Patagonia, Chile, and Ecocamp at Torres del Paine National Park are incredible. We enjoyed staying in the Ecocamp domes (we had a superior dome) due to their low environmental impact. They were very adequate for our stay. The food was very good, the staff extremely attentive, and our guides Chuma and Bruho were excellent. Cascada, who we booked through, and who own's Ecocamp, were a real pleasure to work with. Paulina and Ignacia were very helpful and responsive. Not only did we enjoy the staff and guides, we made some wonderful new friends from all over the world. We would go back in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: Go for a superior dome if you want a private bathroom.

One of the items on my bucket list was to hike the O Circuit (complete circuit) in Chile's Torres del Paine National Park. I booked my trip with Cascada Expediciones, the organization that runs Ecocamp Patagonia. It was a wonderful experience. The trip included 3 nights at Ecocamp in the domes and 5 nights in tents while hiking the circuit. At each campsite Cascada had organized with the refugios to allow their clients to use the hot showers, washroom and dining facilities. Other campers are not allowed this access. I booked the single supplement and had a 3 person tent all to myself. This was the best sleeping accommodations. Those hikers who stayed in the dorms in the refugios complained about bad nights sleep; people who went to bed late, people who got up early, people who snored. A tent plus access to the amenities of the refugios is the way to go. Also Cascada looks after putting your tent up, taking your tent down, cooking all meals (which were delicious) and carrying all your belongings.

Many have said that Patagonia is on their list of things to do. My husband and I had the opportunity to check this off our list. We were in Patagonia to hike the Torres del Paine “W” trail. Before we left we spent some time on Trip Advisor looking for the best company to guide us. We decided on Cascada and Ecocamp.

We were impressed even before our trip began. Lorena, our customer service agent made us feel cared for and comfortable with our decision. She supplied us with lists of requirements and ideas of what to expect on the trip. We chose the superior domos (private bathroom and heater) and were glad we did, travelling in March is cooler in the early mornings. Lorena was happy to answer all our questions, no matter how small.

Upon landing in Puenta Arenas we were in Cascada’s hands. The drivers in all cases were prompt, professional and friendly. The drive from Puenta Arenas to the Ecocamp is about eight hours long but there are breaks to make the trip a little easier, and to buy snacks and drinks along the way.

Arriving in the Ecocamp we were assigned our domo and informed cocktails are in 30 min and dinner will follow; time enough to shower the trip off and relax for a few minutes before we met out hiking partners for the week. We had Pisco sours before dinner with introductions to our nine travel companions and our associate guide.

Dinner was very good, as were all the meals on the trip, save for a less than ideal box lunch. The set up for guests to make their own lunch is poorly designed and guests frequently had to wait a long time or go without the most popular ingredients. The snacks provided for the lunch are of the high sugar cereal bar type, which I tire of quickly. I opted to make an extra sandwich instead.

The next morning we started hiking. Each morning or the previous evening our guides explained what we would be doing for the next few days. Each person is given a small dry bag for a couple of changes of clothing and any toiletries that are need when we are away from Ecocamp for two nights. The hiking is fabulous and can be challenging. Every vista is new and exciting and it’s true what they say “you can have all four seasons in one day in Patagonia”. Make sure you have the right gear and pack to expect the worst, there is a chance that you will experience it, especially the high winds, even if for just for part of a day. We highly recommend waterproof hiking shoes.

I won’t tell you about each day as you to need to experience the adventure, but I will say Cascada was impressive from the guides, accommodation, to the food. We recommend Cascada and Ecocamp for anyone going to Patagonia and hiking the W.

Room Tip: Superior dome for the private toilet, shower and heater.

I can't recommend Ecocamp enough. The location is truly outstanding, the guides are great and the opportunity to walk in one of the most beautiful parts of the world with other like minded people is something not to be missed. It was a really special experience and is the absolute highlight of a two week holiday in Chile. It was also great to be given a choice about the types of treks you could do, which meant that you could mix up lazy days with tough days.

Room Tip: The suites do have the benefit of showers, toilets and heating!

My family (spouse, three adult sons and one daughter in law) were at the Ecocamp during the Christmas holidays. We stayed in the superior domes and did the wildlife tour. We found the accomodations, staff, and food to be excellent. The weather could have been nicer. When we had any issues, the staff addressed them and even helped us with a hike that wasn't exactly what was on the itineary. I would stay there again and recommend it to others.

Room Tip: Superior rooms are more expensive, but the wood stoves and baths in the room are very nice if you ar...

Our experience started many months before the trip with the Cascada travel specialist offering advice and working with us to provide possibile options for the dates we had available. We came from El Calafate and were met at the bus station in Puerta Natales and then on to the Torres del Paine. We stayed in a standard dome for 4 nights, which was very comfortable. It could get a bit cold in the evening, but once you were in bed, you quickly warmed up under the multitude of blankets provided. The bathroom/toilet was a very short walk from the dome and always clean. You had the feeling of showering outdoors, although you had a roof, walls and plenty of privacy. The meals were great, with three different option to choose from each night for main. And of course the day trips and the guides, they were fantastic. The guides were very knowledgable and along with the drivers were also very flexible if you wanted to stop for pictures along the way, especially if you were lucky enough to get some good light. One day we had a BBQ off site and it was fantastic! An excellent stay and highly recommended.

Room Tip: The suite domes come with a fireplace in the dome, which is lovely when it's cold out!

We stayed 3 nights in quad suite dome at ecocamp. The dome has an upper floor with two single beds and another 2 single beds at ground level. Not big but enough room to move around. The bathroom has a wash basin and biodegradable soap and shampoo provided. We are thankful for the heater inside inside the bathroom. It keeps us warm after shower. Every evening ecocamp staff comes to start up the fire place to warm up the dome.

Breakfast is served buffet style . We do our own lunch pack after breakfast. A spread of sandwich filler choices to choose. Plastic zip lock bags is provided. Cocktails is served in the evening before dinner. Dinner is pre-ordered daily during breakfast from written menu on the board.

During cocktail, staff briefed us on the next day programme to choose– the easy or active trek. Our 2nd day we decided to do the Tower Base trek. The view along the trek is beautiful. Walking through the beech forest with snow dotting almost entire ground. Then continued uphill climb on snow ladened rock path until we saw the gigantic granite wall and the towers. The view is breathtaking. We are glad we made it up to the base and enjoyed this spectacular view of the towers and the glacier lake below. We have to thank our guide, Karen who has shown exceptional patience. Encouraging us to reach the viewpoint of tower trek. Truly appreciate and thank her for this.

After the strenous trek, we decided to opt for the easy option on 3rd day – drive and walk on western lakes – Lake Nordenskjold, Lake Pehoe and Lake Grey. We were awed by the impressive colours of the lakes. On the way we saw many wild guanacos. This is the day we had experienced what patagonia wind is liked. Tremendous strong wind that blown us off path. Like a yoyo fully controlled by the wind. Lake Grey navigation was cancelled because of the Patagonia wind. We walked to the beach along the shores of glacial Lake Grey. Such strong wind did not stopped us from having fun. We had fun and crazy time with both guides, Karen and Gonzalo.

On last day leaving the camp, young puma came to say goodbye to us. The puma was chasing few hares at the campsite. What a fantastic ending to our trip!

We thank all the staffs at Ecocamp for giving us a wonderful experience in Patagonia
