We stopped here on our way back home to the midlands after staying down south for 5 days, we are so glad we choose the Gables, the room was large and comfortable, and the bathrobes a nice touch. The only down side was on the second night the radiator decided not to work, but within minutes of reporting the problem the manager visited our room and the problem was sorted(Very Impressed with the service)

We use the Gables as a stopover on our journey from the Midlands back home to the West Country as it is so convenient from the M5. The rooms are cosy and the beds always comfy. The restaurant and bar are good as are the breakfasts. We would like to stay longer and explore the area sometime. Looks good walking/pub lunches country!

Room Tip: We usually have a ground floor room - minimal noise from the road. Upstairs back overlooking the car...

I booked this hotel for a weekend/mid journey break before my wife and I headed to another hotel in Wales. We booked a 2 night leisure break DBB both nights. Our room was large, clean and pleasant except for the bed which was very firm. We enjoyed two very good evening meals in the restaurant and breakfast each day was very nice too. There was a function on the first night with some very noisy people staying over, unfortunately some of them were ignorant and thoughtless to other guests by shouting in the corridor at 2.30 in the morning (Cretins). As I said the bed was very firm and we were unable to get any sleep. My wife asked if we could be moved the following day and this was met with a very positive response where we were upgraded to a four poster room where we spent a very comfortable night.
Over all we had a lovely stay, the staff were great throughout the hotel and if we're in the area again would stay.

Excellent location, friendly staff went to make this a wonderful weekend break. The rooms were well furnished and cleaned to a high standard. The breakfast delivered both variety and quality of products. Overall a very pleasant stay and one we hope to repeat in the near future. Within close proximity to Bristol, the hotel made an ideal base to explore all the attractions of this charming city.

Me and my family ate here today and had a lovely sunday lunch calvary. The meat was great, roasted veg, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshires, yummy roasters, Cheesecake to follow, great value at 2 courses for £9.99. It was fully booked in the restaurant so our table was in the bar which no problem at all. Thanks, we'll be back.

Bedding stained. Bedroom very basic. Facilities dated. Decor dated. Couldn't get gold if staff via room phone. Shower had very little power. When the staff contacted us via phone they didn't bother to address us by name. Breakfast had plenty of choice but quality of food then suffered.
On the plus side- free wifi and bar staff were excellent.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, although we of course are very disappointed with the content and the fact that you did not enjoy your stay with us. We are very sorry that your stay was so unsatisfactory given that as you can see from other reviews we have improved so much in the hotel and will continue to do so in the future. We would always encourage any customer to seek to resolve an issue if and when it occurs as it is often very hard to “set matters right” retrospectively. We do however appreciate and take on board your comments and will seek to improve for the future.

Thank you very much for taking the time out to write a review and for the five star rating that you have given us. We are so pleased that you found everything to be immaculate and relaxing. I believe our location so close to the motorway and out of the hussle and bussle of the city centre does help to create the relaxing ambience, so it is good to see you have found it so.
we all look forward to welcoming you back very soon.
