Stayed here for one night and regretted it. The room was laid out weird with glass blocks that you couldn't cover with a curtain that glared in your face while trying to sleep. The bathroom is just sort of an after thought make shift thing stuck in the corner. When my friend tried to shower in it, it flooded the entire floor and would not drain. The bar at the top isn't open all the time and didn't seem too appealing.

The price is just way too high for what it is. The staff didn't seem very friendly or willing to help. If you are looking for a room in this price range, you would be way better off getting a VIP suite at Champasak Palace.

The owner is proud of her residence and lives on the premises. On the top floor is a bar and restaurant, although it is not advertised as they want it to stay quiet - you have to ask if you can eat there! A gem of a place and the owner went out of her way to help us, including taking us on a short sightseeing tour on the way to the airport! Our room had a balcony and there are various prices depending on the size of the room. This is more expensive than we expected to pay in Pakse but the choice of places in town is very limited - and not cheap. This must be the best in town. We loved our 3 nights here.

Very very comfortable, all staffs are kind, and also it located in center of the city, so you can do everything near the hotel!! Market, bus station to other city or nation, massage, restaurant, etc. Location and comfortable is the best thing that i recommend to you. The price is little expensive than other hotels, but if you want to feel good, do not hesitate, and just book now.

Room Tip: There are rooms that don't have balcony. So you must check about balcony.

We stayed one night in a superior room (42) facing the river. It had a nice balcony that over looks the Mekong.
The hotel has great charm and character, especially the dining room on the top floor where breakfast is served, which also has a good view over Pakse. The hotel has all the feel of a heritage hotel.
Breakfast was good; a set menu that included good coffee, a juice drink, baguettes and croissants, nice jam, nice fruit and choice of style of eggs.
The person who overseas the restaurant us gorgeous and graceful. Residence Sisouk is her family home and she has overseen the renovations and the transformation of her home into a hotel, that has included installing the antique lift that, which, although incredibly slow to the point of being claustrophobic, matches the style of the rest of the hotel.
The hotel is well located, near restaurants like Jasmin ( good Indian at a great price), Champody (good mango and sticky rice) as well as close to travel agencies ( SL travel is two shops away and Green Discovery not far.)
However, while there is a safe and fridge in the room, there were no tea and coffee making facilities.
Also, a hair dryer needs to be obtained from reception.
The shower was quite small and there is not a lot of room around the bed in the standard room so I kept knocking my shin on the hard wooden bed frame.
The mattress was also particularly hard. However a bed sheet is provided as an alternative to the usual quilt which was very welcome.
The reception staff were difficult to communicate with and while one tried hard to be helpful, most could have been much more helpful.
In fact we found it so difficult to confirm with reception staff, an arrangement that had been offered via email, to transfer to a sister hotel on the Bolevan Plateau, because Residence Sisouk was booked, that we declined the offer and booked our second night at another hotel at the same price that also offered a nice pool, more space a balcony with table and chairs and more comfortable furnishings but the location was not as good and it did not have the charm of Residence Sisouk.
I was glad to have experienced Residence Sisouk and it certainly added to my enjoyment of Pakse.
If you like heritage accommodation and don't mind compromising a bit on comfort, then Residence Sisouk is great choice.
(I can also recommend the one day Bolevan Plateau tour with Pakse Travel http://paksetravel.com for about $US 19 per person and absolutely recommend seeing the huge Talat Dao Heung market in Pakse).

We had an excellent and too short stay at Residence Sisouk. The rooms are beautifully decorated and well equipped (A/C, Wifi, TV, quality furniture, very testful). We had a balcony suite on the highest floor. View is stuning. Dinner was exquisite, nice lao cuisine with a ... touch from all over the world, as Ms. Sisouk has been living and visiting many other countries. Nice wine at very reasonable prices. Breakfast was excellent as well.
We wondered whether they could organise our transfer to the airport, leaving very early next morning ? "If I do not find a taxi, I will drive you there myself. And you will be able to get your breakfast earlier than normal schedule" was the answer. Well, that's what I call "to care for customers".
Perfectly located in the center of Paksé, close to the Mekong Riverside Bars and Restaurants, a few steps away from a (very good) small spa for your body or foot massage, and still not noisy.
Absolutely recommended if you like smaller, more personnal hotels with a distinctive touch.

Room Tip: If you can afford choose the highest floor suites with a view on Mekong River.

2 Nights stay review.
Small B&B. Good location in Pakse.
arrived with our group of 18 persons.
Chaotic during check inn, lobby was filled with our suitcases, maybe this is not a problem when individually visited, just try to mention the size of the "lobby"
3 floors to the top floor rooms but you have to climb even one floor higher for breakfast (!) and diner, not easy for older guests, the small elevator (max 2 pax) takes an eternity to go from 1 to 4
Public areas in this B&B looked rather OK but...the (our) room...
Various points gave us an unsatisfied feeling, like :
What immediately struck us was the strong smell of mothballs in the room.
Layer of dust on the shelves above eye level in which one could write your name.
Bed...hard as a wooden plank, hardest mattress we have even encountered. So hard that my hip ached on both sides the next day.
TV remote was-dotted by dirty fingers.
Used soap bar in the shower from previous guest.
Shower has had his best time, (mould on the lower wall), and water pressure was of a minimum level.
Minibar was the type of a mini fridge...means, noisy during night time !
On the other hand breakfast was good, selection of bread and croissants, nice plate of cold cuts, marmalade and eggs which comes at your choice. This was the reason for my second "star"
Diner was OK but nothing to write home about.
Maybe the situation in the other rooms was more satisfactory, but... not in our.
The cosiness of this B&B didn't feed the bulldog.

This is probably the nicest hotel we have stayed in on our travels in SE Asia so far. Inevitably, though, there are areas you should note. We arranged a transfer from the airport with the hotel. The plane was delayed 50 minutes, which is not uncommon. As a result we were not met at the airport and organised a tuk tuk ourselves. The rooms are nice but there is no mini bar or free water [Most unusual]. A bedside light had no bulb. It was reported but never fixed. The hotel itself only offers table d'hote dining , pre booked for dinner. There is the very nice cafe Sisouk adjoining the hotel for coffees, cakes and shakes and it is as expensive as most but good quality. Careful if you want laundry done. At 24,000 kip per kilo this is the most expensive we have found so far. Should you wish to pay by credit card you will have 3% added for doing so. For the ultimate in thrill seeking forget zip wire. Instead use the lift in the hotel. It is an experience in itself.
