Pounda Paou is a wonderful, relaxing and beautiful place. It is incredibly peaceful and a "real Greek secret". The food which is cooked by the owner is delicious and all the staff are very friendly and welcoming. The rep was on hand to help with any issues and responded quicklyto our enquiries.
At Pounda Paou there are lots of different areas to relax and sun bathe or sit in the shade and read with a lovely pool and nice cove sea area for swimming. We would recommend having a car and a boat hire for some of the holiday as there are many very interesting places to visit and beaches that can only be reached by boat. If you like walking there are many beautiful walks around Pounda Paou but you need strong food wear and a good eye to spot the red paint dots marking the way. Nearby Horto is a lovely walk and eat at Martha's or watch the sun set over Paou beach and don't miss the local Crayfish and Pasta dish- delicious.
Our room was not quite as good as we had been led to believe, it was quite small and basic. There are rooms of different standards, but it was adequate and comfortable with a lovely terrace. The bar prices are quite high so I would recommend getting your own drinks from the local supermarket which you can have on your own terrace.
Overall this is a wonderful place to relax, beautiful scenery and friendly people and we will definitely return. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: Room 1, 3, 5 seemed to have the best facilities as well as sea views. Room 6 (no sea view) and 4 ha...

I simply can't rate this hotel highly enough. After a very difficult 18 months we wanted a peaceful two week holiday and Pounda Paou certainly delivered. It's in a lovely secluded area with large peaceful gardens. The owners Mrs Lula and her daughter Maria give just enough distance not to be intrusive but at the same time are very attentive to guests needs. It's also lovely listening to Maria's two young children giggling in their family area when they were around. The 3 maids work so hard and are very friendly. Their English is limited but we had fun learning the Greek basics such as thank you, good morning etc. It became quite an amusing game between us as my pronunciation was pretty poor and I kept forgetting the words.

We decided on the option of a boat for the fortnight rather than a car as we felt it was less stressful than negotiating the Greek roads. Lessons on the boats are given on the Saturday morning and off you go! We found mooring quite difficult initially but were soon visiting the local villages for a beer and a snack by the waterfront. There were occasional problems with the boats but the phone number for the 'boat man' who is on hand at the hotel all day are given to call for his help if needed. We saw dolphins from the hotel most days (other guests are always on dolphin watch and a shout goes up) and the holiday was capped by the dolphins swimming around our boat on our final day.

You do need some form of transport or it becomes quite expensive to drink / eat every meal for a fortnight as it does have typically high hotel prices, particularly for the drink. We went to Argalasti via taxi (about 7 euros each way) for our provisions and stacked the fridge with snacks and drink. The hotel food is wonderful. Most guests ate out in the local towns at least once but all said the food at Pounda Paou was much better and although a little more expensive, the quality made it better value. At meal times it was lovely to chat to other guests and often we would remain at our tables for an hour or two chatting / drinking after the meal.

The only disruption (but we were informed about it beforehand) was a change of rooms mid holiday. Both rooms (11 & 7) were very small but more than adequate. Room 11 has two balconies but a teeny, teeny bathroom. One balcony partially overlooks the car park but this didn't spoil the main sea view. Room 7 has a terrace and a modern larger bathroom. Room 7 is next to the laundry room so on change-over days the staff are passing by the door often. We didn't mind this at all, although they were very apologetic. We preferred room 7 as it was out of the way of the other rooms but nearer the restaurant / bar and swimming pool. The views from the hotel are stunning. Simply surreal.

The only real negative point of the holiday was the long and cramped mini bus journey from / to Volos airport. It took between 1.5 to 2 hours depending on the traffic and the bus drivers weren't at all friendly.

I could write far more positive comments about our experiences at Pounda Paou but don't want to bore. If you want a relaxing, peaceful holiday, stunning views, no kids, no stress - go!

Room Tip: Room 11 has a very small bathroom - I have larger cupboards at home - but we just adjusted. The two...

Unfortunately we could only stay a week, though we would have loved a second week. Views and gardens fantastic. Rooms were small but perfectly adequate, and all individual.
Breakfast was fine though could have done with occasional variety. Lunch salads were tasty and good value. The evening meals were excellent- they were a bit more expensive than eating out elsewhere, but there was always a buffet starter and a dessert included.
My husband is coeliac and the kitchen staff were very thoughtful about dealing with this, even providing a grilled octopus version of the battered starter on the buffet ( without us asking for it- there were plenty of alternatives!).
We would certainly return and have already recommended it to friends.
If you have a fridge in your room and want to stock up on fruit, drink etc beware, especially if you have the boat option first: the local supermarkets seem to close at lunchtime on Saturday and don't open again till Monday.

If you want a remote location, excellent food and STUNNING views, I would highly recommend this B&B. We had a very mellow and relaxing holiday with vistas and birdsong to soothe the soul.

Breakfast is provided and comprises hardcooked eggs, fruit, toast yogurt etc. One day we were given some ham and a fried egg, which was nice.

Lunch and dinner are available on request and the food was ridiculously good, and very plentiful. My favourites were the roasted octopus, stuffed vine leaves and slow-cooked lamb. You may get sick of the sight of feta but I couldn't get enough.

Room Tip: Some rooms have generous private patios, so definitely ask for that if you want one.

Stayed at Pounda Paou the first week of the season which covered Greek Easter festivities. The staff and owners made us feel very welcome. We were there on a bed and breakfast basis with dinner as an option (19 euro's) the breakfast was good and the nights we ate in the food was good, all cooked by the owner and locally sourced.

A very relaxing place to stay with views out to the sea, we stayed in room 1, which did have an excellent view from the balcony. You do need a car to get to other near villages as Pounda Paou is quite remote, but this add's to its attraction.

We booked through Ionian & Aegean Holidays who have a car / boat hire option with the package, flying into Volos Airport, which is small. Time from the airport to the hotel is about one and a half hours to two hours in a busy period. All in all a good place to unwind and relax.I should also add this hotel is Adults only.

Room Tip: We had room 1 which was good, all the rooms seem to have some outside area, room 7 would probably be...

Stayed quite a while ago however new to Trip Advisor. Fantastic hotel and unbelievable settings. Very highly recommended. Staff were very helpful and food was fantastic. Initially we were provided with a room without a view however we were moved to a smaller room (underneath the bar) and the view to wake up to was unforgettable. Food and drink was great. Would recommend hiring a boat for the duration of stay as beaches and towns are easily accessible. Defiantly to return.
