“Beautiful Resort”
Reviewed 23 May 2014

We went here in December 2013. The resort is very beautiful and modern. They had an excellent staff to serve us. Not once didn't anyone bother us to buy anything or receive a tip. The food is pretty good, it's pretty typical food that you would find at any resort. The snack bar had excellent calamari and croquettes. The infinity pool is really relaxing and overlooks the ocean. The resort wasn't crowded, so we could enjoy the pool and buffet without being overwhelmed by crowds. The only bad thing bout this place was the amount of bugs at night. It was almost unbearable. We brought bug protection, but that didn't seem to help at all. Definitely wear long pants at night. The excursions were very unique. I would highly recommend the speedboats. It was like 40 dollars for half a day in your own speedboat. They take you on a tour through mangroves and to see an old abandoned ship and then you go snorkeling. Very good experience for the price! We also went on a jeep safari tour. The jeeps are manual and they take you way out into the countryside. The roads were absolutely horrible and extremely worn down. They took us to a few places, but it wasn't anything special. They provided us with lunch, which made everyone on the trip extremely sick the next day. If you go on this excursion, I highly recommend bringing your own food!

Room Tip: Our room was on the ground floor. I would have liked a room on the third floor to get a better view.

Just back from our vacation to Cayo Santa Maria- Cuba (May 10-17, 2014).

Let me start by telling you that the weather was perfect all week long!!! sun, sun, sun...

We traveled with a group of 5 adults and 6 kids under 12. The hotel was amazing. The grounds are beautiful and well kept. You can see gardeners attending to the grounds on a daily basis. The room was beautiful, clean, and with a nice view of the ocean. Maid service was great, and the fridge was refilled daily. The hotel has 3 massive swimming pools cascading down to the beach in 3 separate levels. The pools are beautiful and are kept clean at all times. They also look gorgeous at night with all the colored lights. There is another massive pool at the other extreme of the property, which also includes a kiddie pool (2 pools). The beach, is one of the best beaches I have ever seen. I have visited Cuba 5 times (different cities), but this beach must be one of the best ones in Cuba.

Service was great. Everyone was helpful, and always offered a nice smile. The entertainment at night was also good. Many nights the shows took place at the lobby and not at the theater. I loved this because we got bar service straight to our tables (waiters/waitresses) would walk around all night taking your orders. Amazing.

The food was ok too. I am not picky about food. There was enough variety of good food all the time, and I (and everybody else in my group) always found something delicious to enjoy. The hotel has a main Buffet restarurant, a Big restaurant by the beach (opened for lunch) and 4 or 5 a la carte restaurants, for which you have to make a reservation. They also have a 24hrs snack bar from where you can order, pizza, hamburgers, fries, etc..

Both the adults and the children had an amazing time at this resort.

I would recommend this resort to anyone looking for a great vacation destination for a reasonable price.

Thanks

EC

We traveled in March with group of friends and family. We all like it and would return again. The manager from Spain (Teresa) is amazing and she is everywhere (even helping staff to clean the buffet area before lunch)! Some people in previous reviews complain about food and we believe that these are unfair expectations. Maybe there is not so much variety comparing to Mexico or Dominican Republic, but plenty to choose from and we never got hungry or sick. And yes, they have fries that some people complained about lack of it. Our favorite was the beach buffet with freshly grilled fish and meat.
Nicely maintained grounds, very well kept and clean rooms (many with view of the amazing blue ocean). Rooms are modern and better than most of the hotels of the same category in Cuba. Each room is equipped with the screen doors which is good option (not offered by many hotels) for the ocean breeze and to keep bugs away.
Good service at the bars and coffee better than anywhere else in the Caribbean. They do not have typical piano bar as in many other places in Cuba, but musician plays piano every evening for a bit. We wish they have more of it...
Not so much shade on the beach (maybe planting some palms will be a good solution?) so in the busy season it is challenging to get a palapa at the beach.
Beach and ocean - breathtaking! This is probably reason why there is very few people around pools as everybody goes to the beach.
In summary - good place and do not hesitate to book it! We will be back...

We had such a wonderful time at this resort that we plan on taking our next vacation there .. We were supposed to go the end of the month but due to a family emergency we have to postpone. The resort is beautiful, clean and the staff are amazing.

We stayed from Apr.23-30, the resort itself is beautiful. The rooms are very nice, we got a room with a great view of the ocean on the third floor even though we did not pay. We had no problems with maid service, our fridge was refilled everyday except 1. No big deal just went to the lobby and had the water refilled. Towel service was fine, exchanging money no problem. Some guests expect too much, waiting to change our towel and 2 guests kept refusing the clean towels handed to them because of a stain. It was a bleach stain, this really annoyed me, the towel was clean. The guests at this resort were more my problem, some guests are just rude and it seemed like this resort was full of them, not the fault of the resort. The resort does need more Palapas and maybe space them a little farther apart, I am an early riser so no problem i reserved a spot where we spent the entire day. I am sure in the future this problem will be resolved. The beach is gorgeous, nice sand, beautiful blue water and over to the right a fairly nice area to snorkel. When we were there they did not have a waiter or waitress on the beach as stated in earlier reviews, however there was never a long wait for a drink at the beach bar. This is not my first time to Cuba in fact my 5th, but my first time to Cayo Santa Maria. I did not find the bus ride that long. It was great to see the villages and be able to respect the culture of hard working Cubans who have to travel this distance to work everyday and do so with a smile. I would have liked to have a guide that spoke English but since we flew out of Montreal they are told to speak French. The biggest problem at this resort is the food. I am not a picky eater and was never left hungry but was really never anxious to eat because the food was not very tasty. Breakfasts were fine with lots of choice, buffets were ok, not amazing, however the a la cartes had limited choice and the food very tasteless, had the lobster at 2 of them and really rubbery, with no flavour. I was at a new 5 star last year in Varadero and the food was great, maybe I was comparing. It could be the fact that they have to have it transported to Cayo Santa Maria that the option of certain food is less available or it is because they have not perfected the correct cooking methods. The workers were friendly and hard working. Not as friendly as other resorts I have been to, but professional. This resort was trying to become the rated 5*, with lots of effort and extras, chips on the tables at the lobby bar at night, entertainment each night in the lobby. The grounds were very well kept and quite impressive for a new resort. We enjoyed our vacation very much.

Room Tip: We were in block 19, very centrally located.

We took a chance and went to the Eurostar in Cayo Santa Maria instead of our usual hotel in Varadero. We have been going to Varadero for 7 years and love it there, and was a little hesitant about a new hotel and area but took a chance. Well I must tell you how great this Hotel is along with such a beautiful pristine ocean. The oceanview room we had was spectactular. Not just an oceanview, but you could say an ocean front suite. The staff was friendly, helpful, courteous always willing to assist you in any way you needed. I travelled with a picky eater and she had a great time, being able to have a choice of some great food. We could not get enough of those great cappucino's and latte's they were made just perfect. The wait staff in the lobby bar were always there quick to assist you and did it with a smile. We had such a great stay at this hotel, that we will be back in December for sure...thank you to all the staff and to the ones who kept our room clean and made the beds, Muchas Gracias!! Jeannette and Diane (Toronto, Canada)

Room Tip: This hotel is at the top of the island and takes approximately 1 1/2 hours from the airport but is w...

We (2 seniors) spent here last week of January 2014.
Desk Service ignored our notice from order about: floor, bed, view that first day we lost for complains and moving to room as we wanted.
New resort has problems with professional personnel and professional management.
Cooks did not know how use good product to prepare good meals.
This resort does not have any restrictions about smoking what is terrible for allergic or not smoking people. Many of tourists (specially from Quebec) ignored us every place and every time with their smoking habits.
Resort is very quite without good relaxed music in most of common places almost all day.
Evening Entertainment was OK (specially pianos concerts) only smoking people!!!.
Rooms, restaurants, pools, commons places very modern.
Problems with change of towels and drinks in minibars.

Room Tip: I recommended buildings #11-20 with south side
