“dark room”
Reviewed 7 October 2013

We had a 4 bedroom. It was dark. From the balcony I could look only into the neighbour balcony not in the garden! The coffee at breakfast was horrible. To have good coffee we had to buy it from the bar. The water pool was very cold so that the children could not even swim in there.

We spent a week at this hotel complex, the second week in September. The complex has some nice facilities, big swimming pool, beautiful landscaped gardens, which are very well maintained, nice beach area with beach bar, fitness room, etc. The complex is fairly well maintained and clean. We had one of the sea view rooms, which looked out across the gardens, big swimming pool and you could just make out the sea in the distance, but not a bad view, it had aircon was kept nice and clean and we never heard a thing during the night, no banging doors or late night drinkers, all in all, very quiet. Its fair to say this hotel is a bit dated, very 1990's and doesn't have the wow factor found at some of the similar complex hotels in places like Dubai. The restaurant was a boring experience and the food although very nice, not really exciting and served with not particularly nice wine. Nice friendly staff, but sometimes the language barrier was an issue, with lots of pointing at what drinks we wanted, but always done with a smile and they never showed frustration at my failed attempts at Italian. One of our reasons for choosing this complex, was it is away from it all, so if you do want to go in to town, its the shuttle bus or a taxi, or a nice walk. The bar prices on the complex we found to be a bit pricey, but just along from the beach, is Pedro's bar, which was half the price, needless to say, we had quite a few drinks in Pedro's bar. Wifi isn't free and you have to pay per device, also useless signal in our room, so had to go to the bar, near restaurant or reception for a good signal. As mentioned by one of the other reviewers, they had these quite loud aerobic sessions around the pool and at the beach and they didn't seem to vary the music much, it was a bit irritating, but it was only in the morning by the beach. All in all, it was a nice week.

Room Tip: Go for one of the Sea view rooms.

How did this low end backward B&B get 4 stars next to its name?
Caution to everyone wanting to stay here, this is not the normal 4-star stay you think it is. To quickly describe it, the reception exterior is impressive as well as the size of the pool. They got us there!
Beyond that, it is a little over crowded with people and wasp nests, no hope and no room service!!
Several nights included heavy door banging (around 2am) from drunk people. Calling security may help only if you speak Italian.
Only food solution is their time limited buffets; breakfast (free) / lunch / dinner buffet 35eur/person. Beyond that there is no other eating solutions within the resort, there is no room service or even snack vending machines, you have to travel into town.
Lesson learnt here, don't trust reception they are completely disconnected from what's going on 5 Seconds beyond their desk. Our arrival was late evening and couldn't wait to shower and eat but induction is so long as their systems are old school & paper manual. To get to the buffet you have to go to reception first, pay, and get a ticket. Because it was 9pm when we got back down to reception, the manager fumbled around making calls the check if buffet is not closed. No one was answering there so he assumed it was all finished and wanted to send us to town to eat. It was our first night and since it was dark also we had no idea where everything was, last thing we wanted to do was get into town on our own to find a restaurant or another hotel that may or may not still be serving. We ended up putting pressure on poor hopeless manager until he was able to secure us the buffet. We got there, they were not busy and there was heaps of hot food left. Very peculiar as to how this manager has no idea what's happening in his workplace, or even how he wouldn't know one restaurant name and phone number in town. Don't forget no room service either to save you!
We ended up exploring the town next day, getting some groceries and trying all the beautiful restaurants in Orosei during the rest of our stay. From then, there was no way we would waste money and calories at their buffets.
you will pay for a 'club card' which entitles you to a green wristband that identifies you to security as a guest. It's meant to differ you from non guests that come in and access the pool. With this wrist band you can use the pool, beach chairs from 3rd row and watch some entertainment at the anfitheatre. They try to make a nice atmosphere.
Apart from that you get nutta! You have to pay for wifi, beach towels and the hotel shuttle bus into town. Don't bother questioning the value of the club card, we actually took off our wristbands and it was unnoticed for 3 days lol! Regardless they make you pay.
Orosei is such a beautiful town, its exactly the 'Italian village by the sea' we wanted but this "hotel" needs a total revamp; systems/processes, amenities, people, ideas and innovation. They need to get into consumer marketing and understand customer needs or at least what 4star resort is, otherwise, there is no survival for future.
Its definitely not value for money, might as well get yourself a small B&B room in town and then visit their pools. But at the end of the day, nothing beats the beautiful beaches of Sardegna and Orosei especially.
Hope this helps :)

Room Tip: dont bother coming here

Loud & irritating music & karaoke almost all day long - impossible to hold a conversation beside the pool, let alone relax.
Dirty plates, & tablecloths in restaurant. Food terrible. Wine terrible. We gave up on our 1/2 board & ate out in town by the middLe of the week.
Pool & beach bar expensive & rubbish- only lunch options were microwaved pasta for 8euros each. We went to Pepes Bar a little down the beach for 3euro freshly made paninis instead.
Pool so full of chemicals & dirt your skin feels slimy when you get out!
Rooms damp & smelly , a/c very noisy. Fridge door didn't work . Mini bar empty.
They insist on pre-paying a money card for all drinks/ purchases, for which they want 5euro deposit. Beach towels a 20 euro deposit / & charge 2.5e a day each-this desipite having to pay a 'club' fee on top of the room( €168 for the week ) .
I guess you get an idea of the clientele by the way they don't trust the guests enough to charge drinks to the room .

Not a 4 star hotel by any stretch of the imagination! Worst hotel I've ever stayed in in Italy.

Positives:
Staff:
reception, bars, restaurants, animation team, everybody extraordinary friendly, efficient and helpful.
Installations:
Nice hotel surrounded by an incredibly garden. Comfortable and big rooms also with big bathrooms and super showers.
Great swimming pools, beach and a clear sea.
Public bathrooms always clean and in order.
Restaurant:
On arrival you are assigned a table so to avoid the usual waiting or fighting for a place to eat.
Optional and quieter the Restaurant Pagoda, you only have to make reservations.
Photographers:
Pleasant and excellent pictures.

Negatives
Restaurant:
Breakfast simple but OK. Lunch and dinner abundant but boring and very poor quality. For me everything tasted the same. Wines terrible and the beer was supposed to be included but it was not the case. Exceptions may be some fish dishes, desserts and fruit.
Strand: Chairs too close to each other. Showers a little to far from the beach. If you forget your towels go somewhere and buy new ones if not you should pay 2.5 euros pro towel pro day. Showers a little to far from the beach.
Bars: Cafe, water, cola, cocktails, etc everything overpriced. Walk 100 m out from the beach and you will find Peppe's Bar much cheaper and very friendly.
Animation: nice group of young people, but sometimes the music volume was too loud, adults shows not to creative (cannot judge the show for young children, did not see them). If you buy the bingo ticket, 5 euros each, ask what the first price is about, they told as it was photo-camera and resulted to be a bunch of animations T-shirts and DVD from the show.
Visit Orosei:
Hotel Shuttle, 2 euros per trip per person, but very limited times ( the only time we needed it we waited for 20 minutes never appeared and finally we have to take a taxi back, 3 euros per person) or you can walk around 40 min .The best, rent a car to explore the area.

We have a pleasant enough vacations but I will definitely no return, to overpriced for a 4 star hotel.

The food was great. Large variety of salads and starters, 4 variety of pasta and 2 or 3 dishes of meat and fish. If you have full board winw, water and beer are included at lunc and dinner.
Friendly staff!
