“Traditional style pub restaurant with great choice of food with friendly service”
Reviewed 3 July 2014 via mobile

We booked a table and pleasantly surprised how busy this restaurant was..good atmosphere and popular with the locals. We ordered burgers which were good and recommend the onion rings!! Also the Pimms o'clock was just perfect for rounding off the evening. The owners are friendly and welcoming..they have recently refurbished part of the restaurant and if you go..check out the water well at the back of the restaurant. Absolutely fab place to check out..definitely go!!

“Wonderful transformation.”
Reviewed 22 June 2014 via mobile

After spending 2 weeks on holiday near St Mabyn last year and visiting this pub, which was run down, dirty, scruffy, dark and dismal and with grotty toilets in an outside lean to, we visited it again on Sat lunch time on 21st June this year and goodness what a transformation. The pub still has the old world charm but is clean and bright and comfortable. The food was amazing. I had pasta which just melted in my mouth with ciabatta soaked with garlic butter, which was utterly delicious. I pinched a chip from my son in law as they looked so lovely and they were probably double fried and gorgeous. Unfortunately I didn't have room for a pudding but I'll make sure I do next time. Staff were friendly and efficient and the prices are excellent. The outside loos are now inside and modern, bright and spotless. There is also a lovely beer garden to the rear.
We will be returning during the week although booking is essential as it is so popular. Well done to the new owners who have turned a dump into a lovely welcoming place.

“Excellent food and service, in a pleasant local inn.”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

We were recommended a visit by our B&B hosts, who also booked our table, and we were not disappointed.
The pub has had improvements made to it by the new landlords, but without changing its old world atmosphere, and with its mix of locals and diners it provides a pleasant welcome and choice of food and drink. A good choice of real ales and interesting menu choices, which were enthusiastically explained to us, we chose different options which were served without a long wait.
The food was excellent and plentiful. My wife happened to mention my birthday and the owner offered a celebration drink, a nice touch and gratefully accepted!
A nice welcoming pub and restaurant, well work a visit!
