“A Must See”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 December 2013

What a unique view. The view is enjoyable wherever you look from, if you look ahead you'd see the beautiful calderas, if you look behind you'd see the impressive mountain view, and to your right, a handful of picturesque para gliders. Just being able to see the caldera which formed millions of years ago as a result of a volcanic explosion makes me realize how incredible nature is, and the power it holds to change an entire city's landscape. Definitely a spot worth visiting, and should be a must see on every tourist's list.

“Beautiful view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 December 2013

The view from Daikanbo lookout is simply breathtaking. From the top you get a feel for just how large the Aso caldera is, and you have a great view of all 5 peaks of Mt Aso. Interestingly, they form the shape of a sleeping buddha! Definitely worth going to see as it will stay in my memory as one of the most impressive sights I saw in Japan.

“Fantastic view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 December 2013

Aso caldera is so huge that you can never get a complete view of its whole area. But Daikanbo does a great job in letting you see all the inner volcanoes as well as a plateau in the collapsed part of the caldera. Romantic spot!
There is a shop with snacks and souvenirs, too.

“Great scenery!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 October 2013

Daikanbo offers an excellent overlook of the Aso caldera - a stunning and unique geological formation of Kyushu Japan. I had the chance to view the surroundings just a dusk, with the sun casting long shadows and golden hues - it was really beautiful.
