“Lovely hotel”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

We stayed for five days in Eden hotel, we were originally in passing by and planned to stay for one night but this Hotel is really something. It has beautiful location, close to the beach, quite location but close to Split, Makarska and Brac. The staff is excellent, especially Matko who organize us trip to Imotski lakes which was amazing, he was at our disposal full time. Thank you Matko for making our holiday special.

Lovely new modern hotel in an ideal location, nice sandy beach only few meters away. Great restaurant and rich breakfast! I was in a room overlooking the sea which I found to be simply amazing. It is absolutely new and flawless in every matter, very clean and comfortable, spacious, nicely designed, equipped with all you might need during your visit. Good wi fi connection.

Room Tip: Ask for room 203 ;)

Having chosen this hotel because of its location, overall this holiday did what we intended it to,though with some disappointing bits. It wasn't the fault of the hotel but our flight , due to Monarch, it had to be delayed by two days and when we got there this affected our plans as winter timetables come in on October 1st.
But in spite of that we got to Hvar by catamaran ( plus a convenient bus to Split!). We also enjoyed wandering about the old parts of Split -- The Diocletian Palace etc. Again by bus. The bus took us to Omis in the other direction and we enjoyed a day there, but the weather and late season put paid to our hoped for river trip.
Hotel: good parts, great friendly and helpful staff.
Good view from hotel sea view as booked.
Great evening meals, we ate there 3 times as the other restaurants not that close.
We did enjoy Restaurant Arkada but were unimpressed by Fabio's!
Bad points: Poor breakfast good enough choice, but as breakfast is open till 10am and food laid out by 7pm, it wasn't what I expect from a four star hotel.
Not a lot of fresh fruit after the first couple of days. Any hot food isn't by 9am and one morning the bacon actually ran out and no more appeared.!! Ditto teaspoons, cake etc.
It was odd that the quality of the evening meals were so much better!!

I didn't like our bathroom which was small and the seal on the shower seemed to be broken so however careful you tried to be the bathroom floor got wet!! In view of the smallness of the bathroom, so unlike any pictures I had seen, it made getting into and out of the shower a bit precarious for me with my limited mobility!!

Again access to the beach wasn't as good as I had hoped and was a bit difficult for me .
As there was nowhere else to chill out at the hotel, I had to choose between a steep rough slope or steep rough steps!!
So a mixed bag for the holiday, too late for Croatia really as though the sun shone after the storm of last Sunday/ Monday it was cool in the morning and early evening too, so could only use balcony with sun on it for a couple of hours each day.
But we got to lovely places, especially Hvar Town, and had some great meals.

Room Tip: Choose a sea view, but not Room 205 as the bathroom was very small.

We booked this hotel because we had a hire car and so struggled to find somewhere actually in Split. The hotel was perfectly pleasant, very friendly staff, and surprisingly nice restaurant where we had an evening meal (homemade gnocchi for me - delicious!) and great breakfast with lots of choice.
It is a small walk to the beach and we had a drink in the little bar of the swanky Le Meridien hotel next door. If we had stayed longer I think we would have tried their restaurants as the local ones did not look great.

There are two problems with this hotel. The first is that there is no outside pool or place where there are sunbeds where you can lie around. The second is that the restaurant closes after breakfast and only opens again at 4pm so there is no lunch service. Although you can go down to the seafront, a one minute walk and hire a lounger it's still a bit inconvenient if you're having a day off and want to chill out at the hotel. For lunch it's easy to cross the road and get a pizza from Fabio's but again, it's an inconvenience.
If those two things aren't very important to you then this is a really great hotel and a good choice. The staff are very friendly, the front desk is extremely helpful with questions about places to visit, times of ferries etc. The rooms are clean and spacious. The communal areas are all very calm, at night the hotel and locality are very quiet and we all got a really good sleep without any outside noise. No single nationality dominates the guests, everyone was very polite and easy going.
The restaurant deserves a special mention since the food is fabulous. At breakfast there is a huge choice with everything possible from coffee and croissants to cold meats, fruit, sausage, bacon and egg. Every breakfast type is possible. The dinner menu is also of very high quality and not too expensive. There's not a huge choice but they do things very well.
There is free parking, wi-fi is also free but reception wasn't perfect in our room (301). There is a spa, sauna and small indoor pool in the hotel which we did use and was OK. We used the massage service which for 400 Kuna/hour (just over 50 Euro) was very good, the lady was very professional. There is alos a free computer you can use but it didn't have a printer (or we couldn't find it) There is a bar beside the restaurant but in two weeks we never saw anyone in there.
This type of hotel suits someone who has rented a car, gets up early, wants a good breakfast then goes out to explore all day coming back for a decent dinner and a good sleep. For me, it was just fine and I'm going to give it a good note.

Room Tip: Get a room with sea view, it's worth it.

I agree with the majority of reviews , this is a good clean hotel with excellent service. We had a level one sea view room which was excellent. Very quiet room and it had a large balcony. The hotel is between a busy road and the beach so make sure you get a sea view room. The hotel is within yards of the bus stops and we stayed 4 nights and visited Split twice in the evenings. Only 16 Kuna per trip. We chose this hotel because we enjoy visiting Split and it is an excellent choice if that is your intention. One day we went on the bus in the other direction and spent a nice day in Omis.
The local beaches next to the Hotel are nice, we used one 5 minutes walk along the front on the other side of the posh Hotel Lav next to the Barrundi bar which did very nice simple lunches. The areas behind the beaches are untidy but the beaches themselves are very nice and are used by lots of Croatian and Italian families on their holidays enjoying the clear sea and the view across to Brac. At night you can easily walk the 5 minutes to the 5 star Hotel Lav (either along the road or sea front) which has a small marina and a few places to eat. In fact many of the hotel guests choose to eat in Hotel Eden which we did one one night, the food is quite good.

To summarise; if you want to stay within traveling distance of Split and next to nice beaches this is an excellent choice.

Room Tip: sea view room with Balcony

I have to say this is a very partial review and I can understand the rave reviews that some other reviewers have given this hotel. It failed however to meet our own specific requirements. First the positives- the staff were great- friendly and helpful. The room was a decent size and it was well maintained and very clean. Breakfast was so-so, a great selection of cold stuff, including loads of fresh fruit, but the cooked elements were poor (grilled hot dog sausages). The internet connection was very weak and the friendly staff even tried to give us our own server to try to sort it out (didn't work either). The treadmill in the gym didn't work and the pool was in a darkened cellar- can't help but think they missed a trick when constructing the building here. Most of all though, booking this hotel was our mistake- we intended to use it as a base to explore Split and it's too far away to do that. Podstrana is not particularly nice and going back and forth on public transport was a nuisance. Having said that the number 60 bus drops you off right outside the hotel- if you are coming from Split for the first time then look right out of the bus for a Podstrana billboard as the bus comes off the dual carriageway. The stop is the second one up the hill- look out for the Split hotel which is just before Hotel Eden (there is some inaccurate bus info elsewhere on this thread- please disregard- we were confused by it and ended up spending a wasted 18 pounds to get a taxi the first time we went to the hotel). There is an alternative minibus service that is run by Dalmatinac (look for the white minibus with the blue Dalmatinac writing) that runs between Split and Omis. Journey to Split takes about 25 minutes. Overall the Hotel Eden is a decent hotel but it was expensive and not what we were looking for.
