The view from our room was worth the price. Our guides were fun, personable, attentive, informative and fluent in English and Spanish. The excursions were first rate. The food served buffet style in the evening was good and all you could want. The only meal we had at lunch was ala carte and very very good. I don't know how they can do this well in such a remote location. We had the Serrano package so all our transfers, excursions and meals were included. I do not regret doing it this way although we did not take much advantage of the included wine and all the meals. We were very satisfied and felt we got our money's worth. We loved it and would go back again.

Room Tip: You will want a room with a view of the mountains.

The hotel is very good, something you do not expect in such a lonely place.
I do not understand the comments on the food. I understand that the meals are not cheap, but I assume it's not easy to provide hotels in this area with all the goods required.
The buffet dinner is anyway good. Staff very nice. View AMAZING!
Rooms are very comfortable, I wish I could have stayed there longer.

ONE IMPORTANT INFORMATION: If you travel from Argentina beware the Street that will take you to the hotel is closed in its last part from 10 am till 1830 pm. We didn t know it, when I booked the hotel they didn t think of telling me and we stayed more than one hour waiting that the road was accessible again... We travelled March 2014, I have no idea how long this will last, but you d better email to the hotel and ask them. The other way to get to the hotel is too long and you d better save fuel (there is no way to fill in you car in the nearbys)

This hotel, beautifully situated on the river, is sited to give the best views from hotel windows we have ever seen! We were very lucky with the weather and only had one dull half day, the rest were wall to wall sunshine albeit very windy at times. The reception, lounge, bar and restaurant areas make the best of the views but, as they have no blinds and it was so sunny, we found those areas very warm and stuffy and you needed sunglasses to sit anywhere near the windows! Similarly we had to keep the window open in our bedroom - keeping the window open means you hear dogs barking overnight - don't know how much you can hear if you close them. Yes it's worth the extra to be on the mountain side and have a bigger room with that fabulous view.

The fridge is left empty but you can have it filled from the bar if you request it. Laundry is only done on Mondays. We would have liked a plug for the bath to soak tired limbs after walking but there wasn't one.

As others have said there is no tv and Wi-Fi is really only available in the bar area and is hit and miss so you may want to bring something to read in the evenings or while you are waiting for trips to start.

We found the breakfast fine with a good choice although it finishes at 10 am and if we went down at 9.15 am items weren't topped up - the scrambled eggs were cold. We had a very nice lunch one day and had the buffet dinner another night - both included wine and we felt the choice was good and the price was about right for the quality and location. The buffet had some good salads and desserts. Sandwiches and snacks are served in the bar area from 3-7 pm but there was no cake, cheese platter or burgers when we asked. If you need snacks bring them with you as you cannot even buy a bag of potato chips here. We hoped for a vending machine but were out of luck. Water is in small bottles and was the most we had ever paid for water! We hoped to buy packed lunches but these are only available to you if you buy their very expensive tours.

We did go on the Lake Sarmiento to Lake Amarga walk with the charming and helpful Martin and Nico. It was a lovely day out but at a price!

We understand a swimming pool and spa are on the cards for next year. We found all the staff friendly and helpful and would certainly recommend staying here but just read the reviews so you know what to expect.

Room Tip: Would recommend paying for the mountain view. These rooms are bigger.

We stayed here for a couple of nights on a tour of Chile & Argentina. The location is great and it has the most amazing views from the dining room. On our first night we did not need much to eat and found out that the only option was the set price buffet, the bar snacks were not served into the evening. The following day we sampled both. At lunch time we had rolls in the bar which on the face of it seemed expensive but when they arrived they were each big enough for two. In the evening we had the buffet which included a glass of wine, which we both felt was reasonable in both cost and selection of food available. The hotel rooms were very good but you do need to pay a supplement to have the good view.

This is a beautiful hotel. The view is incredible (if you're on the correct side) and the rooms facing TdP are larger than those on the back. The natural wood and stone on the inside really complement the view. Rooms are very clean an comfortable. High marks to to the restaurant as well. There were not many people in the hotel at the time so only a buffet was available at dinner. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. If you are vegetarian (as I am) there is the option of only having the non-meat dishes and being charged a lower price - such a nice change from most buffets. There were several non-meat protein-rich dishes as well as the usual salads and vegetables. Given the chance, I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: rooms not facing TdP are smaller but cheaper. If you're happy getting your views from the (very...

I stayed here for three nights and was pleasantly surprised with both the overall quality of the hotel and the food. Others have said the food was awful, but I and my fellow travellers thought it was pretty good, and not expensive at all when you consider how far supplies have to be brought. Staff were very helpful and friendly, and most spoke excellent English. The views - when you can see them - are stunning! We were lucky and had one clear day, but then someone stole the view and it disappeared completely. The excursions were great. The only criticism I would make is that the hotel really does need a drying room for wet biking gear and boots. A couple of my companions did the trek to the base of the towers, returning utterly soaked to the skin, and found there were no facilities for drying, other than the radiator in their room. But other than that, top hotel!

First and foremost the view of TdP is outstanding, both from the common areas and even more from the rooms upstairs.
The staff, especially those at the Outdoor activities desk (especially Martin) was extremely helpful even if you are not buying one of their doors. They had excellent trail advice, a surprisingly accurate weather forecast, and Martin even helped me with some car trouble. The check-in/out was similarly flawless.
The room itself was large with an excellent, quiet heating system. Most important, a bathtub where you could soak your aching hiking muscles.
Because of complaints on TA about the dining room, the first night we walked to Quincho Rogel for dinner--it's the place with a green roof a 5 minute walk toward the park. The food was ok, but it costs as much as the Rio Serrano if you order a la carte. The food at Rio Serrano was much better, the buffet ranging from good to excellent. Only if you are trying to escape the noise of a large dinning room should you bother with Quincho Rogel--there was only one other couple there when we ate.
We enjoyed RS from check-in, where we received welcoming pisco sours to check-out. We were a little surprised because we had had some difficulty getting an e-mail confirmation before we arrived.

Room Tip: Definitely get a room with a view. I prefer the view from the higher floors.
