their defence our room was huge, and we had a small balcony. Also, the water in the bathroom is brown. Go figure. I'd only suggest staying here if you can bargain the price down, and avoid the food.

The White Elephant Hotel is a very good point for embarking for Sri Pada/Adam's Peak. The manager of the hotel, Ravindra, is extremely kind and helpful and provides a very professional service. The meals at breakfast and in the evening are good and the rooms are very spacious, clean and comfortable.

This hotel is one of a string of accommodations at the entrance to Dalhousie village. Rooms are large, simple, clean, with balconies overlooking the valley. The rooms on the lowest floors get least noise from the road. Rates generally include breakfast and dinner, which are adequately prepared though served in a somewhat charmless dining area. The management is cheerful and efficient, and there is free wi-fi in the reception area. Hot water supply is a bit feeble. A satisfactory place to spend a night before climbing Adam's Peak.
