We went for lunch. For starter Tuscan ham and cold meats of excellent quality and generous quantity. Followed by a mushroom-potato omelet prepared to perfection, wonderful taste, gold brown color. Excellent spumante for apero and nice wines, also by the glass. Very friendly service. From what we saw on the other tables the weekday buffet lunch for 5€ seemed an excellent value. Highly recommended!

Osteria La Gramola is located some 40 minute drive outside Firenze and is worth the trip. My wife and I were there a couple of times and we ate very well. The wine list is relatively small but you will find excellent choices for every pocket and palate -- from house wine to great Chiantis, Barolos and super Tuscans. The place is well appointed but without pomp and circumstance. The food that comes to the table is ins kind of home-style but the taste is far superior some 3-star Michelin restaurants -- for a fraction of price, of course. If you are looking for quality, simple but nice place, unpretentious service, you will not be disappointed. La Gramola was one of the nicest slow-food restaurants in the Firenze area. One more detail: easy parking nearby. A. Gaspar

We have spent the last three weeks traveling around Italy and one of the best meals we have had was at the Osteria La Gramola. The first time we went was based on the recommendation of our hotel - which can always be suspect - but it was great. We had a relatively quick meal but everything we had was delicious and the owners were friendly and accommodating. It was so good that we wanted to go back and make it our last meal in Italy. Unfortunately they weren't open that night, but the night before. We just got back and it was fantastic. The food was great (we had the beef stew, the pork saddle with grapes and tomatoes, and the noodles with porcini mushrooms and truffles), the wine based on a recommendation was fantastic (we will try to find it in the US when we return), and Cecilia and Massimo were so friendly and made our evening completely enjoyable. I'm only sad they're not open tomorrow because I would definitely go back I highly recommend Osteria La Gramola. I would be shocked if you didn't love it. Beth Roberts

This wonderful little restaurant is situated in Tavarnelle in the heart of the Chianti region of Tuscany. For the third time in 5 years, my friends and I participated in a cooking class conducted by Cecilia. What a lovely lady she is and what a wonderfully organised chef. Each time she has shown us how to make a delicious three course Italian meal and while it's cooking, we sit with Massimo and chat about chianti and olive oil. Cecilia and Massimo are very generous with their time and expertise. Our meals were of generous size and accompanied by appropriate wines. Our aprons were a gift and we left very satisfied with ourselves, our meals and the company of this lovely family (including the recent addition of a grandchild). We will be back.

My husband and I ate at this restaurant twice and had good experiences with each visit. I fully enjoyed the ravioli, and yes there were four pieces, yet each was a generous 4x4" stuffed, hand made pasta! My husband, missing his US fare, ordered their version of a hamburger and declared it to be one of the best he has eaten. We found the staff to be friendly, but a little slow, as there were only two servers. We also found this to be commonplace in most of the family owned eating establishments in Italy. I would recommend this to friends and hope to be back some day to visit again.
