We were phoned by the hotel in advance of our stay asking if we would like to go to the disco on friday evening. I said not we wouldn't and please could we put somewhere in the hotel where it wouldn't be noisy. The lady said yes she would put us at the back of the hotel. What she didn't tell us was that was where the disco was! The hotel facilities were very good so just check that there isn't going to be a disco if you want some quiet.

Many thanks for taking the time to feedback following you stay with us last Firday night. We are very pleased that you found the hotel facilities to be very good, however please allow me to apologise for not following your instructions regarding your request for a quiet room.
I do hope you will visit us again in the future when we will try to get everything right.

Booked via a discount voucher but went on a Sunday night and could have booked in at the reduced prices they oferred anyway! Superior room seemed to mean a robe/slipper kit and water which were both missing from our room, overlooking the front drive. Young receptionist told us she didn't know the difference between a double and superior room, or even how to get the room lights working, They didn't include any hair shampoo in the room either and while the bed was large there was also a join in the middle, so the extra for a `superior` room felt more `let-down` than treat.
No drinks were included in the meal voucher (although they did allow us some once we pointed out the `superior room` charade) but the food was nice. The breakfast was a self serve buffet.
It was functional and if we'd just booked for what we wanted could have worked out better.

Room Tip: I imagine the view on the upper floors was better than the ground floor.

We are of course are very disappointed to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations and most certainly did not meet the high standards that we all strive so hard to achieve here. We stayed at this hotel a while ago and when it came to meeting members of the family from Coventry, London, Exeter and Plymouth for another Birthday lunch on 8th December we remembered how easy it was to access the hotel for everybody. We did vow not to meet for a Sunday lunch again after our last experience at another hotel but on this occasion this was the only time we could all meet up. I am very pleased to report that we had an excellent lunch. The staff made us very welcome and it was great value for money. We will definitely be back. The hotel is so convenient for travellers on the M5 both North and South whether you require a coffee stop, lunch, dinner or somewhere to stay overnight without having to go miles out of your way.

Thank you so much for posting an excellent review of your recent experience here at The Gables. In recent months we have begun to experience a growing band of followers who prefer to "get off the motorway" and enjoy our hospitality. This is very rewarding and satisfying for us to know that we meet the needs of our customers and whether it is just a cuppa or a bed for the night you can be assured of a warm welcome.

travelling to bath and cheltenham christmas markets this was our stop over hotel this included a three course meal and party night,the hotel was very clean room sizes were good and the food was excellent, the staff were very helpful and check in very quick for a full coach, bar prices were reasonable i would recomend this hotel
