“Great location”

It's a five minute walk from the ruins of Herculaneum, and an absolute jewel in a very questionable area. Felt very secure once in the hotel, the grounds are amazing, and the food exceptionally good quality for a very good price. The only issues we had- the air conditioning wasn't working when we arrived and wouldn't be for another week- unfortunately we weren't told this when we checked in, when we complained we were moved to a corner room with a fantastic balcony over looking their park and a lot more free moving air. The pool wasn't opening for the season until the 15th May, and wifi only in the lobby. All things you can live with and the staff more than made up for any inconvenience with how helpful and friendly they were. All in all a good Hotel, I'd definitely recommend it.

An historic villa built around 1730. Great location to reach Naples, Pompeii, and the Amalfi coast. Reasonable access to public transit. Great parking, although a little hard to find. Surprised by an excellent breakfast. Excellent, courteous staff.

We wanted to be close to the ruins on our trip in July of 2012 and found the property on TA. Several comments stated the area was a problem and the street noise was an issue, but we though the property looked interesting, requested a room overlooking their park and made the reservation. We were so happy with the staff, the amazing property (they have their own ruins), and the food, we would go back in a minute. We had no problem with the surrounding neighborhood, walking to Herculaneum or exploring the palaces and shops along the Golden Mile. Back at the hotel, I would like to say that Fabio, the bartender/waiter was especially friendly and helpful. He helped us improve our rudimentary Italian, gave excellent wine and food suggestions and made the best gin & tonic EVER! We returned from the ruins on a very hot afternoon and wanted to go to the pool (very nice pool by the way) and asked Fabio for a cocktail suggestion. He said he would think about it... We went to the pool trusting his savvy and shortly after our first dip, Fabio showed up carrying two drinks and snacks on a silver tray with the requisite towel over his arm. The gin & tonics were amazing, not sweet like the US version of tonic, and the snacks were exceptional. The hotel was wonderful, the staff were great and the location was perfect. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to visit the ruins of Herculaneum.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the hotel grounds on an upper floor, but not the top.

We stayed here for two days in November while visiting Pompeii and Herculaneum. This was by far the the best value of all of the hotels that we stayed at while we were in Italy. The rooms were large and comfortable and the breakfast buffet was great. I would recommend skipping dinner at the hotel and going around the corner to a great little pizzeria instead. It's not the nicest neighborhood to walk around, especially at night, but we never had any problems. If you are walking from the train station, let the hotel know ahead of time and they will direct you through their back entrance which is much shorter and will let you avoid walking through a sketchy area (especially if it's late at night). The hotel's proximity to the train station and the archeology site is fantastic. They have free wi-fi, but only in the lobby. If you would like wi-fi in your room, make sure that you take a cable with you. The building is old and could use a new coat of paint, but overall it what a great stay.

agree with everything the last reviewer said. The hotel has a 4 to 5 star feel about it altho a bit jaded in areas, it was built to a very high standard and is huge. It has a v nice restaurant, gardens and pool (not heated) and is only 5 mins walk from the ruins and about 8 mins from the train station. Room was big, beds fine, view to the sea from the front rooms, the street that it is on is not too busy. Herculaeum is very disappointing otherwise and not worth staying there for long!

Room Tip: front looks out to sea but might be noisy in height of season as it has a road outside, the back sid...

We chose Ercalano as a base to visit Pompeii and Mount Vusuvius and this hotel seemed to be our best option. Driving to it, my daughter made the comment we were heading for downtown Beruit ! Which I had to agree with ! The surrounding area is not pretty with loads of graffiti and we approached the hotel warily ! But once inside it was much better. We had 2 rooms booked, which were nice and large and bright, although a little shabby around the edges. The pool area was pleasant for a bit of relaxing after a morning sight seeing. From what we saw of Ercalano, this hotel was clearly the best although I would not go out of my way to visit either again.
