Stone, glass, and steel. Odd design elements. Limited English. Cosmetically nice, but with maintenance gaps. Impersonal at-a-distance service. Lots of Chinese breakfast selections but they all tast the same. You know the drill.
Like, you get to your room and most of the electricity is turned off. You have to find the breaker box and flip on the TV, refrigerator, air conditioner, etc., as if the room had been put in storage for the off season. And this is standard, every room, every body. It hasn't occurred to the management to prepare the room for the new guest. Slow, heavily censored Internet (this is Tibet light, after all). And this hotel's nod to Chinese design eccentricity is a huge picture window between the bathroom and the rest of the room. Yes, every bit of the bathroom is in full view (there is a shade, pray that it works). To this day I can't imagine what they were thinking.
