Ideal hub for families of all ages for an active summer holiday, as long as you have a large budget as all activities cost a lot. The best value for money was we bought a week pass and used the "swimming land" every day - it rained a lot unfortunately. There are lots of outdoor activities: downhill biking, trail walking, canoeing, etc, but they cost a lot. We had a lakeside house/apartment that was luxurious. There are 2 impressive waterfalls nearby, "Tännforsen", a short drive towards the Norwegian border, and in the opposite direction an equally accessible waterfall with walking trail is "Ristafallet".

Nice location next to the Are railway station on the banks of a serene lake with the ski slopes of the mountain just behind across the small town of Are--picturesque place with lots of activities available---rooms etc are very well maintained --with all facilities including full kitchen, games rooms, bowling, wifi etc nothing much beyond the town itself and the skiing so away from the madding crowd ---for a real leisure holiday with activities u want to indulge in ---lovely place

Room Tip: on the lake front for the ideal view and beautiful walks

This hotel is well kept. The hotel rooms are comfortable and there are a lot of activities. The "adventure bath" is a treat for everybody. The only drawback is that the hotel lacks it's own shuttle bus to the slopes. It does not matter if you have your own car, otherwise it is a bit of a walk to the closest slope and the public bus only leaves (from the other side of the train station) twice an hour.

Nice interior design and clean rooms, but the walk from the hotel to the slopes (or the local bus across the train station leaving twice/hour) is terrible. They should have their own shuttle bus to cope with the distance to the slopes. If you are not planning to do any skiing there is plenty to do at the hotel. Huge pool area, bowling and miniature golf which was great for the kids.

We stayed at its suite room with wonderful view of the lake and part of the ski slopes. Generally, it offers comfortable stay with nothing much to complaint. Services are good and staffs are friendly in providing their assistance. It's a wonderful hotel equipped with almost everything: indoor entertainment centre, pub, restaurant, indoor swimming pool, spa, saloon, 24 hours convenient store, childcare centre, direct access to the railway station, shops and supermarket. You can also look for lots of outdoor activities such as snowmobile safari, dog sledding, snow kart, etc. Get the details from the reception or visit their website at http://www.holidayclub.se/ . Everything is so convenient except you will need to walk about 600-700m journey to the nearest ski station, the historic Bergbana which located in the centre square. Åre is a commercialized ski village (skistar.com) where you would encounter huge number of visitors during the winter season. Make sure you book the accommodation in advance before the rooms are running out during peak season.

Room Tip: There are only 6 suite rooms available in the hotel. It's really value for money as the room equ...

Stayed there in February 2012 with two teenagers in a family room, booked as a winter holiday package with half-board pension. The hotel is located just next to the railway station, which is convenient if you travel by train. There is no ski-in ski-out so you'll have to carry your (and your kids' gear) for 500 m or so, or take the shuttle bus. However, only one of the three bus lines stops at the hotel, which limits your flexibility significantly.

The premises and facilities are OK but there are certain signs of tear and wear. Our room was rather roomy but several items were broken. The general cozyness-factor of the hotel is below average.

The pool area is large and the target group is obviously families with small children.

The staff were't overwhelmingly friendly, nor service minded. The breakfast buffet was Ok, but crowded and a bit chaotic. The evening half-board buffet was not inspiring, to say the least, and did not even -according to our teenagers testimonies- reach the standards of school cantina food. Our compliants om this matter were neglected by the staff and we really felt like staying in a tourist factory.

In summary, there are other more prize worthy and cozier alternatives in Åre, but do consider it if you travel with small children and bring your own car.

The rooms were clean and spacious. We all really enjoyed the food. Booked with Neilson and had half board/ set menu. The staff were very good if we wanted alternatives, and the meals were delicious and of a much higher standard than expected. The children enjoyed the pool and overall everyone had a good time.
