Our day was perfect in every way and it will be a day we will remember forever. We were both made to feel so very welcome and treated like royalty. Food was out of this world. All the feedback from the guest was excellent, Nothing seem to be any effort for any of the staff and they all worked so very professionally.

Very friendly comfortable hotel. All staff were brilliant. Food was superb. Excellent menus and nothing over- salted as seems to be the norm these days. Presentation was delightful and staff looked after us. Room was quiet and comfortable with attractive view and storage adequate for a short stay of three days. Will definitely return to enjoy the comfort and attention of the well-trained staff. We will use this hotel as a benchmark for other establishments.

Room Tip: Room 10 was good but I believe all rooms are similar standard.

Fantastic staff (who use terms like "my lady"), great food but unfortunately let down by poor room.
For £135 expect more than a room in the attic with a poor view, and there was no sign of the fluffy towels mentioned by a previous reviewer?
Could go on, but I think what started the downbeat review was the "Dear Guest" letter - which was 10% welcome and 90% the negative consequences and penalties of daring to breach the anti-smoking rules. What about the positives of the hotel, its staff and food, and of the Usk and Wye valleys etc.

Room Tip: Ask not to be given room 16.

Myself and my mother have afternoon tea at a different venue every month, it's our tradition. Today was the first time we have had afternoon tea at the Glen Yr Afon. I have to say we were really impressed. A very friendly down to earth waiter took us to our table which was laid with really pretty shabby chic mismatching cups & saucers which we were loved. He asked what we would like to drink & I asked for tea & explained that my mum is allergic to tea & coffee. Straight away he said not to worry she could have anything she wanted, be it a soft drink or something from the bar. My mum chose hot chocolate & both her hot chocolate & my tea came in cute teapots steaming hot.

When the food came out we couldn't believe our eyes. There was a giant platter of sandwiches, a huge tier of cakes & a separate platter of scones. The waiter immediately said that the chef doesn't like people to go hungry & anything we couldn't finish he would box up for us to take home. Which we thought was good as the Celtic Manor won't let you take anything with you which annoys me as we've paid for it & they will only put it in the bin.

So overall, it was a nice day out, the staff were really nice & friendly & we would go again. Think the afternoon tea is £19.50 each.

Stayed 19th March in room 31. Warm welcome on arrival. Hotel room lovely, excellent decor, deep bath, shower, fluffy towels, freeview TV and sports channels. Well stocked tea, coffee, mineral water and biscuits.

Had room service and ordered 10oz steak. It came with all the trimmings and more. I queried the cost as I couldn't believe how good it was for the price.

I will definitely be staying again and recommend to everyone I know. This hotel is perfect for both business and pleasure.

We booked for 1 night for a friend's party and hadn't done much research into where to stay in the area. We were very pleased with our choice... the hotel room had everything we needed and the hotel interior was lovely. We ate at the hotel restaurant and found the staff very attentive and the food was delicious...!! We also benefitted from their February offer of saving £20 per person. Hope to be back at some point!
