Very good castle. Picturesque and a n interesting piece of Welsh history. Cheap entry and lovely pieces of wood carving round the place.

What an amazing place! We wandered up there quite late on a Sunday evening thinking it was probably closed. It was open but deserted aside from a lady looking after the garden and her dogs who welcomed us.

The gardens leading up to the castle ruins are beautiful and the ruins are stunning. Feels so charming and romantic. Guests go at there own risk, there's no real barriers which is great. The views are fantastic too.

Already looking forward to visiting again, really beautiful place.

This is not the biggest or best castle in the British Isles, but it is absolutely the most charming I have ever visited. There is plenty to view in terms of castle ruins as you would expect, dating back to the 12th Century CE, but these are enhanced by the most beautiful plants and flowers which have been nurtured around the site, so that when; for instance you go through the entrance gate you are met with the most beautiful scent of flowers. Add to that a short climb up to the castle through a charming little garden, an honesty box; rather than the usual tickets, a lovely view across Usk, which points out the key landmarks, and a young dog who likes to follow you up to the castle and sit on the grass and watch you; and you have a charming experience. The best bit for us was a little ruined chapel, with cross; which seemed suddenly the most wonderful place to get married, or renew vows. I absolutely loved this visit. Usk Castle is (in my opinion) a unique experience and a sheer joy.

A great find in beautiful country surroundings. Steeped in history, lovely grounds, free entry, however donations are happily received-
