“Not Impressed”
Reviewed 17 July 2014

Room - not enough storage place for clothes and air conditioning did not work despite telling the desk twice this was not resolved.
Lifts - be prepared to wait a long time!
WIFI promised, but unobtainable, clearly not sufficient for number of guests.
Dinning room - poor quality food, fish was not fully cooked. Tidying of tables slow.
Pool - too small for the hotel, not enough beds. Sun beds need replacing. Sun umbrellas do not fit into their bases so the life guard wedges them in with plastic cups and has to remove them all at the first sign of wind so they don't fly around and hurt someone.
Most guests seem all inclusive as bars nearby are expensive.
Nice location.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the hotel for a week in early July 2014 and first impressions were good. Check in was smooth and the rooms seemed lovely. I believe all rooms have a balcony that has at least a partial sea view. Unfortunately that's all the good things I have to say about the place.

We ate dinner at the hotel on two occasions and were very disappointed with the quality of the food. There is a large selection, ranging from pork and fish, to different types of salad and vegetables. However it is the same every night with no variation. The quality is unacceptably low.. and I'm surprised the owner can sleep at night knowing people have paid so much to eat at his/her hotel.

The elevators were also disgusting, with snot on the side and ceiling of one of them. We stayed on the 14th floor so taking the stairs wasn't really an option.

Don't be fooled by the hotel claiming they have free internet access. They do, but internet access is only available in very certain areas around the reception, and IF you manage to connect, it is painfully slow. Dial up internet slow. Why on Earth can they not update their routers to provide a better service? It can't cost that much.

The pool is also not heated and we weren't able to use it because of that. But I'm not sure if that changes much as most hotels have a cold pool and many people were using it anyway.

To round up.. nice rooms, nice view and the maids did a good job. However the hotel is very dated, with terrible food and poor internet access. The owner needs to stop being so greedy and invest some money to provide a better service.

Arrived very late but no issues at check-in. We had two rooms I requested them next door with sea view and we got our request. Room good size and comfortable clean with balcony and great sea view above swimming pools. Meals generally good not a lot of variety day to day but clean and plenty of food available. Generally staff very helpful some speak decent English one or two not friendly. Not many UK people at hotel the week we stayed mostly Spanish. Requested a late check out room when leaving and this was available for us although the hotel was full at end of week. Overall good hotel, good rooms, good food with nice staff.

Room Tip: We had two adjoining rooms on 11th floor with sea view.

Dear Customer,
Thanks for your interest in sharing your feedback of your stay on TripAdvisor. Your Comments are always helpful to improve day by day in the satisfaction of our guests.
Unfortunately the topic of food is always subject to taste. Daily are several hundred people who eat at our hotel and this review is not symptomatic of the general feeling of the customers although we regret that it was not to his liking.
Every day we offer a wide assortment of fresh vegetables for salads as well as different choices of meat, fish and pasta.

Yours sincerely,

First impressions were not good the large Glass roof over the front desk was dirty and the glass broken in several places. The reception staff spoke very little English, but later we found spoke it well enough for their Gests to get by if they wanted. Reception staff were not very helpful and in one case we were trying to buy tickets for a trip out which the Hotel sold and as soon as we spoke the reception guy turned his back and went into the back room not to return. Bar staff however were great and very helpful.Spa staff looked us up and down and decided that we would not pay for their services very rude before we could enquire we were asked to leave thinking that the English were not interested the costs were high even for guests. The Room was a good size and clean in most cases. However the balcony rail was covered in Bird poo and stayed that way all the whole 2 weeks we were there. Only one pool open even though it was over 30 and early Oct.Most of the Hotel was in a complete mess as we walked around the hotel warn and dirty carpets, wires and elec not safe. There were no shops close and very quite not a Holiday to do things. Also the hotel shop and fac could not find them. The Hotel was full of Spanish OAP who seemed to come and go and it was a srum at meal times pushing rude ness and filling their bags with food from the food hall and total lack of respect. They NEVER purchased a drink but filled the bar area playing cards and board games so it was difficult at times to get a seat. It was welcomed that the all inclusive did go on till midnight and you could take a drink to your room. If you want a quite Holiday doing nothing with the wonderful Beach across the road great this is for you. Hotel only really 2 star but when they finish I am sure they will bring it up to the 4 star they want but not yet.

Room Tip: End of season was very very quite.

Me and my friend stayed at the porto magno hotel for 5 nights and we thought it was great. It was very clean, the room had everything you need however our hair dryer didnt work at the time. We had a pool and sea view with a balcony. The staff were friendly however spoke little english which was a bit of a problem.
We were all inclusive and therefore took advantage of the free drinks at the bar. The only thing that let the hotel down was the food. It was absolutely awful. Breakfast was horrible. The cereals were mixed together, there were no croissants and the bread was hard. However the night time meals were better and there was a lot of variety.
The location was excellent and couldnt fault it. We were right outside the beach, there were a few shops near by and the centre commercial was only a 5 minute walk away. We went there most nights to drink at the bars. Its not a lively holiday if your wanting clubs and to party but there are plenty of bars.
We had a great time, and will definitely go again next year.

We booked a room with seaview for an extra cost. This was totally unneccesary since all rooms had seaview in a manner!

The room was goodsized with a clean and nice bathroom. The hotel in all fet a bit dated and the large windows towards the sea and the glass roof in the receptionhall was very dirty and worn. The Fountains towards the sea were all closed down and looked abandoned.

The poolarea was nuce with four or five pools under large palm trees and set in a nice garden.

The breakfast was huge but lacking in quality and rather boring and tasteless. It was like a school kitchen at its worst!
