“Another fantastic meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2014

Visited the Olway on Saturday night with my friend for yet another fantastic meal. There really is nothing you can fault about this pub, the place was spotless, the service was impeccable and the food was cooked to perfection. We had the pulled pork burger and the shoulder of Lamb, followed by the home made choc ice and the Eton Mess. Despite being extremely busy we received our food quickly and everything was perfect. I overheard a rather unpleasant gentleman complaining about them not providing bottled beer, but considering the selection of real ales, cider and lager on tap I'm not sure why this was a problem. But then I suppose you can't please everyone. Thank you Matt and Nic, we thoroughly enjoyed yet another wonderful night at the Olway and we will be returning again very soon.

Heard great reports about the Olway so my wife and I decided to try it . Firstly the place was filthy when we walked in and even worse when we sat in the Resturant .
The beer selection was very poor ,no bottles available .
When we were sat in the Resturant we could hardly see as it was so smokey and smelt really bad of grease maybe they need an extractor in the kitchen ? , I had to keep going to the car park to grab some fresh air .
We ordered just a main meal so we could leave as quick as possible .
The only positive was the staff did seem quite friendly .

The Olway has always been one of our favourite pubs for food and recently we decided to stay for a night. Knowing Matt and Nicola's attention to detail with their food we had a feeling the b and b would be excellent. It was. Comfortable bed, immaculately clean (cleanest bathroom we've seen for a long time), tissues, sweets, bottled water, toiletries, hairdryer, fan, view of the chickens and a superb full English in the morning. The Olway Inn is a really well run pub and b and b. Hats off to the Landlord/lady combo.

I was travelling alone with work and stayed overnight. On arrival, which was quite late in the evening, I was quickly greeted by one of the kitchen chefs in the absence of bar staff who was very welcoming and booked me in. The room was lovely, a single but with plenty of room, very clean and tidy and so many useful bits and pieces (hair drier, little bottle waters on the side table, iron and ironing board and an umbrella!). Bathroom was immaculate and lovely complimentary shampoo etc. too.

Just one negative - only one tea bag to last the duration of my stay!

Breakfast was wonderful, so tasty and massive! couldn't quite eat it all and felt very guilty about that. The food was lovely as was the gentleman staff member serving me, nothing was too much trouble. I met a retired couple at breakfast who had stayed before and returned as they so enjoyed their previous visit.

Definitely recommended!

Room Tip: They all looked good rooms to be honest.

We stayed for one night whilst attending a wedding .
The hotel is a very pretty country pub in easy walking distance of Usk.
The room was more than ample and spotlessly clean.
We didn't have dinner as we were at a wedding but the food smelt fabulous and by the looks of their vegetable garden it is all home grown.
Breakfast was very tasty and ample serving.
Friendly hostess and would certainly either stay again or at least visit for lunch.
Stay there you won't be disappointed

Stayed one night. The room was not huge, but was clean and contained adequate facilities for a short stay. It did present good value for money. However the food was excellent. Dinner was as good as any that we've had in a pub, and breakfast was very good too. I did sense that front of house staff were a little inexperienced, but this did not detract from our stay (I believe that an element of holiday cover was involved), I would highly recommend the Olway Inn.

We stayed at the Olway inn when attending a wedding in Wales. We arrived late on our first nights stay at the Olway Inn, but we were greeted by friendly staff. There were lots of people in the bar and there was a great atmosphere.
When we arrived in our room it was very cosy and a little on the small side, but the bathroom was of a good size and there was tea and coffee provided. The bed was extremely comfortable and the view from the window was lovely. We arrived during the Usk flower show and the hotel had clearly participated. The grounds looked beautiful. The ceilings are quite low, so be careful if you are tall!
The breakfast was great, a full English breakfast included, and there was a nice selection of cereals and fresh fruit.
Be careful when driving to this place though. The sat nav gets very confused with the postcode and both us and my parents got completely lost!
We had a lovely stay and would like to thank all the staff for making us feel so welcome.
